Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I

($22.13– 28.33 per hour)

The City of Chowchilla is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I for the operation and maintenance of the City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant. The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I is a journey-level class in the Wastewater Treatment Plant series, which normally works under general supervision, performing a group of related duties according to established procedures.  This position reports to the Utility Systems or Wastewater System Supervisor and does not supervise. 

The City of Menlo Park is currently accepting applications for a temporary Equipment Mechanic in the Fleet Services Section of the Public Works Department. A temporary equipment mechanic performs diagnostic, maintenance and repair services on light and heavy city vehicles and equipment, such as automobiles, storm/sewer trucks, aerial bucket trucks, dump trucks shuttle buses, construction equipment, lawn mowers, small equipment and stationary generators; and performs other duties as assigned.

The temporary equipment mechanic performs a range of skilled tasks requiring journey level mechanical ability and aptitude. Work assignments are performed according to established rules and procedures. Independent judgment is required and is supported by supervisory review and direction. Equipment mechanics are required to provide their own tools and equipment.

DEFINITION

Under the general direction of the Director and City Engineer, the Civil Engineering Associate/Project Manager – Capital Projects leads the delivery of complex capital infrastructure and facility projects for the Town of Danville.  This role focuses on high-value construction and modernization projects, including buildings, utilities, and public infrastructure. The position serves as a critical liaison between Town departments, consultants, contractors, regulatory agencies, and community stakeholders to ensure successful execution of capital projects within scope, schedule, and budget.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives direction from the Director and City Engineer. Exercises supervision over Public Works Inspectors and contractors.  This is a journeyman-level, first line supervisory position requiring substantial independent judgment, technical expertise, and leadership in managing capital improvement projects. The position reports to the City Engineer and may supervise professional and technical staff. 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Essential duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Train, direct and manage Public Works Inspectors to perform and document daily inspections of construction projects, private development projects, encroachment permits and clean water inspections to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, permit conditions of approval and Town standards.
• Oversee day-to-day operations for paving construction projects ensuring project is completed safely, on schedule, according to quality specified and within budget.
• Plans, organizes, directs and controls all parts of projects from permitting, bidding, and construction to the closeout for a portfolio of complex capital improvement projects.
• Prepares and monitors project budgets, including support for obtaining funding.
• Facilitates work of a multi-disciplinary development team across organizational boundaries, including designers and construction professionals.
• Develops and maintains detailed project schedules and budgets, tracks expenditures, and recommends cost control strategies.
• Reviews and processes change orders, ensures quality control, and oversees contractor compliance with plans, specifications, and safety standards.
• Prepares reports, presentations, and communications to inform internal and external stakeholders, including Town Council.
• Ensures that contractors are maintaining safe work sites and that the needs of the staff at each project are being protected.
• Coordinates final project closeout including punch list items, documentation, and transfer to operations.
• Manages consultant contracts and coordinates with engineers, architects, construction managers, and inspectors.
• Facilitates cross-departmental coordination and public outreach related to project scope, impacts, and progress.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:

• Financing, estimating and budgeting, including planning and estimating, calculating overhead, design and construction costs.  General knowledge of various funding sources and restrictions.
• Regulations and regulatory agencies and commissions affecting planning, zoning, design and construction.

The City of Lincoln is hiring for a seasonal Maintenance Worker II within the Parks and Facilities Division of the Public Works Department.

The Department is looking for an individual with at least three years of responsible experience performing municipal parks maintenance. Course work and training in maintenance, agronomy, horticulture, forestry, natural resource management, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, janitorial or related field is highly desirable.  A successful candidate will have the ability to obtain a Class B Driver’s License within one year of employment.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. The position also requires both near and far vision when inspecting work and operating assigned equipment. The need to lift, carry and push tools, equipment and supplies weighing 25 pounds or more is also required. Additionally, the incumbent in this outdoor position works in all weather conditions including wet, hot and cold. The incumbent may use cleaning and lubricating chemicals, pesticides or herbicides which may expose the employee to fumes, dust and air contaminants. The nature of the work also requires the incumbent to climb ladders, use power and noise producing tools and equipment, operate hydraulic aerial devices, drive motorized vehicles and heavy equipment, work in heavy vehicle traffic conditions and often work with constant interruptions.

Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting. The City of Newark is seeking an experienced skateboarding instructor who can connect with participants of all ages, especially youth and teens. The Recreation Instructor will be responsible for the planning and implementation of skateboarding classes to be held at Mel Nunes Skatepark in Newark. Responsibilities include teaching fundamental techniques, promoting safety, and creating an encouraging environment where participants can build confidence and have fun while learning to skate.

REQUIREMENTS

• Must be Available for a variety of shifts and times to meet program needs including weekends. 
• City application (Only accepted via Calopps)
• At least 18 years old at the time of application submission.
• Equivalent to a high school diploma, G.E.D., or California High School Proficiency Examination
• Must successfully pass a TB test before an appointment, which is at your own cost.
• Required to submit to a City Fingerprint Background Investigation. 
• Must be able to demonstrate teaching a beginner skateboarding class for youth in a city recreation program that showcases introduction of basic skills and keeps participants engaged, while promoting a fun and safe learning environment.
