The City of Menlo Park is seeking engineering professionals, with exceptional technical and project management skills, for Senior Civil Engineer positions in the Public Works Department (Department) Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Division. The Senior Engineer will lead capital improvement projects under the supervision of the City Engineer or Public Works Director. The CIP team delivers projects for City owned facilities including streets, buildings, storm and domestic water, and parks. The Senior Civil Engineer is responsible for executing CIP projects from planning through completion and managing assigned staff.

We have an exciting internship opportunity available at the City of Millbrae’s Public Works Department - Engineering Division. This is an open-ended internship without a specific term, and is a fully on-site position with a minimum of 16 hours per week commitment (not to exceed 1,000 per fiscal year).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

ROLE

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

The incumbent receives general direction from the Director and provides direction and supervision to assigned professional, technical, and clerical staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Plans, manages, oversees and directs the professional and technical engineering work in the design, investigation, project management and construction of street, storm drainage facilities, sanitary sewer facilities, parks, park irrigation systems, water production and distribution facilities; reclaimed water, buildings, and other projects.

Experience: Three (3) years of engineering experience in transportation with one (1) year of the experience being after acquiring the Professional Engineering License. 

Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in transportation engineering or closely related field. 

License: Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's license at time of appointment. Possession of a certificate of registration as a Civil Engineer, Electrical Engineer, or Traffic Engineer in the State of California.  

OTHER REQUIREMENTS 
Essential duties require the following physical abilities and work environment: ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, squat, climb and lift up to 30 pounds and to work outdoors or in a confined workspace.

The Engineering Group Manager – Facilities will oversee a diverse and talented team responsible for managing the planning, design, and construction of capital projects at the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA). This individual will lead the delivery of high-impact projects ranging from transit infrastructure upgrades to the improvement and rehabilitation of maintenance yards and other critical facilities. ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Gilroy is currently recruiting for a full-time Senior Civil Engineer for the Engineering Division of the Public Works Department. In this exciting opportunity the incumbent will play a pivotal role in shaping infrastructure and overseeing key projects vital to the growth and development of the City of Gilroy. This role offers a unique blend of technical expertise, leadership, and strategic planning making it an ideal role an engineering professional looking to make tangible differences in the lives of the Gilroy residents.
 
The Senior Civil Engineer will work under the direction of the City Engineer and/or the Public Works Director and will lead the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Section. This supervisory position will lead a team of engineers and technicians in the implementation of the City’s CIP, including the planning, design, construction, and inspection of a variety of projects.  Responsibilities include supervising employees, directing complex professional-level field and office engineering assignments, developing strategies and schedules for implementing the CIP, assisting with CIP budgeting, and playing a significant role in making a difference in the community! 
 
The Senior Civil Engineer classification is an exempt, mid-management level position.

Public Works CIP projects involve planning, design, coordination with end users, bid package preparation, and construction management. Therefore, exceptional organizational and project management skills are imperative to achieve department and City goals. Additionally, successful performance requires the ability to independently implement programs, projects, and policies in conformance with generally accepted standards, including possessing thorough knowledge of contract administration, project management principles and supervisory practices.

The Senior Civil Engineer will manage assigned staff and consultants and assist with budgeting tasks within the Engineering Division. Furthermore, the Senior Civil Engineer will provide and participate in critical team leadership to ensure that all engineering services, goals, projects, and initiatives meet the high-performance standards of the Department and City.
