THE POSITION

The City of San Mateo is seeking a Per Diem Human Resources Technician providing a wide variety of technical human resource work in a variety of program areas including benefit administration; recruitment and selection; compensation; human resources information systems database analysis and report writing, and to do related work as required. This position receives general supervision from the HR Director or Senior HR Analysts.

EXAMPLE DUTIES

• Prepare and maintain personnel records.
• Write, edit and prepare digital and print communications materials.
• Assist in the recruitment process by preparing and distributing job announcements, composing, and placing ads, composing and recording announcements for the job hotline, updating and monitoring recruitment information on the City’s web site, screening applications, and answering inquiries from applicants.
• Work with departments in coordinating examination schedules and locations; prepare necessary correspondence for the examinations; notify candidates; enlist the services of examination board members; assemble and mail packets to oral board members.
• Process, update, and maintain invoices and accounts payable.
• Gather and assemble data and prepare routine reports; maintain a variety of records and files.
• Screen calls and visitors, referring inquiries as appropriate, and respond to requests for information regarding general personnel matters.
• Use specialized technical equipment or computer programs.

Summary
Under general supervision, performs a variety of complex skilled irrigation, grounds mainten­ance and landscape tasks in accordance with District policies and procedures; works indepen­dently and exercises judgment; ensures daily workload is carried out through individual and cooperative efforts; performs preventive maintenance of District-owned properties; and performs related duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of technical duties to ensure accurate and timely data entry and processing of various financial records; documents financial transactions in general ledger accounts; reconciles bank, accounting and payroll data; analyzes journal
• Develops and implements plans for daily/regularly-scheduled park irrigation maintenance; installs, repairs and maintains irrigation equipment, as necessary.
• Establishes water budgets for each park facility; audits and calculates park/facility water usage, analyzes and interprets data and provides monthly reports.
• Investigates and develops new methods and/or improvements to existing methods that result in effective management and conservation strategies of limited water resources.
• Evaluates and makes recommendations, provides technical expertise to District staff, and provides reports to supervisor regarding water conservation objectives.
• Provides irrigation/water management training to staff.
• Assists in the design and makes water usage/conservation recommendations for new parks/ rehabilitation projects.
• Assists in seeking grants for water efficiency devices.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

• May be required to drive District or personal vehicle.
• May provide technical work guidance to Groundskeepers, contractors or temporary staff; participates in prioritizing irrigation/maintenance/water conservation workload and monitoring work of other employees for completeness, accuracy and conformance with departmental standards; provides information, instruction and training on work processes, proper uses of equipment, and safe work practices.
• Participates during disasters or when emergency response is needed

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education/Experience: A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be: graduation from high school or GED equivalent and two years of pertinent experience in installing and maintaining landscape irrigation systems; or an equiva­lent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small-group situations to other employees and visitors.

Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Position Summary

Under general supervision of the Director of Planning and Principal Planners, manages projects and performs work tasks to support the department’s work program, which includes service and operations planning, short- and long-range planning, facilities planning, and compliance reporting for all three of the District’s operating divisions.

 

This position advances the District’s business interests by analyzing complex operating conditions and recommending detailed changes, producing reports and planning studies, researching and interpreting relevant regulations, and meeting with internal staff and external stakeholders on a wide variety of topics. Work may require the use of specialized software, such as GIS and Hastus, and travel to District facilities and off-site meeting locations. May supervise and assign work to Associate Planner(s) and Planner(s) as directed.

 

Essential Responsibilities

• Research, compile, analyze, and interpret complex technical, demographic, economic, financial, and other statistical data for the development of transit plans and projects, such as the District's transit service plan, transit capital improvement program, and proposed bridge toll or transit fare changes.
• Monitor, forecast, and evaluate transit service performance and patterns of bridge traffic, parking, and transit service patronage and recommend changes where necessary.
• Prepare or supervise preparation of routine evaluations of the efficiency and effectiveness of bus and ferry routes, schedules, major transit facilities, and bus stops. Recommend specific improvements based on these evaluations.
• Prepare or oversee preparation of major compliance documents, including the Short-Range Transit Plan (SRTP), National Transit Database (NTD), Title VI, and other federal and state reports, including the organization of internal stakeholder meetings to provide input on these reports.
• Prepare official recommendations and informational reports for consideration by the public, the District’s Board of Directors, and technical staff of the District or other agencies and groups.
• Prepare or assist with verbal presentations to staff groups, public groups, and the boards of local municipalities and advise District personnel on matters related to interactions with these groups.
• Support and coordinate staff responsibilities regarding other internal and external coordination meetings as directed. May participate in public meetings and hearings.
• Act, when directed, as liaison between the District and other agencies on planning matters by reviewing outside reports, attending meetings, drafting correspondence, and providing technical information to public agencies and other transit groups.
• Develop and coordinate changes to the District’s routes and fares in the Clipper and Genfare systems.
• Provide staff support to the District’s public advisory committees, including attendance at off-site meetings and/or meetings that occur outside normal business hours.
• Formulate short- and long-range plans or recommendations on transit services; coordinate service planning, detour, and bus stop issues with local jurisdictions when needed.
• Study and research physical characteristics of areas served by Golden Gate Transit; assess conditions of roads and related features; determine the physical and operational feasibility of transit routes and bus stops.
• Assess feasibility of transit service changes and develop plans for implementation. May use Hastus scheduling software as appropriate.
• Analyze possible environmental impacts that could result from proposed service, operations, or pricing changes to the District’s transit or bridge operations.
• Obtain encroachment or other permits as necessary to address the District’s business needs.
• Perform bridge traffic or transit demand projections and studies based on available travel data, community surveys, U.S. census data, and development reports from cities served by the District.
• Conduct geographical and demographic analyses of existing and potential District customers using socioeconomic data from passenger or other market research surveys. May use geographic information system (GIS) software as appropriate.
• Develop, coordinate, and conduct bus and ferry passenger surveys; analyze data from those surveys and prepare related reports.
• Review environmental impact reports and statements and project plans within the Golden Gate Transit service area and assess potential impacts to the District’s operations.
• Support environmental reviews related to the District’s transit projects.
• Research and interpret applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations relating to transportation, planning, or environmental permit activities.
• May supervise and assign work to Associate Planner(s) and Planner(s) as directed.
• Perform other related duties as required or assigned.

• 26 City-owned buildings/facilities and their grounds
• A fleet of over 250 vehicles and pieces of equipment
• 97 miles of streets
• Drinking water delivery for 16,000 customers

• Multimodal transportation services including 42 traffic signals, safe routes to schools and citywide shuttle programs.

San Mateo County Health- San Mateo Medical Center seeks well-qualified candidates for the position of Program Coordinator I in the Patient Access Division. The current vacancy is a full-time, limited term vacancy. The duration of the assignment will last about 6 months.

THE DEPARTMENT

The South San Francisco Fire Department provides its residents with service in fire suppression; first-responder and ambulance transport emergency medical services; hazardous materials response; urban search and rescue; marine rescue and fire prevention, investigation and public education. The Department operates five (5) fire stations throughout the City, plus an Emergency Operations Center and Fire Training Tower and is comprised of 92 dedicated staff members.

IDEAL CANDIDATE SECTION

The City of South San Francisco is seeking a dependable and service-oriented individual to join our Fire Department team as a Fire Courier. This essential role provides logistical support to ensure the operational readiness of all five City Fire stations and assists city-wide departments through reliable mail, materials, and records handling.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

• Provides logistical support to all five of the City’s Fire stations and departments by delivering essential supplies and materials to maintain operational readiness.
• Picks up, sorts, and delivers interdepartmental and USPS mail, packages, and materials to City departments and external entities; processes outgoing mail, meters postage, and maintains departmental records of postage use.
• Assists in maintaining and retrieving City records from storage, ensuring timely delivery to appropriate departments.
• Operates a City vehicle safely and efficiently during daily tasks.
• Uses handcarts and lifting devices to transport materials as needed.
• Operates a personal computer to manage inventory and storage records.
• Maintains positive working relationships with staff and the public through courteous and professional interaction.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

Ability to use standard office equipment, including a computer; sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, twist, and maintain sustained posture in a seated or standing position for prolonged periods of time; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone; lift from the ground and carry 60 pounds; move several boxes via hand truck or cart. Travel to different sites and locations; must maintain safe driving record; maintain a clean and neat appearance.

Licenses/Certificates:

• Possession of a valid California driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
• Valid CPR “Healthcare Provider” card (American Heart Association or equivalent) is highly desirable. Selected candidate without a CPR card will be provided training by the department

Minimum Qualifications for consideration: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: 

Education/Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by college level course work in chemistry, biology, environmental science or a related field.

Experience: Two years of increasingly responsible environmental inspection, sampling, and enforcement experience including some experience with industrial wastewater pretreatment programs.

License or Certificate: Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver’s license. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Grade I Environmental Compliance Inspector certificate. Possession of a Grade II Environmental Compliance Inspector certificate is desirable

Position Summary

Under general direction of the Deputy General Manager of Bus, the Bus Transit division, contributes to the mission of Golden Gate Transit by ensuring that Golden Gate Transit has the best possible trained Bus Operators. This position will monitor Bus Operator instructors, including observing the road operations to ensure adherence to Operating and Safety Policy and Procedures; monitor Bus Operators for safe operations of vehicles, uniform compliance; and enforcement of District rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. It will also monitor and document Bus Operator Students’ performance, responds to and investigate accidents.
 

Essential Responsibilities

• Oversees training classes for newly hired bus operators, including obstacle course, classroom and “over the road” instruction by delivering standardized curriculum.
• Monitors classroom curriculum, including itinerary, lesson plans, training and testing materials and implement training for newly hired and existing bus operators and for other bus training requirements.
• Oversees the following training: 
  1. Refresher training for bus operators returning to work after extended absence. 
  2. Verification of Transit Training Classes for existing bus operators and other commercially licensed employees who need to maintain V.T.T. status. 
  3. Re-train bus operators as directed by disciplinary hearings on accidents or rule violations. 
  4. Trains Driver Instructors and Transportation Supervisors on new equipment and provide them with outlines and checklists. 
  5. ADA training for persons with disabilities in partnership with passenger relations and planning department. 
• Acts as designated D.M.V. examiner in the testing and certification of bus operators and/or coordinates with D.M.V. to get student operators V.T.T. cards and license conversations.
• Ensures maintenance of complete and accurate documentation on every facet of training and testing for each student as required and mandated by state and federal governments.
• Monitors progressive trainees and performs regular individual coaching/counseling and progress evaluations of student operators. 
• Provides training and guidance as well as work assignments to Driver Training Instructors
• Supervises Bus Operators fitness -for -duty as they report to work, including observing for divergencies from normal behavior patterns, uniform appearance, grooming and possessions of driving credentials and medical card.
• Works with the Director of Transit Training and Safety on compliance with D.O.E., D.O.T., and D.M.V. training and documentation requirements
• Prepares and/or attends D.M.V. or CHP audits.
• Handles terminations and separations of trainees who fail to meet minimum standards during the program.
• Coordinates local Bus Roadeos, represents GGT as necessary and assist in the structure and the presentation of the annual Regional Bus Roadeo
• Instructs and monitors operations of G.F.I farebox and radio systems.
• Performs driver safety observations by riding on board buses or observing from a moving vehicle or fixed location and provide written reports on these observations. 
• Issues infractions for violations of safety policy and procedures as well as testifies on training or related fields at bus operator hearings, arbitrations, or trials. 
• Ensure employees under their supervision follow established safe work practices and obey all safety rules.
• Assists in collision investigations as required or requested.
• Knows and follows the safety and health rules and safe working practices applicable to his or her job.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with District employees, customers, vendors, and all others contacted during the course of work using principles of excellent customer service.
• Performs additional related duties as assigned.
• Regular and reliable attendance and performance are required.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience equivalent to:

• Bachelor’s degree in transportation studies, public administration, education, or related field. Additional qualifying position-related experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis in lieu of the education requirement.
• Position requires a minimum of five-years commercial driving experience as an inter-city transit Full Time Bus Operator.
• In addition, must have two-years of classroom training and/or instruction experience and three-years supervisory experience that includes staffing, counseling, coaching, training, motivating and disciplining others. 
• Must have intermediate and proficient computer skills. including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Power Point. Computer aided dispatching software experience is preferred.
• Experience in traffic collision investigation and or safety enforcement is preferred. 
• Experience as a Transit Transportation Supervisor is desirable.
• Must be available to work weekends and nights.

The Bilingual Spanish Psychiatric Social Worker / Marriage and Family Therapists will provide specialized psychiatric assessment, brief treatment, and clinical case management services for adult clients with Severe Mental Illness. Principal duties will include mental health and substance use assessment and treatment; engaging clients to services; consultation with providers; and linkage/referrals to other community providers. The main role of this position will be working within a dynamic multi-disciplinary team to provide specialized psychiatric casework and care coordination, provide individual and group psychotherapy, case management, and refer clients to Private Provider Network and/or community agencies for additional services.

 

The primary duties will include care coordination for a clinical case load, mental health assessments; treatment planning, case management; crisis management; individual psychotherapy; and collaborating with multidisciplinary team which includes psychiatrist, registered nurses, PSW SW and LMFT, and Case managers. Clinician will also perform “Officer of the Day” duties.

 

Collaboration and coordination of services with other providers is an essential piece of the services to be provided, therefore candidate should have excellent oral and written communication skills. The clinician may consult and collaborate with other teams in BHRS and community agencies and contract providers.
