Summary Description

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor/coordinator, the Senior Recreation Leader is responsible for implementing programs at a given site, including administering program curriculum and supervising program staff.  This is an at-will, intermittent, part-time, hourly wage position without City-paid benefits.  Work a flexible work schedule, which may include evening, weekdays, weekends and holidays.

Representative Duties

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices:

• Implement all daily activities of a given program, including administration of program curriculum, leading program activities, monitoring and enforcing program rules and regulations, maintaining a safe environment and collecting any necessary paperwork.
• Instruct program participants in rules, model appropriate behavior, monitor strict adherence to program guidelines and enforce rules.
•      Exercise sound judgment in addressing behavior problems.
•      Responsible for appropriate use, maintenance and storage of all program supplies and equipment.
•      Establish and maintain a respectful and courteous working relationship with participants, volunteers, staff and those contacted in the course of work.
•      Exhibit enthusiasm and support for the program.
•      Assist with training and directing staff and volunteers to ensure program activities are accomplished.
•      Provide information and open communication with appropriate individuals.
•      Perform other program-related duties as assigned.

Facility and Sports Field Attendants work in the formal Suisun City classification of Recreation Specialist I. Starting hourly rate will depend on qualifications. This position works on average 19 hours per week.

The Department: The Recreation, Parks and Marina Department is responsible for the operations and programs of the Suisun City Marina, the Senior Center and the Joseph A. Nelson Center, including preschool, after-school programs at various sites, recreation classes and sports leagues, community events and special event rentals.

The Finance Manager is an at-will, single independent classification within the District.

The Finance Manager position is responsible for directing, managing, coordinating, and participating in the District’s financial activities and operations, including accounting, financial planning and reporting, debt issuance, budgeting, treasury and investment portfolio, payroll/benefit administration, financial system management/administration, and implementation and monitoring of internal controls. Course Instructors have the opportunity plan curriculum in your area of expertise and share that knowledge with a class size of 5-15 students. We need instructors for all types of programs and classes at the Community Center, with a focus on adult/senior education. We are looking for instructors with skill levels able to teach their craft to others with multiple years of experience. Class interests include everything from fitness, balance, card games, arts and crafts, music, and special interests.  At Mill Valley Arts and Recreation, we embrace a culture of diversity and invite instructors to deliver the highest quality inclusive recreation programs to our community.

DEFINITION: Plan, organize and execute personal curriculum program classes. Program hours based on class date, time, location with your direct supervisor.  Preparation hours can be discussed.
