We equip you with the skills to handle emergency & non-emergency calls, dispatch police officers, and operate advanced communication systems.

Starting Pay: $53,545/year ($25.74/hour) 

Promotion to Police Dispatcher: $60,507/year ($29.09/hour) 

Growth Potential: Up to $77,209/year ($37.12/hour)

Work-Life Balance

• 10-hour shifts (4 days a week)

• Rotations every four months

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:  Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade. Additional specialized training in communications or a related field is desirable. 

Experience: Some emergency or non-emergency dispatch experience is desirable. 

License/Certificates: Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Terminal Operator Certificate within one year of employment. 

Special Requirements: 

• Must be 18 years of age as of the date of hire
• United States citizen or meet citizenship requirements
• High School Diploma or GED
• Good moral character with no felony convictions

A Police Officer serves under general supervision, performing essential law enforcement duties to protect life and property while enforcing applicable laws. Officers may also carry out special assignments as needed, along with other related duties.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have completed a California P.O.S.T. Certified Police Academy
• Must be 21 years of age as of the appointment date
• High school graduate or G.E.D., (as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education)
• U.S. citizen or a permanent resident alien who is eligible and has applied for citizenship

Out-of-State Candidates:

The California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) will conduct an evaluation of all out-of-state training. POST is the sole authority on applicable training and determines whether the candidate must attend an abbreviated academy, or a regular police academy. If an academy is required, the candidate will be hired as a Police Officer Trainee. Upon completion of the academy, promotion will be made to Police Officer.

Selection Process:

All qualified applicants will be invited to appear before an Oral Appraisal Board. Applicants passing the Oral Board examination will be placed on the eligibility list based on their Oral Appraisal Board rankings. Prospective employees will be required to pass a physical agility examination and undergo a thorough background investigation including a medical, psychological, polygraph and drug/alcohol screening.

Phase I Includes:

• 99 Yard Obstacle Course (time limit 25 seconds)
• Body Drag (165 pounds) (time limit 14 seconds)
• Chain Link Fence (time limit 10 seconds)
• Solid Fence (time limit 13.5 seconds)
• One Mile Run (time limit 10 minutes)

Phase II: For candidates progressing to the Chief’s Oral Interview process

• 1.5 Mile Run (time limit 15 minutes)
• 15 Military Style Push-ups without stopping

The Police Officer Trainee position is the entry-level role for those who have not yet attended the Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certified academy.

The academy lasts six months and is the first step in your law enforcement career. Upon successful completion, officers perform a variety of law enforcement duties to protect life and property in accordance with applicable laws.

Starting salary for trainees is $30.68 per hour while attending the academy, plus excellent benefits.

After successfully completing the Police Academy, trainees are promoted to Police Officer with a salary increase to $35.06 per hour. We are seeking a hands-on, mechanics and electronics savvy Instrumentation Technician to join our Public Works Sanitation division. This position maintains, repairs, inspects, plans, modifies, designs, installs and calibrates instrumentation, electrical, and SCADA control systems for wastewater treatment facilities; maintains a spare parts inventory; and trains operations staff in the understanding of instrumentation and control systems related to the process operation.

Details:

• Full-time regular position, 9/80 schedule with every other Monday or Friday off.
• Salary range $35.80 to $45.70 hourly with Excellent Benefits.

The City is interviewing to fill several openings for part-time positions.  Apply immediately to be considered.  Regular assignment and substitute (on-call) positions are available.  Hours for the 24-25 school year are typically 1-1.5 hours in the morning and 1-1.5 hours in the afternoon depending on the school location and schedule.

Primary responsibilities:

• Monitor and assist in crossing of school-age children during peak traffic times at select locations.
• Provide appropriate safety instruction for children crossing streets and intersections.
• Watch traffic flow and wait for an appropriate gap between vehicles to lead groups of school children safely across a street.
