POSITION SUMMARY

The Wildfire Resilience Coordinator will manage projects related to the overall MRCA efforts regarding wildfire resilience, including tracking and analyzing existing funding sources related to wildfire preparedness and response, supporting staff project as defined by the early action wildfire resilience plan, coordinating with other MRCA and SMMC staff members working on wildfire related projects and programs, preparing and documenting further regional needs.

This position requires a highly motivated, responsible, organized and self-starting individual who can handle an array of tasks at the same time as part of standard workload, has good judgment and can make decisions, and works well independently and as part of a small team.

This is professional and technical work pursuant to the terms of grants, contracts, and applicable regulations, involving frequent communication with others. Project managers must also build community and political support, seek funding opportunities, actively cooperate with other government agencies and non­profit organizations, and keep abreast of related planning processes. The work performed will support MRCA’s capital Workprogram for wildfire resilience including improvements, workforce development, ignition prevention and suppression, inspection and monitoring and structure hardening and other MRCA efforts related to public access, open space conservation, habitat restoration, and urban park development. Special projects assigned or led by the Chief of Staff will be supported by this position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Implement multiple projects simultaneously: The project manager is the central point of contact on all issues concerning assigned projects and will be responsible for project quality. Perform project tracking, scheduling, and budget management.
• Coordinate between MRCA divisions to track agency-wide wildfire resilience efforts and guide the agency towards accomplishment of big picture wildfire resilience priorities.
• Perform day-to-day administration of grants, prepare required reports and ensure conformance with grant agreements. Analyze, verify and obtain payment approvals for invoices.
• Interagency coordination: Coordinate with Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy grantees to perform tracking and data management on wildfire resilience grants.
• Coordinate with Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy, its grantees, and regional stakeholders to advance wildfire resilience efforts in Southern California.
• Determine project scope, options, and alternatives to overcome constraints. Revise as often as needed to address unexpected conditions.
• Demonstrate proactivity to initiate and drive projects, leveraging past experiences, consulting with colleagues, and referencing relevant documentation to successfully launch and manage projects without established precedents.
• Oversee consultants and contractors, manage contracts, coordinate project team and collaborate with coworkers to ensure that the project scope is completed according to grant agreements, schedules, and cost limits. Assist in selection of consultants/contractors.
• Write and coordinate grant proposals and research new funding opportunities for wildfire resilience and workforce development related planning efforts.
• Cooperate with other team members to accomplish project goals; provide support to coworkers on other projects.
• Produce written materials including staff reports, text for publication, proposals, progress reports, and a variety of other documents.
• Write comprehensive reports based on samples, summarizing and analyzing information to provide clear conclusions in the sample's format and style

• A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from a college or university that is accredited by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET)
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in civil engineering office and field work performing professional level engineering work, and

• A Master's Degree in any branch of Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one (1) year of experience

LICENSES& CERTIFICATION
• Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is required at time of appointment and for duration of employment

The Position: 
An incumbent in this classification is responsible for the safe operation of an assigned swimming pool, including supervising pool personnel, overseeing conduct of pool events, ensuring  collection and security of revenue, and attendant record keeping.  Candidates must be able to serve a variety of ages, abilities and needs in participants from diverse backgrounds with tact and professionalism.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Tiny Tots Instructor will teach assigned classes of pre-school children ranging in ages from 18 months to 5 years old in enrichment, recreational and educational based programming (Tiny Tots Aide will assist).

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (This is a general description of duties and is not all-inclusive)

• Develop and instruct weekly lesson plans (i.e. art, free play, enrichment, and circle time).
• Supervise preschool age children indoors and outdoors.
• Maintains a variety of program records and prepares reports relevant to program area.
• Ensures that activities run smoothly and according to program objectives and guidelines and general department philosophy.
• Maintain direct communication with parents and families.
• Encourage and support early childhood development.
• Clean tables, floors and play areas when need arises.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED AND RECEIVED

Tiny Tots Preschool Lead (Activity Specialist III)

• Must have 6 academic units at the junior college level in an Early Childhood Education program and 18 months experience in a recreation or structured child care setting for preschoolers.

Program Assistant - Receptionist

Salary Range: $18.52 - $30.68/hour, depending on experience.

DEFINITION

Perform a wide variety of general clerical and/ or operational support duties at the Danville Community Center and/ or Senior Center. Incumbent serves as the facility receptionist, assisting with customer service-related questions and issues, and directing callers and visitors according to established procedures.
 

• This is a part-time temporary, non-benefitted position.
• 0-20 hours per week; not-to-exceed 950 hours per calendar year.

SUPERVISION

Direct supervision is received from the Administrative Assistant with indirect supervision from the Recreation Superintendent. May exercise supervision of part-time personnel and volunteers as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Essential duties are inclusive of, but not limited to the following:

• Serve as first point of contact with the public; responds to information requests regarding services, classes, and events offered by the Town by email, in person or over the phone.
• Perform a wide variety of routine office duties to support department operations including filing, preparing basic reports, and program registration.
• Register participants, and support facility reservations using Active Net software.
• Performs cash handling duties, process payments, and issue receipts. 
• Assist in proofreading the Activity Guide and other marketing materials.

A Responsible individual is needed to maintain and enforce proper city procedures and policies in our parks, parking lots and ball fields.   Park monitors will perform park inspections and enforce park policies, supervise patrons, renters and daily facility management. Park monitors and parking lot attendants must stand firm on policies, control diverse situations and always possess a friendly disposition and professional demeanor.  Park monitors and parking lot attendants must also have the ability to communicate and respond to customer service concerns, handle all weather conditions and be reliable with a strong work ethic and personal integrity. Park monitors and parking lot attendants will be required to wear a city uniform while on duty.
