Applications are being accepted for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic – Lateral Transfer with the City of South San Francisco in the Fire Department.

THE DEPARTMENT

The Fire Department operates five (5) fire stations throughout the City which are staffed 24-hours per day, plus an Emergency Operations Center and Fire Training Tower. Two fire stations have paramedic ambulances. The City of South San Francisco is the only Fire Department in San Mateo County providing its own paramedic transport services. The Paramedic ambulances respond to medical emergencies, as well as structure fires and other hazardous incidents. The department cross-staffs a Type I/Heavy Urban Search and Rescue, an OES Type VI Engine, and two Fire/Rescue Boats.

The Fire Department is an active participant in the San Mateo County automatic aid system and responds regularly in support of neighboring jurisdictions throughout the county, including the San Francisco International Airport.  Department members are eligible to participate on FEMA USAR California Task Force 3, sponsored by the Menlo Park Fire Protection District.  The department is also an active participant in the Bay Area Maritime Search and Rescue Council and regularly trains with other fire agencies and the United States Coast Guard.  

The City is planning for the replacement and expansion of two of its existing fire stations, modernizing and relocating the facilities to better serve the public.

In support of the San Mateo County automatic aid agreement, all entry level candidates will attend a regional, county-wide, fire academy where they will be introduced to all agencies in the county and rotate through a variety of training sites.  The roughly 12-week academy also includes specialized training depending on candidate certifications.

The South San Francisco Fire Department exists to protect the members of our residential and business communities, our neighbors and visitors, their property, and environment.  We will work to prevent injury and damage through education, fire prevention and to respond to the impact of fire, medical emergencies, natural and human-caused disasters, and release of hazardous materials. 

THE POSITION

An eligible employment list will be created for the position of Paramedic/Firefighter and will be used to fill current and future vacancies.  This classification encompasses the full range of firefighter duties and Paramedic Ambulance Transport Services.  Incumbents currently work a 2/4 work schedule with a 24-hour work cycle (2/24 hour shifts with 4 days off). Training is provided to protect life, property, and the environment from the risks of fire, explosion, and hazardous materials. 

THE DUTIES

Incumbents perform paramedic ambulance transport services, engage in medical aid, firefighting, and all other suppression and prevention activities to protect life and property; drive, operate, and maintain fire apparatus and equipment; assist and participate in training, inspections, and related fire prevention and public education activities. 

The Community

The Organization 

Incorporated in 1927, Menlo Park is a general Law city operating under a Council-Manager form of government. The City Council is the City’s five-member governing body whose members are elected by district for four-year overlapping terms in general municipal elections. The Mayor and Vice Mayor each serve one-year terms and are selected annually by the City Council. The City Council appoints the City Manager and City Attorney as well as members of the Planning Commission and numerous advisory boards. The City Manager appoints all executive and management level positions. City staff report to one of six departments: Administrative Services, City Manager’s Office, Community Development, Library and Community Services, Police, and Public Works, which includes Menlo Park Municipal Water. Fire protection and sanitary services are provided by separate special districts. The City is supported by 296 FTE and has over 55 funds with a total expenditure budget over $216 million. As evidence of the City’s sound financial stewardship and solid financial standing, Menlo Park consistently maintains an AAA bond rating, in large part due to its healthy reserves and strong revenue base. In addition to its many attributes, Menlo Park has one of the most beautiful civic center campuses in the Bay Area. Heritage trees, a running fountain and a duck pond surround City Hall. The campus also includes a nine-acre park, recreation facilities and the Menlo Park Library. These civic amenities make the campus a noted destination for residents, local employees and visitors. The Department

This position falls within the City Manager’s Office, which, under the direction of the City Manager, has responsibility for staff organizational management, personnel appointment, preparation and execution of the City budget, as well as administration of city ordinances and policies adopted by the City Council. The City Manager's Office provides administrative support to the City Council and advisory commissions, in addition to working closely with the City Attorney's Office. The City Manager’s Office also includes the following key functions:

As an integral part of the City Manager’s Office, the Economic Development division ensures that the City addresses the needs of local businesses and provides opportunities for their success. This also includes regular outreach to local businesses to offer assistance through referrals to state and federal programs, strategic planning for expansion approval, and marketing/networking opportunities. This division creates and maintains partnerships with multiple economic development associations, community-based organizations, and state and federal resources to market Menlo Park as an attractive location for businesses.

The Position

The City of Menlo Park is seeking a dynamic and experienced Economic Development Manager to join the City Manager’s Office. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape and lead innovative programs that enhance the local economy, reimagine and activate the built environment, and attract, retain, and support businesses in the world class community of Menlo Park.

The Position:

The Assistant City Manager works directly for the City Manager in the Office of the City Manager. The Office is responsible for the general management and oversight of Daly City’s municipal operations, including the North County Fire Authority and North San Mateo County Sanitation District. This involves service and coordination to multiple agencies and municipalities.  Additionally, the general management of the operating and capital budgets;
financial planning for the municipal corporation; continued improvement, expansion, or redirection of programs and activities within the organization to meet community needs; recommendation of senior management personnel; participation in labor relations activities; generating public information, facilitating conversation and information exchange with citizens, encouraging community participation; and representing the organization in  
inter-jurisdictional matters with other agencies as designated by the City Manager.

These duties are carried out under the direction of the City Manager through the implementation of City Council policies and legislative actions. The Office of the City Manager is responsible for implementation of the City Council and community’s vision and priorities.

The Department

The Library and Community Services department is responsible for providing excellent customer service through recreational, educational, and cultural programs for children, adults and seniors. Our facilities include 221 acres of parkland distributed among 13 parks, two libraries, two community centers, two public pools, three childcare centers, two gymnasiums, and one gymnastics center. Included in the parks and recreation areas are tennis and pickleball courts, dog parks, softball diamonds, picnic areas, playgrounds, soccer fields, a skate park, shared use of a performing arts center and open space.  The City of Menlo Park is preparing to open a state-of-the-art new facility that will incorporate a community center, gymnasium, aquatics center, senior center, youth center, and branch library in 2024.

This is a journey-level class in the Police Records Specialist classification series responsible for maintaining information in specialized departmental databases, preparing and assembling reports, processing payments, and preparing and processing subpoenas, requests for information, and other documents. All activities are performed within specified legal guidelines. Incumbents are expected to work independently and exercise judgment and initiative. Management (Budget) Analyst

Are you someone who enjoys working with numbers, solving problems, and making an impact behind the scenes?  The City of Belmont is looking for a Management (Budget) Analyst to join our Finance team. This role is ideal for someone who wants to make an impact through thoughtful budgeting, financial analysis, and cross-department support.

As a Management (Budget) Analyst, you'll work under the direction of a Finance Manager to help develop the City’s annual budget, support financial planning efforts, and keep key systems running smoothly. You’ll be hands-on with both day-to-day operations and longer-term projects that support Belmont’s financial health.

This position is classified as Management Analyst I or II, with the working title of Budget Analyst.
Placement will be made at either level depending on experience and department needs.

What You’ll Do:

• Assist in preparing the annual operating budget and 5-year capital improvement plan

• Maintain the City’s budget system and provide end-user support and training

• Analyze trends in revenues and expenditures, and prepare financial reports and presentations

• Coordinate budget transfers and amendments

• Manage chart of accounts alignment and process documentation

• Support payroll processes, audits, and financial system upgrades

• Research local, state, and federal regulations for financial impacts

The Organization

The City of Pacifica is a general law city and operates under the Council/Manager Form of Government. Legislative authority is vested in a five member City Council elected at large, one of which is appointed Mayor by the Council. The Department

The Public Works Department is responsible for maintaining and repairing the City’s infrastructure and wastewater treatment operations in an efficient and cost-effective manner while providing a high level of customer service and a safe work environment for city employees. The Department maintains parks, playing fields and medians and keeps streets and trails clean and well-maintained. The Department also coordinates the tree program, cleans beaches and coordinates the City Beautification program. 

The Public Works Department is organized into three divisions including Wastewater Treatment Operations, Field Services and Engineering. The Wastewater Treatment Operations includes the operation of the wastewater treatment and water recycling treatment plant and management of the collection system. Field Services oversees the maintenance of city streets, parks, trees, vehicles and public facilities. The Engineering Division manages public infrastructure projects, transportation planning and maintenance and repair of the City’s infrastructure. The Public Works Department is supported by 56 full-time staff with 29 in the Wastewater Division. The Wastewater Division has an annual operating budget of $14 million along with a FY2022-23 CIP appropriation of $ 10.1 million.

The Community

Over half of the land in this small city is protected open space with numerous city, county and state parks. More than one thousand acres belong to the famed Golden Gate National Recreation Area. These bountiful parklands give Pacifica a spaciousness rarely found in suburban areas, yet it is only three miles from San Francisco’s southern border and less than 20 minutes to downtown. Minimum Qualifications

Education and Experience:

• College level course work in chemistry, engineering or related field. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in Civil Engineering, Chemistry, or related field is desirable.
• Five years of progressively responsible administrative and supervisory related experience in Wastewater Treatment at a public agency. Extensive experience in operations and maintenance of pump/lift stations highly desirable.

Licenses Required:

Must possess a valid California Class C driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record. Possession of a current Grade IV Wastewater Collections System Maintenance Certificate as issued by the California Water Environment Association is required.
