San Mateo County Health - San Mateo Medical Center and its outpatient clinics are seeking experienced Certified Medical Assistants - Spanish Speaking Preferred to join our care teams. Under direct supervision of licensed staff, Certified Medical Assistants (CMAs) perform a variety of patient care and other services required to treat patients in a health services outpatient or mobile clinic.

The current vacancies are Regular vacancies and Extra Help vacancies. Future vacancies may include extra-help, limited term, unclassified, and regular classified positions.

Extra Help - Extra-help positions are short-term employment for up to 1040 hours which is equivalent to about six months; however, employment might end sooner depending on the needs of the hiring departments. Extra-help assignments are at-will and the employee is paid on an hourly basis. Some extra help positions are eligible for benefits under the Affordable Care Act. Extra-help workers are not guaranteed permanent status at the end of the extra-help assignment.

Term - Term positions are designated for a specific and limited period of time, anywhere from 6 months to a maximum of 3 years depending on the assignment. Benefits package for term positions are similar to regular positions EXCEPT for retirement. Term employees receive a 401A retirement package and are not eligible for retiree health benefits or a defined benefit pension.

Unclassified - Unclassified positions are at-will for a limited duration, typically associated with grant or other special funding. These positions are not covered by San Mateo County Civil Service Rules; and there is no formal probation period. The following are the same for classified and unclassified positions: salary, increases and other forms of compensation; accrual of sick leave, vacation, overtime, holiday and leaves of absence; health, dental, vision, long & short term disability, and retirement.

Medical Services Assistants II who are assigned to the clinics and perform advanced patient care duties as defined in the classification specification shall receive a differential of 6.2% in addition to all other compensation.
 

Examples Of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Accurately take and record the condition, respiration, pulse, temperature and blood pressure of patients; record other pertinent information as observed or measured.
• Apply non-sterile dressings and administer non-medicated treatments under the supervision of a registered nurse, licensed physician, surgeon, podiatrist, nurse practitioner or physician assistant.
• Carry out rehabilitation procedures as directed by therapists; perform a range of motion body movement with/for patients; position and exercise patients.
• Assist in therapeutic milieu programs.
• Advise patients on the use of restorative equipment.
• Observe and practice proper isolation techniques.
• Operate various types of sterilization equipment.
• Transport specimens, medical records and related items.
• Enter and retrieve a variety of information in automated systems.
• Greet patients at clinics and escort patients.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

 
With additional training and/or certification(s), some employees may perform the following duties under conditions required by code and department policy:

• Perform injections including immunizations.
• Perform finger stick tests of all types including glucose testing.
• Perform skin tests including PPDs.
• Perform venipuncture and blood draws.
• Perform hearing and vision tests.
• Perform waived CLIA tests including dipstick UAs, and pregnancy tests.
• Provide for proper tracking and recording of laboratory tests.
• Take patient histories including risk factors.
• Set up, administer and record the results of EKGs.
• Follow provider orders regarding prescribed treatments including assisting patients with self-administration of medications.
• Teach and counsel patients on a variety of health related subjects as directed.

 

Qualifications

Certification Requirement:
Possession of a Medical Assistant Certificate or a certificate of completion or degree from an accredited medical assisting program is required. A certificate of completion of an approved medical assisting program must be submitted at the time of application.

Bilingual Fluency:
Some positions may require bilingual skills. Fluency in both English and Spanish is required to be considered for a bilingual position.

Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to qualify is:

One year of experience in an outpatient clinic or doctor's office as a nurse's assistant or medical assistant.

Knowledge of:

• Principles, techniques and procedures specific to area of assignment.
• Principles and techniques in delivering patient care services related to personal hygiene, comfort, treatment, transportation, rehabilitation and physical or psychosocial needs.
• Infection control.
• Diagnostic imaging.
• Safe lifting techniques.
• Theory and practice of total body substance isolation.

• Elder and child abuse, and domestic violence reporting requirements.

Edison Clinic provides comprehensive patient-centered HIV primary care services to persons living with HIV (PLWH) within San Mateo County as well as provides services in diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) to all San Mateo county residents. The Mobile Health Clinic/Street and Field Medicine program provides field-based medical care focusing on homeless, formerly incarcerated, and farmworker/farmworker family member individuals. PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND ENVIRONMENT WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires sitting, standing, walking on level and unlevel or uneven and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping, and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties.   The position also requires both near and far vision; the need to lift, carry and push tools, equipment, and supplies weighing 55 pounds or more is also required.  Additionally, the incumbent in this outdoor position works in all weather conditions, including wet, hot, and cold.

The Department: 

The Department of Public Works (DPW) constructs, maintains and improves various components of the City’s infrastructure providing quality, cost-effective, and timely services for the residents and businesses of Santa Clara. DEFINITION 

As a Building Attendant, you will be responsible for the daily upkeep and maintenance of the Burlingame Community Center, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all occupants. This role requires a hands-on individual with excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills.

Hours: (Average 10-20 hours per week). 

Shifts include:
Monday-Friday: 7:30am-12:30pm
Monday-Friday: 2:30pm-9:15pm
Saturday/Sunday: 7:30am-1:15pm

As needed: Private rentals as late as 2:00am

Shifts depends on special events and rentals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  (include but are not limited to the following)
Opens and closes the building, provides excellent customer service, and maintains a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. Performs regular cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning windows and mirrors, restocking and sanitizing restrooms, emptying trash and recycling, and wiping down surfaces. Assists with event and class setup and takedown of tables, chairs, and equipment, operates audiovisual equipment, and ensures renters follow facility policies, completing final walk-through reports as needed. Staffs the front desk to greet visitors, answer questions, answer phones, take messages, and process registrations and sales.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILLS:  
Knowledge of: Operation of a community center; department rules and policies; availability of current classes; basic mathematical functions; janitorial work (including but not limited to: glass and wall cleaning, dusting, trash pickup, restroom clean up, emptying of trash cans, cleaning of kitchen, etc.).

The annual salary range for this position is $183,055.44 - $236,892.24.  This position will be filled at or near the minimum of the salary range.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Possession of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Public or Business Administration, Planning, Economics, Finance, or a closely related field AND five (5) years of progressively responsible municipal administrative experience in community development, housing development, planning, real property, economic development, or finance. At least two years of management experience working with senior managers on significant development projects is required.

OR

• Education equivalent to the completion of 60 semester units/90 quarter units from an accredited college or university, with a major in Public or Business Administration, Planning, Economics, Finance, or a closely related field AND six (6) years of progressively responsible municipal administrative experience in community development, housing development, planning, real property, economic development, or finance. At least two years of management experience working with senior managers on significant development projects is required. 

Desirable Qualifications

• A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, Finance, Urban Studies, Planning or a closely related field is desirable.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS

Possession of an appropriate, valid California driver's license is required at time of application and for the duration of employment.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are currently hiring for a Maintenance Worker I to fill one vacancy with our Streets Division Teams. Under general supervision, this position will perform semi-skilled maintenance and repairs of City streets, sanitary sewers, storm drains, park and recreation landscaped areas, and other related work.

BASIC EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance-related duties involving manual labor of facilities, parks, storm drains, streets, etc.
• Repair irrigation systems, tools, recreation, and maintenance equipment
• Operate various motorized equipment such as  a tractor, gang mower, power mower, and other equipment
• Plants, waters, mows, prunes, sprays, and maintains hedges, lawns, trees, flowers and shrubs
• Maintains parks, restrooms, and common spaces. 

Willing to assist in these areas:

• Participates in the construction, maintenance and repair of streets, curbs, gutters, sewers, storm drains, catch basins, barricades, sidewalks, parks, landscaped areas, and recreation equipment and facilities;
• Pours and finishes concrete;
• Operates cleaning equipment;
• Cleans out catch-basins and other storm-related preventive maintenance and removes litter from parks and other facilities;
• Operates compressors and pneumatic tools;
• Operates and makes minor repairs and adjustments to heavy power-driven equipment;
• Constructs forms for and does cement work;
• Performs brick work and building construction and maintenance work;
• Builds retaining walls;
• Repairs irrigation systems, tools, recreation and maintenance equipment; drives a truck, tractor, gang mower, power mower, and other light motorized construction equipment; plants, waters, mows, prunes, sprays and maintains hedges, lawns, trees, flowers and shrubs;

The City of Pacifica is currently recruiting for a Permit Technician to join our team. Under general supervision, the incumbent will perform a variety of technical and administrative duties in support of the Community Development Department, including providing information to the public.

ESSENTIAL AND IMPORTANT DUTIES:

• Greet/acknowledge customers who contact the Community Development Department while assessing the nature of issues with appropriate and timely responses.
• Review, process and issue various permits and applications utilizing the City’s permit and project tracking system.
• Provide information concerning various permit and application requirements, codes and inspection procedures to internal and external customers, contractors, design professionals and the public.
• Receive and respond to inquiries from the public, contractors, developers, City employees, and other parties.
• Establish filing systems; maintain records, files, databases, and reference materials; assist with plan/map filing.
• Calculate and collect fees; track applications including researching and resolving billing issues with various parties.
• Prepare a variety of reports, letters, agreements, and other correspondence.
• Prepare and distribute Commission and Committee agenda packets. Attend meetings as needed.
• Post notices and prepare mailings for public hearings on individual properties.
• Schedule building inspections.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
