San Mateo County Health - San Mateo Medical Center and its outpatient clinics are seeking experienced Certified Medical Assistants - Spanish Speaking Preferred to join our care teams. The current vacancies are Regular vacancies and Extra Help vacancies. Future vacancies may include extra-help, limited term, unclassified, and regular classified positions.

Extra Help - Extra-help positions are short-term employment for up to 1040 hours which is equivalent to about six months; however, employment might end sooner depending on the needs of the hiring departments. Extra-help assignments are at-will and the employee is paid on an hourly basis. Some extra help positions are eligible for benefits under the Affordable Care Act. Extra-help workers are not guaranteed permanent status at the end of the extra-help assignment.

Term - Term positions are designated for a specific and limited period of time, anywhere from 6 months to a maximum of 3 years depending on the assignment. Benefits package for term positions are similar to regular positions EXCEPT for retirement. Term employees receive a 401A retirement package and are not eligible for retiree health benefits or a defined benefit pension.

Unclassified - Unclassified positions are at-will for a limited duration, typically associated with grant or other special funding. These positions are not covered by San Mateo County Civil Service Rules; and there is no formal probation period. The following are the same for classified and unclassified positions: salary, increases and other forms of compensation; accrual of sick leave, vacation, overtime, holiday and leaves of absence; health, dental, vision, long & short term disability, and retirement.

Medical Services Assistants II who are assigned to the clinics and perform advanced patient care duties as defined in the classification specification shall receive a differential of 6.2% in addition to all other compensation.
 

Examples Of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Accurately take and record the condition, respiration, pulse, temperature and blood pressure of patients; record other pertinent information as observed or measured.
• Apply non-sterile dressings and administer non-medicated treatments under the supervision of a registered nurse, licensed physician, surgeon, podiatrist, nurse practitioner or physician assistant.
• Carry out rehabilitation procedures as directed by therapists; perform a range of motion body movement with/for patients; position and exercise patients.
• Assist in therapeutic milieu programs.
• Advise patients on the use of restorative equipment.
• Observe and practice proper isolation techniques.
• Operate various types of sterilization equipment.
• Transport specimens, medical records and related items.
• Enter and retrieve a variety of information in automated systems.
• Greet patients at clinics and escort patients.

With additional training and/or certification(s), some employees may perform the following duties under conditions required by code and department policy:

• Perform injections including immunizations.
• Perform finger stick tests of all types including glucose testing.
• Perform skin tests including PPDs.
• Perform venipuncture and blood draws.
• Perform hearing and vision tests.
• Perform waived CLIA tests including dipstick UAs, and pregnancy tests.
• Provide for proper tracking and recording of laboratory tests.
• Take patient histories including risk factors.

Qualifications

Certification Requirement:
Possession of a Medical Assistant Certificate or a certificate of completion or degree from an accredited medical assisting program is required. A certificate of completion of an approved medical assisting program must be submitted at the time of application.

Bilingual Fluency:
Some positions may require bilingual skills. Fluency in both English and Spanish is required to be considered for a bilingual position.

Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to qualify is:

One year of experience in an outpatient clinic or doctor's office as a nurse's assistant or medical assistant.

Knowledge of:

• Principles, techniques and procedures specific to area of assignment.
• Principles and techniques in delivering patient care services related to personal hygiene, comfort, treatment, transportation, rehabilitation and physical or psychosocial needs.

Edison Clinic provides comprehensive patient-centered HIV primary care services to persons living with HIV (PLWH) within San Mateo County as well as provides services in diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) to all San Mateo county residents. The Mobile Health Clinic/Street and Field Medicine program provides field-based medical care focusing on homeless, formerly incarcerated, and farmworker/farmworker family member individuals. • Field Monitors assist in the supervision and enforcement of rules, ordinances, and policies of City athletic fields, parks, and open spaces.

DEFINITION 

As a Building Attendant, you will be responsible for the daily upkeep and maintenance of the Burlingame Community Center, ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all occupants. This role requires a hands-on individual with excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills.

Hours: (Average 10-20 hours per week). 

Shifts include:
Monday-Friday: 7:30am-12:30pm
Monday-Friday: 2:30pm-9:15pm
Saturday/Sunday: 7:30am-1:15pm

As needed: Private rentals as late as 2:00am

Shifts depends on special events and rentals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  (include but are not limited to the following)
Opens and closes the building, provides excellent customer service, and maintains a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. Performs regular cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning windows and mirrors, restocking and sanitizing restrooms, emptying trash and recycling, and wiping down surfaces. Public Safety Dispatcher I is the entry level class in the Public Safety Dispatch series.  Performs a variety of duties involved in receiving, evaluating, prioritizing, and relaying calls for emergency and non-emergency public safety assistance; dispatches appropriate units and coordinates response of emergency personnel; operates a variety of telecommunications equipment including radio, telephone, and computer aided dispatch systems; and performs a wide variety of specialized clerical duties involved in the preparation, maintenance, and release of materials related to law enforcement activities.

SELECTION PROCESS

Application Evaluation:  The qualifications of each applicant, as set forth in the application, will be continuously reviewed by the Police Department and Human Resources. Applicants who pass the initial Application Evaluation Test will advance to the next testing phase, the Interview.   Note: Meeting the minimum qualifications does not guarantee advancement in the selection process.  

Those candidates who successfully pass the Interview phase of testing will be certified to a Hiring Eligibility List and the top three (3) scorers will be referred to the Police Department for a selection interview with the Chief of Police.  A select number of candidates will be authorized by the Chief to advance to the Background Investigation, including Fingerprinting. 

Conditional Offer of Employment:  Candidates who pass the Background Investigation will receive a Conditional Employment Offer and will advance to the pre-employment medical examinations, which will include medical psychiatric and physical examinations, including drug testing.

The City of Pacifica is currently recruiting for a Permit Technician to join our team. Under general supervision, the incumbent will perform a variety of technical and administrative duties in support of the Community Development Department, including providing information to the public.

ESSENTIAL AND IMPORTANT DUTIES:

• Greet/acknowledge customers who contact the Community Development Department while assessing the nature of issues with appropriate and timely responses.
• Review, process and issue various permits and applications utilizing the City’s permit and project tracking system.
• Provide information concerning various permit and application requirements, codes and inspection procedures to internal and external customers, contractors, design professionals and the public.
• Receive and respond to inquiries from the public, contractors, developers, City employees, and other parties.
• Establish filing systems; maintain records, files, databases, and reference materials; assist with plan/map filing.
• Calculate and collect fees; track applications including researching and resolving billing issues with various parties.
• Prepare a variety of reports, letters, agreements, and other correspondence.
• Prepare and distribute Commission and Committee agenda packets. Attend meetings as needed.
• Post notices and prepare mailings for public hearings on individual properties.
• Schedule building inspections.

Examples of Duties
 

Plans, coordinates, staffs, prioritizes, monitors, directs, evaluates and participates in the City's code enforcement activities, including investigating conditions, initiating procedures and providing educational programs to abate violations  involving, zoning ordinances, building codes, housing codes, public nuisances, property maintenance, abandoned vehicles, animals, license regulations and other issues relating to health, safety and welfare of the community for public and private residential, commercial and industrial property; performs the more difficult complex duties as needed; ensures safe work practices, work quality and accuracy.

Serves as the lead investigator and subject-matter expert for complex or high-profile code enforcement cases.

Coordinates closely with sworn personnel, public works, fire prevention, planning, and legal staff to address multi-jurisdictional code violations.

Maintains accurate case records, reports, and documentation to support administrative actions, citations, or legal proceedings.

Represents the City and the Police Department at hearings, city council meetings, and community outreach events.

Responds to public inquiries and complaints with professionalism, empathy, and technical expertise.

Monitors trends, emerging community issues, and legislative changes impacting code enforcement operations. Assures that assigned areas of responsibility are consistent with local, State and Federal regulations; stays current on related policies, regulations and trends.

Participates in the development of policies and procedures; develops and recommends programs and projects to higher level personnel.

Participates in the selection and training of personnel; assumes responsibility for motivating and evaluating assigned personnel; provides necessary training; initiates discipline procedures as is appropriate.

Assists with the preparation and development of the budget; monitors approved funds and tracks expenditures to support accurate financial management; Prepares budget reports and recommends adjustments as needed; maintains supply inventories and supply and budgetary records; prepares requisitions and orders needed materials, parts and equipment.

Establishes positive working relationships with representatives of community organizations, state/local agencies and associations, City management and staff and the public.

Must be available to occasionally work evenings and weekend hours and/or respond to emergencies.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Graduation from high school or equivalent, and at least five (5) years of municipal code enforcement experience with at least one (1) year in a lead or senior role. Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in planning, construction technology or a related field may be substituted for two (2) years of the experience requirement. Building inspection experience is highly desirable.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATE

Possession of and the ability to maintain a valid California Class C driver's license and a safe driving record. Certification from CACEO (California Association of Code Enforcement Officers) or similar organization is preferred or must be obtained within one year of appointment.
Possession of an I.C.B.O.
Building Inspection certificate (or other similar
professional certification) is desirable and may be substituted for two years of the
required experience. Penal Code 832 certification is also desirable.

OTHER INFORMATION

Since this position works out of the police department and will have access to Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) and other data sources protected by State and Federal law, this position is required to complete an extensive background verification, which includes non-sworn personnel DOJ and FBI level livescan fingerprinting requirement and psychological evaluation.  The background process may also include the use of a polygraph examination.
