This is an excellent job opportunity for individuals interested in law enforcement. 

This is a recruitment for the entry-level class of the Police Services Aide series.  Incumbents perform work according to established procedures and routines, although an employee may be required to make decisions involving emergency circumstances.  Detailed instructions are given on assignments and work is reviewed while in progress.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Operates computers, and other communications equipment; answers a variety of questions from the public and handles a variety of front desk services ; receives and processes phone calls for Police assistance; maintains detailed records of Police phone and radio calls and their disposition; types routine reports and miscellaneous correspondence; processes documents and maintains files in accord with standard procedures; maintains files, receives money, and issues receipts; prepares daily reports and transactions; may assist with animal control duties when needed; fingerprints applicants; assist with property room functions including transporting property to and from court; and performs related work as required.

Also, assist with community engagement events, conducts traffic control and in field equipment delivery, supports patrol staff with equipment maintenance and supply replenishment.

THE POSITION

To perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the construction, maintenance, and repair of streets, sidewalks, signs, water meters, sewers, storm drains, pump stations and tree maintenance. 

The purpose of this recruitment is to hire a Temporary / Part-Time position.  Applicants who do not meet the minimum qualifications for the Maintenance Worker I position may be considered for employment as an Intern.  Temporary / Part-Time employees work no more than 130 hours per month AND 960 hours per fiscal year. Typical work schedule will be three 8-hour shifts per week, excluding weekends and evenings.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The Ideal Candidate for this position should have previous Road Maintenance experience; sidewalks, driveways, roads, curbs, and gutters, although not required. The Ideal Candidate will be able to follow directions, demonstrate good communication skills (orally and in writing), be flexible, arrive on time, have good attendance, a positive attitude, be able to work independently with limited supervision, and a willingness to take on and learn new skills. Possessing a Class B commercial Driver’s license is desired, though not required upon hire.  

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Operate a variety of light and moderately heavy construction and maintenance equipment including such pieces as a loader, dump truck, water truck, rubber-tired and steel rollers, rubber-tired tractor with all attachments (except backhoe attachment), striping equipment, and trencher to perform a variety of routine construction and maintenance operations.  Spread asphalt in patching and repairing streets.  Use concrete cutting equipment; operate a jackhammer; pour and finish concrete; construct concrete forms and perform rough carpentry work.  Paint and install traffic markings on streets, crosswalks, parking lots, and curbs; operate a striping truck; manufacture and install traffic signs and remove signs no longer required.  Install and remove traffic control barricades and cones.  Assist in a variety of tree maintenance activities including low limb, stump routing, tree watering, and tree planting.  Utilize proper safety precautions and comply with policies and procedures in the Department Illness and Injury Prevention Program.  Operate equipment and vehicles with possession of all necessary licenses and certificates.  Regular and consistent attendance.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Respond to inquiries from the general public.  Clean storm grates and drains.  Perform work in emergency situations as required.  Perform minor and preventive maintenance on paint spraying equipment, compressors, sprayers, compactors, and other construction equipment.  Work cooperatively with others.  Perform related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High School diploma or equivalent.  

Experience: One (1) year of work experience in construction or related field.  

License or Certificate: Possession of a valid California Driver's License required upon hire.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

18-week training program that teaches basic technical and job-readiness skills to prepare participants for a IAM Local 1414 Registered Apprenticeship for the Automotive Mechanic, Machinist, Auto Body Painter, or Body and Fender Repairer. The 18-week program includes eighteen (18) weeks of free academic training through City College of San Francisco, as well as nine (9) weeks paid on-the-job experience. All equipment and uniforms are provided by the program. Individuals are expected to attend all classes and work assignments to complete the program.

First nine (9) weeks of program at CCSF Evans Campus 8 am-4 pm Mon-Thurs. (unpaid)

Second nine (9) weeks 1/2 day class, four (4) hours at CCSF Evans Campus, and four hours a day, four days a week for nine weeks (paid) On-The-Job training.

Under immediate supervision, the 9940 Pre-Apprentice Automotive Mechanic performs semi-skilled trainee work designed to introduce career options and role models in connection with the operation, maintenance and repair of automotive vehicles. As part of a Pre-Apprenticeship program, incumbents learn about the work environment, required skilled mechanical work, and real-life experience to help them find employment as an apprentice and eventually as a journey mechanic. NATURE OF WORK:

• Emergency Response Support: Provide emergency medical care at the basic life support level and provide support services to Firefighter/Paramedic crews at prolonged incidents including fires, medical emergencies, rescues, and hazardous materials incidents. The Position

The City of Fremont's Human Services Department is seeking temporary employees to work evening shifts, from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. during winter months (approximately October 13, 2025, through April 30, 2026). This position plays a vital role in supporting the temporary Winter Relief emergency shelter program, which provides a safe and welcoming environment for individuals and families experiencing homelessness.

Winter Relief Monitors will work under the direction of a Senior Program Coordinator and be responsible for up to 20 hours of work per week.

Training will include topics including harm reduction, de-escalation, Critical Time Intervention (CTI), and local community-based resources.

• Foster a supportive and respectful environment through empathetic communication, addressing emotional challenges that may arise during participant transitions.

The Newark Recreation and Community Services Department is looking for Aquatic Instructors (Swim Instructors) for our fantastic swim lessons and aquatic programs, to work at the Silliman Activity & Family Aquatic Center. The City of Redwood City Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department invites you to apply for the casual position of Human Services Assistant at the Fair Oaks Community Center (FOCC). FOCC is a multi-service agency that offers a variety of programs and services provided by City staff and non-profit and public agency partners. This position provides a variety of administrative and operational support functions while also providing customer service to customers of all ages and backgrounds. In particular, the Human Services Assistant will support the Information and Referral/Emergency Services Program that provides vital safety net, homelessness intervention, and homelessness prevention services to low-income families, single parents, seniors, disabled persons, persons experiencing homelessness, and individuals seeking assistance in meeting their basic needs and strengthening their economic self-sufficiency.

This is a non-benefited, casual (temporary) position, scheduled to work flexibly, 10-20 hours per week.
