The Department: The Recreation, Parks and Marina Department is responsible for the operations and programs of the Suisun City Marina, the Senior Center and the Joseph A. After School Program Technician I's work in the formal Suisun City classification of Recreation Specialist II. Starting hourly rate will depend on qualifications. This position works on average 19-29 hours per week.

The Position: Under general supervision, this position involves organizing, leading, and coordinating a variety of indoor and outdoor recreational and educational activities for an Afterschool Program. This role is classified as Temporary Part-Time to support both seasonal and year-round recreational programs.

Representative Duties:
• Assisting with planning, delivering, and leading program activities as needed.
• Interacting and leading participants in arts, crafts, games, and sports.
• Supporting the planning and implementation of specialized activities, instructor plans, programs, and events.
• Assisting with curriculum development and planning weekly schedules.
• Checking in participants.
• Scheduling, coordinating, and chaperoning field trips.
• Organizing, teaching, guiding, and directing activities for youth.
• Additional duties as requested.

• Participating in the development and administration of the City’s annual budget; monitoring expenditures; preparing long range financial forecasts; and supervising mid-year budget reviews.
• Planning, directing, and participating in audits of City finances; performing the technical duties of Treasurer; managing City cash and assessment district investments; and overseeing the preparation of quarterly investment, redevelopment, and other financial reports.
• Preparing and managing the department budget; forecasting staffing, material, and supply needs; presenting and defending departmental programs and expenditures; monitoring expenditures; and implementing budget adjustments as needed.
• Serving as a resource to City staff, department personnel, and external organizations by coordinating information, resources, and collaborative efforts that support a productive and positive work environment.
• Attending professional and community meetings; remaining current on developments in municipal finance and administrative services; fostering a customer-service oriented culture; and responding to sensitive and complex inquiries and concerns.
• Establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with community representatives, business organizations, governmental agencies, and City staff.

This salary range(s) includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience. 

Position Duties  

The Department of Public Works is recruiting to fill three (3) Building Inspector-Electrical Specialty, Combination/Certified I/II/III/Senior positions within the Engineering Services Division, Code Inspection Section.   

The Building Inspector Combination/Certified I/II/III/Senior position will be located subject to business need. This position will provide inspection support at a variety of City of San José facilities, including the Airport, Regional Wastewater Facility and Central Service Yard.  

Key responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:  

• Conduct inspections of industrial, commercial, manufacturing, and facilities to ensure compliance with codes, regulations, ordinances, standards, and contract agreements which includes setting up inspection schedules; gathering information and evidence; and, ensuring conformance to plans, specifications, and safety regulations.   

• Investigate building, construction, and land use changes in the field by gathering factual data to ascertain present use of land and location of structures; conducting background investigations and research; and preparing reports to use as evidence.   

• Provide technical assistance for development of codes and policies.   

• Generate written reports and enforcement orders which includes noting deficiencies in standards and submitting final documentation.   

• Review plans and specifications for compliance with codes which includes assisting in projects in complying with regulations, prioritizing deficiencies, and preparing timetables.   

• Provide technical support for agencies and the public which includes inputting data into system for general public access.   

• Meet with architects, engineers, City officials, and building contractors to discuss construction projects.   

• Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

This position will serve as a key member of the City Manager's Office, providing professional-level analytical, project management, and program administration support on a variety of complex organizational initiatives. The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Parking Services Manager in the Transportation Division of the Public Works Department! 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead 15 dedicated parking staff delivering parking and mobility services to the Berkeley community. The parking portfolio includes three access-controlled City owned garages containing 1250 parking stalls and electric vehicle charging, plus paid on-street parking with hundreds of pay stations and thousands of parking meters. The City also has an extensive residential permit parking program. 

The Parking Services Manager is expected to manage revenue growth and control costs for a parking program that generates almost $14M annually. This position liaisons regularly with the City’s parking enforcement staff in the Police Department to coordinate these efforts. In addition to fiscal stewardship for long-term fiscal sustainability, parking is to be managed to produce additional benefits such as minimizing additional vehicle miles travelled and greenhouse gas emissions by pricing parking to generate turnover and availability. 

Responsibilities also include management of vendor contracts (parking meters, parking applications, enforcement, permit issuance, usage tracking, and industry support) and oversight of staff responsible for adjudication of parking citations, meter repair mechanics, coin collection, parking planning and operations, along with electric mobility staff. This position must provide technical expertise, vision, and managerial skills to lead this diverse team delivering customer friendly parking and mobility services.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college with major courses in business administration, public administration, or a closely related field, and four (4) years of experience with management and supervisory responsibility for revenue collection functions or business facility management and development. Progressively responsible related experience may be substituted for the college course work on a year-for-year basis.

Certification as an Administrator of Public Parking (CAPP) by the International Parking Institute highly desirable. 

Must be able to travel to various locations within and outside the City of Berkeley to fulfill the job responsibilities. When driving on City business, the incumbent is required to maintain a valid California Class C or higher driver's license as well as a satisfactory driving record.
