The Position: Under general supervision, this position involves organizing, leading, and coordinating a variety of indoor and outdoor recreational and educational activities for an Afterschool Program. This role is classified as Temporary Part-Time to support both seasonal and year-round recreational programs.

On April 29, 2025, Suisun City Council approved a new contract between the Suisun City RPM Department and the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District (FSUSD). This agreement expands after school programming to include to grades TK-5 at Dan O. Root Elementary and Crescent Elementary Schools, making the Suisun City RPM Department the sole provider of after school services at both locations. This is a significant milestone for the RPM department and a reflection of the quality and dedication of our team.  We are excited to continue providing high-quality programs for our community's youth.

The Department: The Recreation, Parks and Marina Department is responsible for the operations and programs of the Suisun City Marina, the Senior Center and the Joseph A. Nelson Center, including preschool, after-school programs at various sites, recreation classes and sports leagues, community events and special event rentals.

The Position: Facility and Sports Field Attendants work behind the scenes making all Recreation and Community Services excel! This job entails setting up for events and rentals, opening and closing facilities, general janitorial services, sports field preparation, working in concessions and selling food during sports games. ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Neighborhood Response Group (NRG) Coordinator position will be filled within the Management Analyst Series and will be housed in the City Manager’s Office/Administrative Services Department.

The City plans to recruit flexibly within the Management Analyst Series (Management Analyst I or II) and will determine the appropriate level based on the qualifications, experience, and overall fit of the selected candidate. At the minimum, this position will be filled on a part-time basis at 15–20 hours per week.

Based on fit between the candidate and the City, we are willing to consider up to full-time employment, including a benefited position, depending on what the top candidate brings to the table and their ability to fit other needs of the City. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a unique and rewarding opportunity for a community-oriented individual to lead local disaster preparedness efforts and other community related projects/programs. Primarily, you will play a vital role in building community resilience by organizing and empowering residents to prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies. You will develop and manage the City’s Neighborhood Response Group (NRG) program, working directly with Mill Valley residents to strengthen neighborhood connections and provide vital emergency response training. 

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

• Recruiting and mentoring block captains, training volunteers, developing outreach strategies, and serving as a liaison between residents and City Staff
• Supporting the Emergency Preparedness Commission (EPC) 
• Collaborating closely with first responders, local agencies, and community organizations to advance Mill Valley’s public safety and emergency preparedness goals
• Provide additional program development and/or project management as assigned

THE POSITION: 

The Finance Department at the City of San Mateo has an opportunity for an entry level Accounting Assistant I to work in the Accounts Payable section. The Accounts Payable team manages the payment of invoices, expense reimbursements, and credit cards, among other things, for the City as a whole and is part of a team of 18 Finance employees. The Accounting Assistant I will work with the Senior Accounting Assistant to support 11 Departments as well as the San Mateo Consolidated Fire Department.

DUTIES:

Depending upon assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Audit invoices against purchase orders; verify encumbrances; research discrepancies; approve for payment and post to the proper account.
• Open and close accounts; maintain various ledgers, registers, journals, and spreadsheets according to established account classifications.
• Maintain daily transaction records by balancing, preparing summaries, and entering into financial system; maintain records of delinquent invoices.
• Respond to citizen inquiries; research and answer employee and department questions regarding the status of accounts and payments, the proper coding of transactions, and other matters.
• Participate in the preparation of payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable as well as control and account verification of an accounting system.
• Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

• One year of clerical experience, preferably including some financial and statistical record keeping.
• Equivalent to completion of the 12th grade.

• Interest in learning more about a career in local government finance

The City of Millbrae has multiple openings for the Recreation Leader (Summer Camp Counselor) position! This position will focus on our Millbrae Adventure Summer Camp, working as a Camp Counselor.  Hours will vary, and applicants are expected to be available to work full camp weeks. Recreation Leaders are also expected to attend a mandatory, paid training.

Definition: Under supervision, to provide leadership to recreation programs, activities or service; organizes and implements program elements and oversees participants; and performs related work as required.  This is a temporary part-time non-benefited position. 

Essential Duties:  Depending upon assignment, the duties of a Summer Camp Counselor - Recreation Leader I , II or III may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Assists in planning, organizing, and leading summer camp activities.
• Organizes, inventories and maintains necessary facilities and materials.
• Maintains group and individual discipline. 
• Facilitates safe and positive camp experiences
• Follow written curriculum to implement activities including arts and crafts, group games, and sports.  
• Keeps records of attendance, participation.
• Typical duties include: implementation of camp curriculum, record keeping, maintaining supplies, and supervising groups of youth aged 3 to 12.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Special Requirements:   Vision adequate to supervise participants in recreational programs; speak clearly; ability to bend stoop or crouch; physical stamina to supervise groups of youth participating in recreational programs; ability to work off-hours, shifts or events as required; strength to lift and carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds; and the ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather and temperature conditions.

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge of: 

• Common crafts, sports, games and recreation activities appropriate for all ages.
• Principles and methods used in organizing, conducting and supervising a program of recreational activities.
• Record keeping techniques.
• Basic first aid and safety practices and procedures.
• Basic youth development principles.

 Ability to: 

• Conduct daily camp operations including leading groups, activities, field trips, and set-up/break down of activities.
• Prioritize and handle multiple program tasks.
• Think and act quickly in emergencies.
• Judge situations and people accurately.
• Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
• Establish and maintain effective and cooperative relationships with subordinates, peers, supervisors, and the public.

Education & Experience: 

Recreation Leader I:  Current enrollment in high school, with minimum age of 15 at time of appointment.  Must possess a work-permit. No previous experience required.

Recreation Leader II:  Current enrollment in high school, with minimum age of 16 at time of appointment.  Equivalent to three (3) months of full-time experience (approximately 500 hours) of volunteer or paid work experience in recreation programs or equivalent. Depending on area of assignment, previous knowledge of and experience participating in the activity and/or sport is desirable. 

Recreation Leader III:  Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12) grade.  Equivalent to six (6) months full-time experience (approximately 1000 hours) of volunteer or paid work experience equivalent to a Recreation Leader II with the City of Millbrae. Depending on area of assignment, previous knowledge of and experience participating in the activity and/or sport is desirable.

Certificates:  Must possess a first aid/CPR certification, or be willing to obtain one. 

Service Standards:  

Must successfully complete background process.  All candidates will be fingerprinted pursuant to California State Law.  All successful candidates under age 18 must possess a work permit prior to hire.

Summary Description

Under immediate supervision performs semi-skilled to skilled maintenance, repair, and construction work assigned to the streets division; operates maintenance and construction tools and equipment; performs a variety of maintenance tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

Distinguishing Characteristics

This is the entry level class in the Street Maintenance Operator series. This class is distinguished from the Street Maintenance Operator II by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to workers in this series. Employees at this level are not expected to perform with the same independence of direction and judgment on matters related to established procedures and guidelines as are positions allocated to the II level. Since this class is typically used as a training class, employees may have only limited or non directly related work experience. Employees work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks.

Representative Duties

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

1. Handle complaints and answer questions from the public.
2. Remove blight and illegal dumps from city property such as parks, right of ways, roadways, alleys, walkways, sidewalks and refuse disposal. 
3. Remove debris, shrubbery, brush, trash, tires, appliances, electronics, and miscellaneous items.
4. Make minor adjustments on service equipment; maintain tools and equipment in working order.
5. Abates graffiti.
6. Maintain logs of daily activities.
7. Assist in other areas as needed.
8. Perform related duties as required.
9. Repair and replace street surfaces, sidewalks, curbs, and gutters including back filling trenches and evacuations.
10. Perform the maintenance, repair, construction, and installation work of streets, storm drain, parking lots, street lights, traffic striping, and traffic control signs and signals.
11. Remove hazards from the roadway and other public rights of way.
12. Operate a variety of motorized equipment and specialized maintenance equipment.
13. Perform repaving, patching, overlaying, chuck hole, and crack sealing repair of asphalt.
14. Perform underground service alert locating, marking and notification.
15. Lay out and install traffic signs and pavement markings.
16. Repair and maintain storm drain lift stations.
17. Conduct traffic count surveys.
18. Maintain storm detention ponds, including cleaning, repairing, and spraying weeds.
19. Respond to hazardous materials spills.

QUALIFICATIONS
