The Position: Under general supervision, this position involves organizing, leading, and coordinating a variety of indoor and outdoor recreational and educational activities for an Afterschool Program. This role is classified as Temporary Part-Time to support both seasonal and year-round recreational programs.

On April 29, 2025, Suisun City Council approved a new contract between the Suisun City RPM Department and the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District (FSUSD). This agreement expands after school programming to include to grades TK-5 at Dan O. Root Elementary and Crescent Elementary Schools, making the Suisun City RPM Department the sole provider of after school services at both locations. The Department: The Recreation, Parks and Marina Department is responsible for the operations and programs of the Suisun City Marina, the Senior Center and the Joseph A. Nelson Center, including preschool, after-school programs at various sites, recreation classes and sports leagues, community events and special event rentals.

The Position: Facility and Sports Field Attendants work behind the scenes making all Recreation and Community Services excel! This job entails setting up for events and rentals, opening and closing facilities, general janitorial services, sports field preparation, working in concessions and selling food during sports games. SPECIAL PAY INCENTIVES:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Conducts initial and follow-up investigations at scenes of incidents to which summoned or observed; determines what, if any, crime has been committed; collects, preserves, processes, photographs, and books evidence; locates and interviews victims and witnesses; identifies and interrogates suspects. • Prepares and serves search and arrest warrants; apprehends and arrests offenders for crimes committed under federal, state, and local laws and codes; controls and mitigates people under the influence of drugs or alcohol or other potentially hostile situations.
• Directs traffic at special events or emergency situations; provides traffic and crowd control at community and emergency events.

THE POSITION

• Operates light power driven, hand held and "walk behind" equipment and uses shovels, rakes, other hand tools, jackhammers, dump trucks in the performance of assigned duties.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skill, and ability outlined in the job description is:

Level I:

• Sufficient formal and/or informal education to provide the necessary reading and communication skills; AND
• Some prior experience in street maintenance work that would include mechanical and hydraulic repair of pumps, gates, valves, pipelines and related.

Level II:

• Equivalent to graduation from high school.
• Two years of increasingly responsible experience in the operations and maintenance of Public Works sewage pumping stations and gravity sewer lines, equivalent to the Sewer Maintenance Worker I classification at the City of San Rafael.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Within one year of hire as a Sewer Maintenance Worker I, must possess a valid California Driver's License with a tank endorsement to drive the vactor in a training capacity.
• Level II:  Must possess a valid California Class "B" license and have a satisfactory driving record
• Level I and Level II:  Must be willing to work underground, in confined places, in and near bacterially contaminated liquids, and in exposure to unpleasant and potentially hazardous conditions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide customer service and respond to general inquiries regarding Human Resources operations from the community, employees, and job applicants.
• Process employment transactions, enter data into the human resources database, and prepare documents for the bi-monthly payroll.
• Establish, update, and maintain departmental records, files, and databases, while preserving confidentiality.
• Maintain personnel files, contract and vendor files, and assist with records management and retention.
• Assist with the coordination of recruitments.
• Maintain the Human Resources general voicemail, inboxes, and Outlook calendars. 
• Update Employee website and general HR webpage.
• Assist with the coordination of Human Resources events.

UPCOMING PROJECTS

• Will play a key role in the implementation and roll-out of a new Human Resources Information System (HRIS) to digitize and streamline full employment life cycle processes.
• City-wide website update.
• Opportunities for learning, growth, and networking throughout the year.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of the requisite knowledge, skill and abilities. A typical way to obtain these would be: 

• Two Years of general office experience involving extensive customer service. 
• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
• Completion of some college level coursework or certification is desired.

Desirable qualifications:

• Prior experience in a local government agency.
• Prior human resources experience in the areas of employment transaction processing, recruiting, or benefits administration.
• Bilingual, especially ability to communicate effectively in Spanish.​​​​​​

The Associate Planner administers complex current and advanced planning activities, including serving as project manager for complex development applications and special projects. The incumbent administers specified activities in such areas as zoning, advance planning, and environmental impact studies, protection, and compliance, as well as the Capital Improvement Program (CIP). The Associate Planner provides information and assistance to property owners, developers, contractors, and the public, in addition to providing complex professional assistance to the Community Development Director, City Council, Planning Commission, and others in areas of expertise.

The successful candidate will have a great attitude, be a self-starter, detail-oriented, collaborative, capable of managing multiple projects and bringing them to completion, and serve as a contributing member of the planning team.
