Marina Attendants work in the formal Suisun City classification of Recreation Specialist I. Starting hourly rate will depend on qualifications. This position works on average 19 hours per week.

The Department: The Recreation, Parks and Marina Department is responsible for the operations and programs of the Suisun City Marina, the Senior Center, and the Joseph A. Nelson Center, including preschool, after-school programs at various sites, recreation classes and sports leagues, community events and special event rentals.

The Position: Marina Attendants provide assistance and information to marina customers, in person and by telephone; perform marina related inspections and boat checks including seaworthiness boat checks and improvement verifications; perform boat measurement and appearance inspections; monitor dock conditions, check seawall and other dock infrastructure, and clear debris from Suisun City waters; perform impound and auction related activities; interpret, apply and explain policies, regulations, codes and procedures relating to slips, moorings and dock structures; assign space for visiting vessels, calculate and collect fees; maintain inventory and operate marina equipment. We’re looking for highly motivated people with a customer service orientation who genuinely enjoy helping others and who are flexible problem-solvers.

The Position

The Early Childhood Education Coordinator plans and directs school readiness programs (preschool) by providing technical assistance, mentoring, and training to the staff. The planning of children’s readiness to learn involves culturally responsive, integrated service delivery of child development learning environments to a) enhance children’s cognitive, social, and emotional development and b) promote children’s growth in language, literacy, mathematics, science, social and emotional development, creative arts, physical development, and approaches to learning. The ideal candidate is customer service focused; able to work independently; is flexible, punctual, and highly responsible; has excellent organizational and time management skills and has strong written and verbal communication skills.

This job entails assisting with planning and leading program activities, supervising youth in arts, crafts, games and sports, performing participant check-in, reception duties, and assisting with equipment set-up, take down and housekeeping, chaperoning participants on field trips, and opening and closing facilities. The Department

The Suisun City Fire Department was established in 1861. The men and women of SCFD take great pride in the customer service that they provide to all who live, work and travel through Suisun City. SCFD is a mission-driven fire agency that remains focused on customers and safety. It is our goal that all members strive to attain a synergistic balance of education, training, and experience to provide excellent emergency management on every call. SCFD is a combination agency staffed with both full-time and volunteer fire personnel. We currently operate two Type 1 Fire Engines, one Type 3 Fire Engine, Ladder Truck, three Command Vehicles, one Type 5 Fire Engine, Zodiac Rescue Boats, and one USAR Trailer. The Suisun City Fire Department is an ALS (Paramedic) level department, supported by Medic Ambulance for transport services. Station 47 is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Position

The ideal candidate would know and be responsible for performance of the full scope of assigned fire suppression, fire prevention, emergency medical care responsibilities, and for the protection of life and property. New incumbents may have limited related experience but are expected to learn the full range of duties and responsibilities, perform duties with minimal direct supervision, and exercise sound judgment and discretion in making decisions. Firefighters work a 48/96 work schedule, comprised of two 24-hour shifts followed by four 24-hour days off, averaging 56 hours per week.

SPECIAL PAY INCENTIVES:

• POST CERTIFICATE PAY – Additional 2% pay for Basic POST, 5% for Intermediate POST, and 5% for Advanced POST certificates
• SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT PAY – 5% additional pay for special assignments
• LONGEVITY PAY – 3% at 5 years and 6% at 10 years of service
• Up to $10,000 in student loan forgiveness

THE DEPARTMENT: The Suisun City Police Department is a progressive and proactive law enforcement agency. As a result of its proximity to neighboring jurisdictions, the employees of the Suisun City Police Department remain extremely busy as they address the needs of the community.

THE POSITION: Under general supervision of a Police Sergeant or other supervisory/management staff, performs a variety of duties related to the protection of public health, safety, and welfare and the enforcement of applicable federal, state, and local laws; provides traffic enforcement and control; and carries out special assignments in a particular phase of police work. The Police Officer is an entry/journey level class responsible for performance of the full scope of assigned law enforcement duties and responsibilities. New incumbents may have limited related experience but are expected to learn the full range of duties and responsibilities, perform duties with minimal direct supervision, and exercise sound judgment and discretion in making decisions.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

• Patrols assigned areas of the City to preserve law and order, discover and prevent commission of crimes, and enforce traffic and other laws and ordinances; maintains awareness of and remains alert for wanted suspects, known criminals, stolen vehicles, missing persons, traffic violators, and crimes in progress; makes arrests; issues warnings and citations.
• Responds to calls for the protection of life and property, the enforcement of laws and ordinances, general public service calls, and complaints including those involving automobile accidents, traffic hazards, misdemeanor and felony incidents, domestic disturbances, health code and local ordinance violations, property control, civil complaints, and related incidents; responds to and provides assistance at a variety of public service type calls that are non-criminal in nature.
• Conducts initial and follow-up investigations at scenes of incidents to which summoned or observed; determines what, if any, crime has been committed; collects, preserves, processes, photographs, and books evidence; locates and interviews victims and witnesses; identifies and interrogates suspects. • Prepares and serves search and arrest warrants; apprehends and arrests offenders for crimes committed under federal, state, and local laws and codes; controls and mitigates people under the influence of drugs or alcohol or other potentially hostile situations.
• Directs traffic at special events or emergency situations; provides traffic and crowd control at community and emergency events.

The Department

The City’s Volunteer Fire Department is older than the City itself, founded as a volunteer corps in 1861 to replace a U.S. Army fire brigade. The largest volunteer urban Fire Department in California has undergone change to become a combination department, composed of both paid and volunteer staff. In addition, the department provides Advance Life Support (ALS) services and responds to over 3,000 calls for service annually. Staffing includes a Fire Chief, one Deputy Chief, one Fire Marshal, six Fire Captains, six Fire Engineers, an Administrative Assistant and 10 Reserve Volunteer Firefighters. Dispatch is staffed through the Public Safety Dispatch Center housed at the Police Department. Ambulance services are handled through a countywide contract. The Suisun City Department responds to fire, emergency and medical calls, as well as attaching units to wildland strike teams, when possible.

The Position

The ideal candidate will be a team-oriented problem-solver with a focus on public service. Recruits enter a training program to develop skills necessary to demonstrate abilities to respond to emergency fire and medical alarms, to protect life and property, to participate in fire suppression training and emergency medical training, to assist with station, apparatus and equipment maintenance, and to do related work as required. Volunteers are required to participate in a minimum of two 24 hour shifts or four 12 hour day shifts each month and complete assigned training.
