THE POSITION

To perform responsible clerical accounting work involved with billing and collection of utility bills; the maintenance and review of financial and statistical records; the entry of data processing; and/or assisting in the preparation and maintenance of payroll and related records.  The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current vacancy, as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.

 

Finance Clerk I:  This is the entrance level for clerical accounting employees.  Employees in this class normally work under close and continuous supervision performing a group of repetitive or closely related duties according to established procedures. Finance Clerks I are normally considered to be on training status and, as assigned responsibility and breadth of knowledge increase with increased experience, may reasonably expect their positions to be reassigned to the next higher class of Finance Clerk II.

 

Finance Clerk II:  Positions in this class are normally filled by advancement from the lower grade of Finance Clerk I, or, when filled from the outside require prior responsible clerical accounting experience.  A Finance Clerk II works under general supervision and, within a framework of established procedures, is expected to perform a variety of accounting duties with only occasional instruction or assistance.

 

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The Ideal Candidate for the Finance Clerk position will possess excellent customer service skills and maintain professionalism regardless of work environment.  Cash handling experience with proven accuracy and integrity are essential to the position.  Strong communication skills are vital.  Candidates must be able to communicate with internal and external customers with ease and confidence.  The Ideal Candidate will also demonstrate the ability to prioritize multiple competing timelines, remain organized, show attention to detail, as well as being highly trainable.  Regular, predictable, consistent, and timely attendance is an essential function of the position. The ability to communicate in Spanish is highly desirable.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Prepare and process utility bills; collect payments over the counter and through the mail; balance cash drawer and prepare deposits; and process delinquent accounts; Set-up and maintain accounts on a computerized accounting system. Prepare or assist in the preparation of a variety of financial and statistical reports as assigned. Process accounts payable for the City; input purchase orders and blanket purchase orders to be paid into computer system; enter and verify invoices for payment; prepare and print claim report and distribute to City departments/divisions.

 

Process various transactions involving accounts payable, payroll, general ledgers and accounts receivable. Assist customers over the counter with respect to utilities billings, opening/closing accounts, problems, etc.; respond to citizen complaints and/or inquiries, referring more complex issues to higher level of authority as appropriate. Print and mail out renewal notices, delinquent notices, billings changes, etc. Review and check records, forms, and other documents for accuracy, completeness and conformance to rules and regulations. Post a wide assortment of information to records. Process fixed asset requests, invoices and purchase order disbursements. Input a variety of data to computerized record keeping/data processing systems; maintain computerized and/or manual files of correspondence, records, and other documents as assigned. Receive, sort, and distribute in-coming and out-going mail as assigned. Order and maintain supplies. Perform related duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Experience and Education:

Any combination equivalent to the experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying.  A typical manner to achieve the knowledge and abilities would be:

 

Finance Clerk I

Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent.

 

Experience:  One (1) year experience performing clerical or accounting support work.

 

Finance Clerk II

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. 

 

Experience: One (1) year experience performing duties comparable to those of a Finance Clerk I in the City of Woodland.

THE POSITION

This position will perform professional and technical civil engineering work in the design, construction and maintenance of public works facilities. The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current vacancy in the Utilities Engineering Division of the Community Development Department, as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Assist in conducting preliminary studies of engineering projects and help prepare plans for public improvements such as streets, storm drains, sewers, water works, and other public projects. Supervise, coordinate and perform professional engineering work in the design and construction of, streets, sidewalks, water and sewage facilities, and drainage structures, and other public work. Review plans, maps, specifications, cost estimates, and other work for accuracy, presentation, and conformance with established engineering practices. Perform field inspections of public works construction projects, materials testing, survey work and calculations. Prepare preliminary drawings for public works projects, tabulate field data, design improvement plans, specifications, contracts, and other documents.  Make calculations in surveying and other construction work. Assist in preparation of long-range capital improvement programs and budgets. Prepare written staff reports for departmental use and/or presentation to the City Council and City Commissions. Respond to citizen complaints and questions. Assist with property development agreements Prepare plans and legal descriptions for right-of-way acquisition. Prepare reports and applications for State and Federal funding. Supervise, train and evaluate assigned staff. Perform related duties as assigned.

POSITION
To perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the maintenance of City-owned buildings, equipment and facilities.  The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current vacancy in the Public Works Department, as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
The Ideal Candidate will be able to troubleshoot a wide variety of building systems and think outside the box to find solutions that get the problem fixed right the first time.  The candidate must be customer-friendly and be a solutions-oriented professional who is flexible in dealing with shifting priorities.   Successful candidate will also be able to respond to after-hours emergencies on short notice and demonstrate the ability to work independently.  Project management, plumbing, and HVAC skills are highly desirable. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Maintain and repair City facilities, equipment, and building by performing a variety of semi-skilled and skilled carpentry, electrical, painting, plumbing, heating, air conditioning and mechanical repair work.  Inspect building facilities to identify building maintenance and custodial needs; research and recommend effective solutions to maintenance and repair needs of the City.  Inspect, determine, and perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on assigned facilities and equipment.  Assign routine and special tasks to subordinates; coordinates the work of contractors and other assigned staff with other City employees and contractors.  Work cooperatively with others.  Regular and consistent attendance. 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Operate a variety of equipment including power saws, power sanders, drills, paint sprayers, plumbing snakes and rodders, routers and grinders.  Operate, maintain and repair a variety of mechanical equipment such as generators, engines and sump pumps.  Determine quantity and types of supplies, materials, tools and equipment needed for maintenance programs and projects; arrange for purchase and procurement of same; assure that maintenance equipment and tools are kept in good working order.  Read and interpret sketches, diagrams, drawings and blueprints.  Assist in the research and implementation of department policies and procedures.  Maintain time, material and equipment use records.  Troubleshoot, maintain and repair the City’s lock system.  Perform work in emergency situations.  Perform related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:  Two (2) years of experience performing duties comparable to those of a Facility Maintenance Worker II.

License and Certificate:  Required upon hire, possession of valid California Driver's License.  Building Operator Certification is desired.

Under general supervision, the Swim Instructor’s Aide assists in teaching swim lessons to persons of all ages. Some evening and weekend hours may be required. Mandatory pre-season in-service training sessions will be held in June.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists in developing lesson plans for aquatic activities and helps maintain pool records, including program registrations and safety reports. Provides First Aid and CPR when necessary and aids in teaching swimming lessons to participants of all ages. Follows city policies and procedures and performs other assigned duties as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Age Requirement:                                         

• At least 14 years of age

Experience:

• No prior experience necessary.
• Recommended exposure to swimming lessons instruction or working with young people in an organized environment and/or participation in the Junior Lifeguard program.

Knowledge of:           

• The City of Woodland’s Swim Lesson Program and basic pool policies and procedures.

Ability to:

• Communicate clearly, both in oral written forms.
• Collaborate well with colleagues and others encountered during work.
• Swim proficiently and showcase various swimming techniques. 

Certifications:

• Standard First Aid, CPR in adult, child, and infant (or equivalent)
• American Red Cross Water Safety Aide is recommended.
• Exposure to American Red Cross Lifeguard Training is desirable.

 

SALARY SCHEDULE

$16.90-$17.90 per hour, based on experience and years of service.

The City of Dixon is recruiting qualified Lifeguard/Swim Instructor I/II applicants for the 2026 Aquatic season.

Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor and Senior Lifeguard/Swim Instructor, Lifeguard/Swim Instructor performs a variety of duties to ensure the City of Dixon swimming pool is a safe and enjoyable aquatic facility. Supervises pool patrons, enforces pool rules, performs first aid and emergency rescues, instructs swim lessons, performs cashiering duties, leads recreational activities; performs related and other work as required.

Staff may be expected to work weekends and on fixed holidays.  Those who work on a City Holiday will earn 1 1/2 times their base hourly salary.

• Familiarity with lifeguard rescue and life-saving techniques.
• The American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program and basic pool policies and procedures, or equivalent.

Ability to:       

• Demonstrate all lifeguard training skills effectively. 
• Swim proficiently and showcase various swimming techniques. 
• Communicate clearly in both oral and written forms. 
• Collaborate well with colleagues and others encountered during work.

Certifications:

• American Red Cross Lifeguard Training with CPR and First Aid (or equivalent)
• Ability to obtain training in First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (Title 22 equivalent)
