Position Summary

Under general direction, performs work in connection with a wide variety of engineering projects related to inspections, repairs and upgrades of District bridges, buildings and other structures and facilities. About the Division

Position Duties

Salary range for the classification of Chief of Surveys is:

$133,682.64 - $162,860.88 Annually. This range includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable pay. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience.

The Department of Public Works is recruiting for (1) Full-Time Chief of Surveys position to provide the following typical duties and responsibilities which may include but are not limited to:

• Supervises an office technical staff in the preparation of drawings, corner records, record of surveys, reviewing improvement plans and specifications, parcel maps and tract maps.

• Provides direction and supervises several field survey crews to locate property lines, gather data for topographic surveys and stake construction projects.

• Reviews, schedules, and assigns crews to survey projects; recommends methods and procedures to efficiently complete assigned projects.

• prepares time and cost estimates for requested survey work. 

• Reviews preliminary construction drawings to determine nature and extent of required survey work; participates in pre-construction, project scheduling, and other meetings concerning survey matters.

• Reviews, approves, or examines land surveying documents (maps, plats, reports, descriptions, etc.) under supervision of the Land Surveyor.

• Manages surveying staff including supervision, hiring, training and performance evaluations.

• Plans, coordinates, and schedules all office surveying activities.

• Sets and maintains standard practices for office surveying activities and quality control.

• Consults with public and private engineers, inspectors, and contractors relative to requested work and coordinates any necessary activities.

• Communicates with clients and the public and resolves issues that arise during field surveys.

• Performs map and document research for field and office survey projects.

• Interprets construction documents for construction surveys.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (General Educational Development [GED] Test or California Proficiency Certificate)

Experience: Eight (8) years of increasingly responsible sub-professional engineering/surveying work, including three (3) years at a level of a Survey Party Chief, Senior Engineering Technician, Senior Construction Inspector, or equivalent.

Acceptable Substitutions

Up to four (4) years (equivalent to 120 semester units or 180 quarter units) of undergraduate course work in college engineering, surveying, geography, and/or mathematics, or related fields, from an accredited college or university, may be substituted for subprofessional engineering/surveying experience on a year-for-year basis.

Certifications

Possession of a Land Surveyor-in-Training certificate and possession of a valid driver's license authorizing the operation of a motor vehicle in the State of California. - Land Surveyor's license is highly desirable.

Join San Bruno Community Services, Parks Department as a Lead Maintenance Worker! 

The Community Services Department is committed to providing quality programs, services, and spaces to benefit the health and well-being of the community. Within Community Services, the Parks Maintenance Division is responsible for the maintenance of all City’s outdoor recreation sites, including 20 parks covering 68 acres, 6 baseball fields, 128 acres of open space, all City owned facilities, over 7 miles of medians, and one dog park. 
 

Under the supervision of the Parks Field Supervisor, the Parks Lead Maintenance Worker performs a variety of skilled tasks and complex assignments in maintenance, repair, and construction work. The Lead Maintenance Worker is a working supervisor position. The position exercises direct supervision over crews engaged in service, maintenance, and repair. Work assignments may also involve considerable skill in various construction and mechanical crafts and the operation of heavy construction and maintenance equipment. 

CORE DUTIES

Examples of duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Assigns and reviews work of Maintenance Workers I/II and seasonal staff; trains, supervises, and reviews work of assigned staff; provides input into performance evaluations and performance issues.

• Inspects and repairs equipment at frequent intervals to ensure that all aspects of the systems are safe and functioning properly; maintains a variety of records relating to inspections, maintenance activity, materials supply, athletic field layouts and surfaces, base positioning and installation, and layouts of field markings.

• Determines and marks the locations of irrigation system wiring and water lines from the appropriate sources prior to excavation.

• Responds to complaints and resolves problems regarding functional areas such as tree conditions, ball field conditions irrigation system problems, park, building and ball field lighting, water leaks, parks facility issues.

• Ensures the proper maintenance of equipment and tools assigned to their area of responsibility by checking equipment and tools and maintaining maintenance records, and refers defects to supervisory staff.

• Safely operates vehicles/equipment of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling and unloading of various equipment, soil and sand, concrete, performance of tree work; and other job functions; operates pneumatic tools and power tools.

• Oversees and participates in construction and maintenance projects as part of a crew, including laying pipe, trenching and backfilling, determines safety and playability of sports fields and reports information to their supervisor, prunes trees and shrubs in conformance with established professional practices and safe working methods.

• Applies pesticides and utilizes best Integrated Pest Management practices for assigned areas of responsibility.

• Performs set up of traffic safety work zones utilizing traffic safety control devices as needed for work performed in areas such as medians, right-of ways, streets, and parks.

• Performs other duties as assigned. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education, experience, and training that would provide the best qualified candidates. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be a high school diploma or GED, and two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience performing field maintenance work similar to that of a Maintenance Worker II with the City of San Bruno. 

HIGHLY DESIRABLE

• Possession of a valid California Class B driver’s license. 

• Possession of a Qualified Pesticide Applicators Certificate. 

In addition, the ideal candidate possesses the following competencies:

The City of San Bruno Public Library is currently recruiting for a part-time, temporary Library Assistant—Homework Center Supervisor. Candidates must be able to commit from September 2025 to June 2026, for 17 hours per week and availability Monday 2-6PM, Tuesday 2-6PM, Wednesday 1-6PM and Thursday 2-6PM (with the exception of Library and San Bruno Park School District holidays). Although this is a ten-month position, the program is ongoing. Under the direction of the Library Services Manager, the Library Assistant—Homework Center Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of the Library's after-school Homework Center, including classroom management, homework help, supervising and training volunteers, collaborating with library staff, and maintaining
accurate records of homework center attendance. The incumbent will be responsible for
maintaining a welcoming place for students to do their homework effectively within the larger context of the library, and for planning STEAM weekly activities and training/supervising students in the use of the 3-D printer. The homework center is a free, drop-in, after-school program for children in kindergarten through eighth grade.
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

* This is a part-time/temporary/seasonal position with the City of San Bruno.  As such, employees agree to serve in an at-will capacity and understand that service with the City may be terminated at any time.  This position works a maximum of 17 hours per week and does not provide any benefits, except for paid sick leave. In accordance with the Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014, all temporary, part-time, and seasonal employees, who on or after July 1, 2015, work in California for 30 or more days within a year from the commencement of employment are entitled to paid sick leave for prescribed purposes.  Employees will accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked and are entitled to use accrued sick days beginning on the 90th day of employment.  Employees may use up to 40 hours (or 5 days) of accrued sick leave in each year of employment.

The City of Stockton seeks to fill an Information Technology Supervisor position with primary responsibilities around Enterprise Applications. This position will be primarily responsible for maintaining enterprise applications, GIS applications, data integrations, budgeting,  and managing assigned staff within the Information Technology Department.  This Information Technology Supervisor is accountable for the leadership, facilitation, analysis, and design tasks required to ensure that assigned information systems at the City are evolving to providing value to the departments in a secure and cost-efficient way.

The incumbent will be responsible for developing strong plans and roadmaps on how the application portfolio meets the business needs in an efficient, cost-effective, resource-balanced and secure way to gain executive support and buy-in. Furthermore, the incumbent will be accountable for executing the roadmap to ensure the application portfolio provides value, meets cyber security standards, and is vendor supported.

The incumbent must be proficient in creating the documentation of current and future state, roadmaps, and transition plans that support application initiatives. The right candidate will maintain the application inventory in collaboration with the business users and recommend appropriate actions to maximize the value to the organization. It will be essential to keep up with the technology industry and market trends to determine their potential impact on the application portfolio. Knowledge and experience in both on-premise and cloud technology are paramount.  A strong understanding of how to apply modern cyber security principles to secure on-prem and cloud applications and associated data assets are the foundation of every deployment.

The incumbent will work closely with other supervisors and leaders in the IT department to coordinate activities to ensure software applications, hardware, virtualization, cloud deployment, and cyber tool deployments are successful and execution follows established methodical processes.

Information Technology Supervisors work a City of Stockton 9/80 schedule: 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with alternating Fridays off. May be required to work additional hours and/or weekends to provide critical support to key initiatives.

Incumbents in this position are excluded from the Civil Service system and are in a "for-cause" employment status represented by the Mid-Management/Supervisory bargaining unit. Only those applicants who best fit the needs of the City will be referred to the hiring department.
