Join San Bruno Community Services, Parks Department as a Lead Maintenance Worker! 

The Community Services Department is committed to providing quality programs, services, and spaces to benefit the health and well-being of the community. Within Community Services, the Parks Maintenance Division is responsible for the maintenance of all City’s outdoor recreation sites, including 20 parks covering 68 acres, 6 baseball fields, 128 acres of open space, all City owned facilities, over 7 miles of medians, and one dog park. 
 

Under the supervision of the Parks Field Supervisor, the Parks Lead Maintenance Worker performs a variety of skilled tasks and complex assignments in maintenance, repair, and construction work. The Lead Maintenance Worker is a working supervisor position. The position exercises direct supervision over crews engaged in service, maintenance, and repair. Work assignments may also involve considerable skill in various construction and mechanical crafts and the operation of heavy construction and maintenance equipment. 

CORE DUTIES

Examples of duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Assigns and reviews work of Maintenance Workers I/II and seasonal staff; trains, supervises, and reviews work of assigned staff; provides input into performance evaluations and performance issues.

• Inspects and repairs equipment at frequent intervals to ensure that all aspects of the systems are safe and functioning properly; maintains a variety of records relating to inspections, maintenance activity, materials supply, athletic field layouts and surfaces, base positioning and installation, and layouts of field markings.

• Determines and marks the locations of irrigation system wiring and water lines from the appropriate sources prior to excavation.

• Responds to complaints and resolves problems regarding functional areas such as tree conditions, ball field conditions irrigation system problems, park, building and ball field lighting, water leaks, parks facility issues.

• Ensures the proper maintenance of equipment and tools assigned to their area of responsibility by checking equipment and tools and maintaining maintenance records, and refers defects to supervisory staff.

• Safely operates vehicles/equipment of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling and unloading of various equipment, soil and sand, concrete, performance of tree work; and other job functions; operates pneumatic tools and power tools.

• Oversees and participates in construction and maintenance projects as part of a crew, including laying pipe, trenching and backfilling, determines safety and playability of sports fields and reports information to their supervisor, prunes trees and shrubs in conformance with established professional practices and safe working methods.

• Applies pesticides and utilizes best Integrated Pest Management practices for assigned areas of responsibility.

• Performs set up of traffic safety work zones utilizing traffic safety control devices as needed for work performed in areas such as medians, right-of ways, streets, and parks.

• Performs other duties as assigned. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education, experience, and training that would provide the best qualified candidates. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be a high school diploma or GED, and two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience performing field maintenance work similar to that of a Maintenance Worker II with the City of San Bruno. 

HIGHLY DESIRABLE

• Possession of a valid California Class B driver’s license. 

• Possession of a Qualified Pesticide Applicators Certificate.

The Building Maintenance Division of the Maintenance Operations Department is seeking experienced Building Maintenance Workers to provide HVAC maintenance support for all public facilities, such as City Hall, Historic Buildings, Fire Stations, Police Department, Recreation facilities, and Rental Housing. Building Maintenance Workers (HVAC) design, fabricate, inspect, install, troubleshoot and evaluate problems with HVAC equipment.  They also repair heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and related apparatus. Additionally, they install, repair and/or replace controls for energy management system as well as perform preventive maintenance and sheet metal work, including design and fabrication.

The Building Maintenance Division of the Maintenance Operations Department is also seeking experienced Building Maintenance Workers to provide general maintenance support for all public facilities, such as City Hall, Historic Buildings, Fire Stations, Police Department, Recreation facilities, and Rental Housing. Maintenance tasks for the general assignment typically include painting, electrical repairs, wall repair, roof repair, carpentry/metal work, and floor repair.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The City of Gilroy is recruiting to fill the position of Senior Facilities Maintenance Specialist in the Administrative Services & Human Resources/Risk Management Department, Facilities Division.

In this exciting opportunity, the Senior Facilities Maintenance Specialist will work under direct supervision of the Facilities & Fleet Superintendent and will be responsible for maintaining and constructing all City buildings, structures, and park facilities. This role calls for a dynamic team player with outstanding communication and customer service skills, a positive attitude in the face of challenges, and a commitment to going the extra mile. It requires someone who can work independently, collaborate effectively as part of a team, and has experience supervising or coordinating work and overseeing the performance of others.

The Senior Facilities Maintenance Specialist is distinguished from the Facilities Maintenance Specialist in that the Senior Specialist is expected to perform the more challenging and complex tasks and is expected to perform certain administrative functions in support of the Facilities Division. This role offers a blend of strategic oversight and hands-on work. You'll have the opportunity to lead initiatives that impact the community directly, such as energy efficiency upgrades, safety improvements, and facility renovations. These tasks include a range of semi-skilled construction and repair work involving the use of basic tools and trade-related equipment. Duties may involve repairing electrical equipment and wiring systems; fixing windows, doors, cabinets, and other building components; maintaining interior and exterior furniture such as tables, chairs, benches, and bookcases; performing general plumbing repairs and installations; and carrying out basic concrete and masonry work. 

Additionally, you must be able to diagnose mechanical problems and methodically troubleshoot any issues occurring with building systems, machines, and equipment. This role also serves as a trainer and provides leadership to the team on specific tasks and projects.

The Department of Public Works is seeking to fill one (1) vacant Facility Repair Worker position within the Facilities Management Division. Under general supervision, this Facility Repair Worker will perform a wide variety of semi-skilled work in the repair of buildings and equipment at San José City Hall. 

Salary range for this classification is $77,355.20 - $94,036.80 annually. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience.  

This Facility Repair Worker position will be stationed at San José City Hall. City Hall is an 18-story high-rise structure which adds maintenance and operational challenges. In addition to the typical duties of a Facility Repair Worker, the successful candidate will maintain the potable/reclaimed water systems, learn how to maintain pressure variances in the systems, operate and maintain a large water feature/fountain on site, and work in high locations utilizing a scissor-lift and ReachMaster® 138 ft. boom lift. City Hall houses the upper management of most of the city departments, as well as the Mayor and City Council Offices. The ability to work in a politically sensitive environment is essential. 

Other duties of this position include, but are not limited to: 

• Proactive maintenance of roofs and roof water drainage systems; 

• Ability to install and modify office space cubicles, including ergonomic adjustments; 

• Skilled at painting techniques and proper cleanup for small and larger surfaces, including graffiti removal; 

• Perform drywall repair; 

• Experienced in maintaining and repairing various plumbing fixtures and resolving plumbing issues (clogs, drainage, flushometer repair, piping work, mixing valve repairs, sink and faucet repairs); 

• Monthly inspections of fire sprinkler systems and pumps; 

• Flooring repair, including carpet and tile work; 

• Familiarity with fire control panels; 

• Experience in motors, pumps, and other architectural water feature infrastructure; 

• Knowledge of fundamental provisions of various codes related to the maintenance and repair of facilities; 

• Knowledge and experience related to door and lock repair and replacement work, which include electronic access control door hardware and door operators;   

• Ability to draw sketches and plans for assigned projects, estimate the materials needed, and record keeping; 

• Maintain all work order details, status updates, labor applied, and contractor costs in City’s work order database.

Sufficient experience, training and/or education to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. The City of Dixon is looking to fill two full-time, regular positions for the position of Wastewater System Operator I/II in the Engineering Department and to establish an eligibility list for future vacancies. Family Camp at Yosemite is located in the Sierras, about 10 miles west of Yosemite National Park. Family Camp is a summer recreational facility run by the City of San Jose. This part time Maintenance Assistant opportunity is with the Destination, Events and Sports Unit (DES) in the Park Division of the Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services. 

NOTE: This position requires the part-time Maintenance Assistant to report onsite to the Family Camp Yosemite facility in Groveland, California. On-site living facilities are available during the peak season. May-October 1. A potential schedule for this position could work four days a week during peak season and the remainder of the hours during the off season. Schedule will be determined based on operational needs. This position will provide support to our facilities team and will work with other to seasonal employees during the summer season. Position Duties

The Maintenance Assistant classification is covered by the Pay Floor Rate and hourly pay range is $27.27 - $34.79 for part-time, unbenefited employees. The Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Services Department is currently seeking to fill a Part-Time Unbenefited Maintenance Assistant vacancy in the Parks division at Family Camp in Yosemite.

Maintenance Assistants perform a variety of entry level maintenance tasks, including but not limited to:

• Building, grounds, and park maintenance

• Knowledge of the use and care of common hand tools used in maintenance

• Knowledge of landscape maintenance, pest control application and irrigation systems

• Knowledge of and adherence to safe work practices and precautions

• Awareness of the importance of safety in the workplace including the willingness and skills to communicate risks and hazards

• Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations and make simple measurements

• Ability to perform manual labor

• Ability to lift heavy weights (up to 50 pounds, or heavier weight)

Employees in these positions may be required to work alternate shifts, including weekends, evenings, holidays, overtime, and on-call.
