Village Park Preschool Program

Village Park Preschool is a play-based preschool program offered by the City of Burlingame Parks and Recreation Department at Village Park. We offer 3 programs: Lil’ Sprouts (2 year olds), Cottage Kids (3 year olds), and Afternoon Owls (3 year olds).  The emphasis of the program is physical, social, and emotional growth in a child-centered environment. Activities are designed to foster a healthy child that develops an early love of learning. Village Park Preschool programs strive to create an environment inspiring each child’s individual creativity and self-expression. Children participate in arts/crafts, music, body movement, basic science, cognitive games, creative/dramatic play, cooking, circle and story time, fine and gross motor skill building, and phonics awareness.

Preschool Teacher

The City of Burlingame is looking for an energetic, caring, creative, and responsible Preschool Teacher. Under direction of a Recreation Supervisor, the Preschool Teacher plans, schedules, and organizes preschool classes for the City’s Village Park Preschool program, assures policies and procedures are maintained, and performs related work as required.

Essential Duties

• Plan, organize, and implement activities that support early childhood education and socialization
• Lead a variety of activities including, but not limited to, arts and crafts, organized games, story time, music/singing activities, science, cooking, early writing skills, and interactive circle time
• Ensure proper safety precautions are observed
• Maintain and care for supplies, equipment, and the facility
• Report any supply requests and facility maintenance needs
• Set up daily snack, change diapers and support toilet training
• Help with preparation of monthly newsletter
• Complete assigned paperwork, including timecards and incident and accident reports
• Communicate regularly with parents and staff to disseminate information and build positive relationships
• Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

• Knowledge of early childhood education principles, curriculum development, and best practices.
• Completion of 24 units of Early Childhood Education.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Previous experience in a preschool or childcare setting is preferred.

Class Times:

• Monday/Wednesday/Friday: 9am-11:30pm (2 year olds)
• Tuesday/Thursday: 9:00am-11:30am (2 year olds)
• Monday/Wednesday/Friday: 8:45am-12:15pm (3 year olds)
• Tuesday/Thursday: 8:45am-12:15pm (3 year olds)
• Tuesday/Thursday: 12:30pm-3:30pm (3 year olds)

Summer Camp (June 9-August 8)

• Monday- Friday: 9am-12pm (3-4 year olds)

• 8-20 Hours a week       
• Maximum of 960 hours per fiscal year  

Benefits: Healthy Workplaces/Healthy Families Act of 2014 Paid Sick Leave Benefit. This benefit accrues at the rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked to a maximum benefit of 24 hours per year. There is no cash value associated with the benefit. No other benefits are offered. This position is at will and is not part of the City's Civil Service System. There is no guarantee of hours and employment may end at any time. 

Salary: $25.48-$31.57 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.

Preschool Aide

The City of Burlingame is looking for a passionate, caring, and creative Preschool Aide. Under the direction of a Recreation Supervisor, the Preschool Aide supports the lead teacher in providing a nurturing and educational environment for young children. This includes helping with classroom activities, supervising children, and ensuring a safe and clean learning environment.

Applications are being accepted for the position of Community Resource Clerk (Recreation Leader III) with the City of South San Francisco. This is a non-benefited, part-time/hourly position.

THE POSITION 

The City of South San Francisco seeks customer service-oriented individuals to join the Community Resource Team at the new Library | Parks and Recreation Center. This position is shared between the Library Department and Parks and Recreation Department and works under the direction of the Community Resource Analyst. The Community Resource Clerk will typically be stationed at the lobby desks on the first and second floors of the new Library | Parks and Recreation Center at 901 Civic Campus Way in South San Francisco, however, may temporarily be assigned to other sites, or to represent the departments at special events. This position will provide a welcoming presence by greeting members of the public and responding to visitor inquiries to assist with wayfinding in the facility and sharing information about activities in the building as well as city and other local community resources.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal Community Resource Clerk possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills and will be comfortable working in a diverse community setting, providing customer service to community members of various ages, ethnicities, and abilities.  Candidates with bilingual skills are strongly encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate can work independently as well as with a team, and can make quick, quality, and educated decisions, taking a proactive approach to deal with customer service issues. Skill in using a personal computer and associated applications is required. The ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, is highly desirable. 
 

TYPICAL DUTIES:

• Assists in implementing the day-to-day operations at the Library | Parks and Recreation Center.
• Helps oversee use of the facility, ensuring appropriate security is maintained, policies and procedures are followed; appropriate equipment and materials are available, and building is operating efficiently.
• Registers participants in programs and assists patrons with Library or Parks and Recreation account inquiries.
• Performs typical service desk duties including but not limited to patron registration and account management, checking in/out materials, utilization of self-check equipment, assisting patrons with fines and fees, payments and placing reserves, and answering patron questions and requests.
• Maintain the posting of current promotional materials, such as flyers, brochures, guides, and other printed materials.
• Assists in coordinating the scheduling of classes, activities, meetings, events, and rentals in the facility.
• Assists patrons in using and locating library materials and equipment; explains library services, rules, and procedures.
• Works cooperatively with staff, parents, children, and other public and private sector employees and volunteers; coordinates with appropriate agencies to ensure that necessary services are provided to clients.
• Provides customer service in person, by telephone, and electronically.
• Performs general housekeeping duties related to the organization of materials and equipment in the common areas of the facility.
• Prepares for programs, including set up and take down; organization of required supplies.
• May be responsible for opening and/or closing the facility according to established procedures.
• Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:

Experience: Minimum of 18 years of age. One year of paid or unpaid work experience involving customer service.

Training:  Equivalent to graduation from high school.

Licenses/Certificates: All licenses and certificates must be maintained as a condition of employment.

•  Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a current First-Aid and CPR certificate within the first 12 months from date of hire.
