About the Position

Positions in this classification perform work in the organization and implementation of a wide variety of recreation activities. 

The work schedule will be Monday-Thursday 4:00pm-9:00pm but may vary based on the needs of the City.

The Program Coordinator classification is the top-level position in the Recreation Leader Series.  Advancement from Recreation Leader Level II to Program Coordinator requires 500 hours of work experience at Recreation Leader Level II, or equivalent experience.

May provide functional supervision to a Recreation Leader I or II as assigned.  Receives general supervision from a full-time Recreation Department staff member.

DEFINITION

Under general supervision, inspects a variety of construction projects to ensure conformance with contract plans, specifications, standards, laws, and regulations; performs work related to plan checking, issuing permits, providing construction recommendations, and other technical functions; and performs related work as assigned.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

EDUCATION AND TRAINING GUIDELINES

Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Technical training and/or a degree in building inspection technology, civil engineering, or a related field is desirable.

Experience: Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience as an inspector of construction for public works and engineering projects or a Building Inspector with a Municipal Building Department performing combination inspections.

Licenses: Must possess and maintain a valid Class C California Driver’s License issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles and a satisfactory driving record. Certifications such as Combination Inspector or related are preferred.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

San Mateo County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) is seeking an experienced and compassionate Supervising Mental Health Clinician to lead the Older Adult System of Integrated Services (OASIS) team. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of homebound older adults living with serious mental illness. 

 

As a Supervising Mental Health Clinician, you’ll oversee a dedicated, multidisciplinary team of clinicians, nurses, psychiatrists, peer specialists, interns and vocational rehabilitation trainees who deliver field-based, recovery-oriented care throughout San Mateo County. You’ll provide clinical supervision, guide daily operations, coordinate new referrals, and ensure timely documentation and service delivery. 

In this leadership role, you’ll balance program management with direct clinical work, maintaining a small caseload and supporting staff through complex client situations and field-based crises. You’ll also play a vital part in shaping the next generation of providers by orienting resident physicians and mentoring licensed and pre-licensed staff.

The Supervising Mental Health Clinician is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

Leadership, Supervision & Program Management

• Serve as Unit Supervisor, planning, assigning, training, and supervising interdisciplinary clinical staff, interns, and trainees.
• Complete annual evaluations and address personnel concerns.
• Plan, implement, and coordinate all unit activities and ensure program procedures comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Participate in administrative and leadership meetings to develop program plans and review operations.
• Maintain unit records, collect statistical data, and prepare annual program reports.
• Lead clinical meetings, coordinate complex case conferences, and ensure documentation is accurate and timely.
• Facilitate training programs for staff, resident psychiatrist, interns, and vocational rehabilitation trainees, including collaboration with the Human Services Agency on Vocational Rehabilitation Services (VRS) trainee hiring, training, and supervision.

• Collaborate with service providers supporting older adults connected with the Golden Gate Regional Center.

Program Operations

• Monitor and consult with contract providers to ensure compliance and resolve service issues.
• Provide both client-centered and program-centered consultation and community education to external agencies.
• Ensure coverage for Officer of the Day assignments.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification: Possession of a current California license in at least one of the following: Clinical Psychology, Clinical Social Worker or Marriage and Family Therapy.
 
Education and Experience:  Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is a Master's degree in a mental health specialty, such as social work, nursing, or clinical counseling and two years of professional post-graduate experience in a mental health setting.

• Performs cleanup of the plant, removing trash, washing down decks, and clearing leaves and branches from storm drains; cleans tools and makes sure equipment is in proper locations and power tools are in safe working condition;
• Changes oil and filters on various pumps and compressors in the plant; maintains safety inspections of fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, and ladders in the plant;
• Removes and replaces packing from various pumps in the plant; installs new rings of packing with new Lantern rings if damaged; applies grease to the new set of packing for proper lubrication; removes corrosion or debris from packing gland before reinstalling;
• Evaluates pump performance and flow rate to determine if pump has excessive buildup of rags that is affecting its performance and efficiency; shuts down pumps to remove rags from impeller and clears any obstructions;
• Replaces damaged parts/fittings on leaking chemical feed pumps; makes alterations to existing supply tubing or fittings, replacing clamps or O-rings, or removing debris caught in the check valves; inspects, tests, calibrates, adjusts, cleans, and paints equipment in the water pollution control plant; and
• Performs related duties as assigned.

JOB-RELATED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of: Principles, practices, and techniques of the installation, maintenance, and repair of water treatment plan systems; operation of various hand and power tools; proper procedures to safely perform maintenance on machinery and equipment in the plant; maintenance for MP2 program; recording and updating repair history on water pollution control plant equipment; how to create new work orders and close out completed work orders; forklift operations and scissor lift; replacing, repairing, and installing piping, fittings, and valves on water pollution control equipment; data entry of important, vital information regarding maintenance repairs; performance and evaluation on future preventative maintenance in the WPCP MP2 program; proper protective equipment.

Licenses: Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license, obtain and maintain a California Class B Driver’s License, and a satisfactory driving record. CWEA Certification as a Grade I Mechanical Technologist.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Respond to work at any hour of the day or night, within designated timeframe, as required during afterhours, weekend service, and/or emergency situations; carry communication equipment in order to respond after work hours. Vision, hearing, and physical ability adequate to obtain and maintain a California Class B Driver’s License; speak clearly and understandably. Under the direction of the Library Services Manager, the Library Assistant—Homework Center Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of the Library's after-school Homework Center, including classroom management, homework help, supervising and training volunteers, collaborating with library staff, and maintaining
accurate records of homework center attendance. The incumbent will be responsible for
maintaining a welcoming place for students to do their homework effectively within the larger context of the library, and for planning STEAM weekly activities and training/supervising students in the use of the 3-D printer. The homework center is a free, drop-in, after-school program for children in kindergarten through eighth grade.

* This is a part-time/temporary/seasonal position with the City of San Bruno.  As such, employees agree to serve in an at-will capacity and understand that service with the City may be terminated at any time.  This position works a maximum of 17 hours per week and does not provide any benefits, except for paid sick leave. In accordance with the Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014, all temporary, part-time, and seasonal employees, who on or after July 1, 2015, work in California for 30 or more days within a year from the commencement of employment are entitled to paid sick leave for prescribed purposes.  Employees will accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked and are entitled to use accrued sick days beginning on the 90th day of employment.  Employees may use up to 40 hours (or 5 days) of accrued sick leave in each year of employment.

Career Advance Interns work in one of many offices at the airport supported by an SFO Mentor who will guide and develop through daily tasks and larger-scale projects. Interns are also supported by the Talent Mobility Team and given an opportunity to attend tours, meet and greet with Airport leadership, and other workshops and events aimed at professional development.

1. Administrative Support– As an Administrative Support Intern, you will gain valuable experience providing a broad range of administrative and operational support across the department. This role offers hands-on exposure to office administration, customer service, event coordination, program support, and special projects in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The intern will contribute to daily operations such as front desk coverage, greeting and assisting visitors, responding to inquiries, scheduling, and document preparation, while also supporting workshops, trainings, outreach activities, and division-wide initiatives. 3. 4. Security Access Office (SAO) – As a Security Access Office Intern, you will support the team responsible for issuing ID badges, keys, and permits that are essential to maintaining the Airport’s secure operations. This role places a strong emphasis on customer service, as you will assist employees and stakeholders with access needs while also supporting document processing, audits, and data entry to ensure accurate records. The Security Access Office is a critical part of Airport operations, and this internship offers direct exposure to both service delivery and operational processes. 5. Landside Operations – Transit Programs – As a Transit Programs Intern, you will contribute to SFO’s Go>SFO Shuttle service and support major transit expansion projects that connect Airport employees and partners to the workplace. This role involves assisting with service planning, scheduling, marketing, ridership analysis, and supporting the rollout of electric bus infrastructure. You will also gain experience working on initiatives that enhance sustainable commuting options and improve access to the Airport community. This internship provides exposure to transportation planning, program coordination, and sustainable transit operations, preparing you for future careers in urban planning, transportation management, and mobility program development.
6. Environmental Operations & Sustainability – As an Environmental Operations & Sustainability Intern, you will support initiatives that advance SFO’s commitment to environmental leadership and our 2030 sustainability goals. This role includes assisting with programs that address water conservation, waste diversion, emissions reduction, and pollution prevention. You may participate in zero waste audits, contribute to staff trainings, and support environmental outreach efforts that engage the Airport community. This internship provides hands-on experience in sustainability program support, data analysis, and environmental education, preparing you for future careers in environmental management, sustainability planning, and green operations.

• Schedule: 24-32 hours per week, Monday-Friday between 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

The Department of Public Works of the County of San Mateo is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Assistant/Associate/Associate Civil Engineer. 
 
There is currently one vacancy in the Department of Public Works - Utilities and Watershed Protection Section. This recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies in Utilities and Watershed Protection Section.

Utilities and Watershed Protection
The Utilities and Watershed Protection Section oversees 30 Special Districts that include flood control, drainage, domestic water, sanitary sewer, and street lighting. The primary responsibilities of the position include the design and management of various capital improvement projects from the conceptual stage to construction close-out, supporting utility operations, monitoring of regulatory requirements, preparing reports and analysis, reviewing development plans, responding to public inquiries. Additional duties include assisting with the day-to-day operational tasks of administering these Districts.

Assistant Engineer is the entry or trainee level class of this series. Under immediate supervision employees perform first level professional civil engineering field and office work while acting in a trainee capacity in connection with the planning, design, construction and maintenance of a wide variety of civil engineering projects. This class is flexibly staffed with Associate Engineer and incumbents may advance to the higher level after gaining experience and demonstrating necessary proficiency.
 
Associate Engineer is the journey level job classification and is responsible for routine office or field projects. Employees are expected to be fully competent to independently perform a full range of duties requiring a high level of technical expertise, and some periodic supervisory responsibilities. Employees may also serve as a resident engineer on smaller, less complex construction projects.
 
Associate Civil Engineer is the registered journey level classification in the engineering series. At this level, a high degree of technical expertise and some periodic lead responsibilities are required. Under general supervision, incumbents may perform a variety of professional engineering tasks in such areas as planning, design, traffic engineering & operations and construction inspection of roads, park trails, bridges, drainage, sanitary sewer systems, water supply, and other public works projects. Associate Civil Engineers may provide lead direction to other staff in completing projects of greater difficulty and complexity. Incumbents will be required to perform field work in support of the planning, design, and/or construction inspection of public works projects.
 
NOTE: Assistant/Associate Civil Engineer differs from the Associate Engineer classification in that Associate Civil Engineers are registered as professional engineers in the State of California and may provide lead direction to other staff in completing projects of greater difficulty and complexity.

The salary range for Assistant Engineer is $100,318.40- $125,340.80 annually.
The salary range for Associate Engineer is $118,664.00- $148,324.80 annually.
The salary range for Associate Civil Engineer is $132,828.80- $166,025.60 annually.

The ideal candidate for this position will be:

• Technically knowledgeable and experienced in the principles and practices of civil engineering, public works design, construction, and/or maintenance. 
• An effective communicator, both orally and in writing; able to represent the County in meetings and presentations to various groups including property owners, community groups, regulatory and other governmental agencies, and the public.
• Customer-focused and interpersonally effective in dealing with staff, engineers, contractors, and the public, and in coordinating with law enforcement agencies, emergency responders, and other agencies when necessary.
• Able to provide information to the public and other governmental agencies, in person or over the telephone, regarding County procedures and regulations, facility locations, plan requirements, and property ownership, which may require the interpretation of policies and procedures.
• Able to perform development plan reviews and prepare plan review comments.
• Able to interpret and address current environmental regulations.
• Able to analyze and evaluate alternatives, make sound recommendations, and prepare concise and effective technical staff reports.
• Accountable and able to schedule and carry through with assignments with independence.
• Experienced with designing public works projects such as water treatment and distribution systems, and sanitary sewer systems.
• Experienced with computer aided drafting software such as AutoCAD/Civil3D or similar.
• For Assistant Engineer, possession of Engineer in Training Certificate is preferred.

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification: Candidates for Associate Civil Engineer must possess a valid Certificate of Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California at the time of hire. Some positions require possession of a class C California driver license or equivalent.
 
Education and Experience: 
 Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:
 

• Assistant Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering OR twenty-four semester units in civil engineering courses and three years of civil engineering experience in office, field or survey party work OR possession of an Engineer in Training Certificate. 
• Associate Engineer: Two years of professional civil engineering experience which has included field and office work in the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of a variety of civil engineering projects.
• Associate Civil Engineer: In addition to possession of a valid Certificate of Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California at the time of hire, two years of professional civil engineering experience which has included field and office work in the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of a variety of civil engineering projects.

Knowledge of: 

• Civil engineering practices and procedures including design and construction methods and techniques.

About The Department

The Department of Public Works plans, designs, constructs, operates and maintains facilities and equipment that are safe and accessible to the clients of County agencies, the general public, and County employees. The Position

Locksmiths work in the Facilities Maintenance and Operations Division of the Public Works Department and install, maintain, repair, and service all the locking devices in County Facilities/Buildings, San Mateo Medical Center, Maple Street Correctional Center, Hall of Justice, Maguire Correctional Facility, Youth Services Center, homeless shelters etc.

 

Duties of the Locksmith include but are not limited to: servicing, repairing, and maintaining locks, door closers, and related hardware; maintaining stock for replacement of lock units and parts; maintaining repair and maintenance records, key issues, and duplicate key schedules; picking jammed locks using special tools; devising and adjusting master key systems; and planning lock security systems for County facilities.

 

The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience as a locksmith in a commercial, governmental, or industrial setting, with preferred experience in jail locks and electronic lock systems. Familiarity with ADA compliance related to door operators and sliding door mechanics is also preferred. We are seeking individuals from the local Bay Area who have an interest in working for local government and bring relevant government experience to the role. 

 

IMPORTANT: Candidates will be required to complete an extensive security clearance package and undergo a thorough background check conducted by the County of San Mateo Sheriff's Office prior to hire. The selected candidate MUST BE cleared to work around detainees in a locked facility.
