MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Training:

• Equivalent to graduation from an accredited U.S. high school OR passing score on the General Education Development (GED) test; OR Possession of a two-year, four-year, or advanced degree from an accredited college or university.
• College coursework in police science, criminal justice, or a related field is desirable.

Experience:

• Completion of a P.O.S.T.-certified training academy.

Special Requirements:

• Must be 21 years of age as of the date of hire.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
• Must be of good moral character with no felony convictions.

Out-of-State Candidates:

• The California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) will conduct an evaluation of all out-of-state training.
• POST is the sole authority on applicable training and determines whether the candidate must attend an abbreviated academy or a regular police academy.
• If an academy is required, the candidate will be hired as a Police Officer Trainee. Upon completion of the academy, promotion will be made to Police Officer.

Part-time position: This position will be in the Grounds unit. Anticipated 3 days per week, up to 28 hours (may include weekend hours)

Summary:

Employees receive moderate supervision within a framework of standard policies and procedures and may be assigned to work in different areas throughout the District, including grounds, custodial and open space.

Must be available to work varied schedules, including weekends and holidays. Positions are part-time and schedules are made based on the needs of the assigned units of Grounds, Maintenance or Park Rangers.

• Support daily upkeep and cleanliness of parks, public areas, and facilities

• Use hand and power tools for light landscaping work including pruning, weeding, and planting
• Prepare open space, athletic fields or recreational spaces for public use
• Assist with basic irrigation and sprinkler maintenance

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years old

Education and Experience:

Graduation from high school or equivalent; maintenance/construction or landscape experience preferred.

Certificates and Licenses:

• Valid California Driver License with satisfactory driving record
• Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment functional capacity examination
• Department of Justice fingerprint clearance

Language Ability:
Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to park visitors and to other employees.

Math Ability:
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

• Salary range: $42.15 - $54.05 hourly (based on qualifications) with Excellent Benefits
  • 3% Cost of Living Adjustment increase on 6/29/26
• Regular full-time position
• 4/10 work schedule 

                           MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: 

Education/Training:

• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by college level course work in water science, chemistry, environmental science or a related field.

Experience:

• Four years of wastewater treatment plant operations experience including one year of administrative or lead supervisory responsibility.

License or Certificates:

• Possession of an appropriate, valid State of California Grade IV Wastewater Treatment Operator certificate, and the ability to obtain a Grade V Wastewater Treatment Operator certificate within one year of hire.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid CPR Certificate.
