THE POSITION

To perform a variety of highly responsible confidential clerical and administrative duties for the Human Resources Department.  The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current vacancy in the Human Resources Division of the Administrative Services Department, as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.

 

IDEAL CANDIDATE

This is a non-exempt, entry-level position in the Human Resources Department.  The Ideal Candidate will be a team player who can manage a high volume of work and changing priorities with frequent interruptions.  The Ideal Candidate must be able to multi-task, be flexible, provide a high level of customer service, be able to self-direct and have good time management skills to meet deadlines.  The Ideal Candidate must have strong general clerical skills, be computer savvy, able to maintain confidentiality, while also having the ability to think creatively to get the job done.   Prior experience working in a Human Resources department is preferred.  Ability to communicate in Spanish is highly desirable.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Process Personnel Action Forms, benefit changes and related payroll information. Assist as information support for employee benefit programs to include gathering data and reviewing benefit policy revisions to resolve eligibility, coverage and pay provisions. Maintain, update and process a wide variety of City and Department forms and reports. Order office supplies as needed. Codes departmental invoices. Researches and collects data from other agencies for salary and benefit comparisons. Responds to requests for information from other agencies, including salary surveys. Regular and consistent attendance.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS 

Assist in the preparation and implementation of personnel recruitment and examination material including job announcements, advertisements, skills tests, and other assessment instruments. Evaluate and make recommendations on improving office procedures. Promote and maintain safety in the workplace. Work cooperatively with others. Perform related duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: 

High School diploma or equivalent. 

Experience: 

Two (2) years of increasingly responsible clerical experience, preferably including one (1) year experience comparable to that of Administrative Clerk II with the City of Woodland.

THE POSITION

• Assist in the development and implementation of other risk management programs, such as occupational health and safety, and liability; serve as liaison on citywide Safety Committee, co-administering program with other departments and coordinating training; support Director, City Attorney and contract attorneys in litigation preparation.
• Provide assistance with employee relations issues; consult with managers and employees regarding the interpretation of personnel practices, policies, and procedures including related laws and regulations; provide information and assistance to departmental personnel regarding employee evaluations, disciplinary actions and other employee relations issues.
• Assist in employer-employee labor negotiations with various bargaining units; conduct a variety of surveys to gather and compile information for negotiation purposes; compile data and prepare various charts and graphs; work with finance to calculate negotiated costs.
• Assist in conducting intra/intradepartmental training programs and activities; coordinate implementation of training programs with department heads.
• Conduct research, analyze data, and prepare written and statistical reports and recommendations for a variety of human resource issues and topics; make oral presentations as required; update and revise written directives, rules, and regulations and various handbooks as appropriate.
• Conduct new employee orientation and exit interviews; ensure proper applicant notification.
• Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information within the area of assignment; resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner.
• Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of human resources administration.

Education/Training:

A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in human resources, public administration, business administration, or a related field. Professional Human Resources certification is desirable.

Experience:

Five years of increasingly responsible professional human resources administration experience. A Master’s Degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of required experience that provides a generalist background.

PUBLIC SAFETY RESERVE DISPATCHER, Part-Time

 

 Starting at $23.95 per hour

 

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

To operate a computer aided dispatch (CAD) and radio system, receiving calls and dispatching public safety equipment and personnel, and maintaining public safety records and reports.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Serves as a relief Public Safety Dispatcher. The Reserve Dispatcher performs the routine tasks and duties assigned to Public Safety Dispatchers working on-call and subject to various shifts and workday assignments including nights, weekends and holidays.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives immediate supervision from sworn or other supervisory personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Receive emergency and non-emergency telephone calls from the public and other jurisdictions.

·         Dispatch police personnel and equipment in response to such calls; transfer fire and medical                communications to appropriate agencies.

·         Relay emergency and non-emergency information to public safety personnel in the field.

·         Relay information to other agencies as required; search and relay warrant information.

·         Monitor multiple radio frequencies; maintain status of public works units, as necessary.

SALARY

$19.25 - $20.25 per hour (based on years of experience)

 

BENEFITS

All of these positions are temporary/part time. Temporary employees work no more than 130 hours per month AND 960 hours in a Fiscal Year.

The pay cycle is bi-weekly.  Except for worker's compensation coverage and sick leave accrual, no other benefits are provided. Employees must contribute 1.45% of salary to Medicare and 7.5% to a retirement plan in accordance with Federal Law.

SENIOR RECREATION LEADER

Part-time, non benefited Position

 

Summary Description

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor/coordinator, the Senior Recreation Leader is responsible for implementing programs at a given site, including administering program curriculum and supervising program staff.  This is an at-will, intermittent, part-time, hourly wage position without City-paid benefits.  Work a flexible work schedule, which may include evening, weekdays, weekends and holidays.

The City of Patterson is recruiting for a Firefighter Paramedic.  This safety position will respond to fire alarms, emergency medical calls, traffic accidents, rescue and other emergency calls to protect life and property.  This position will also participate in trainings, drills, study activities and in the maintenance of the department apparatus, equipment and facilities.  Under the supervision of the Fire Engineer or Fire Captain, performs advanced life support (ALS) care to patients of medical emergencies and other medical procedures. The City of Lincoln is hiring for the seasonal and part-time position of Assistant Pool Manager within the Recreation Department.  This position may require evening, weekend, or other shift work.  Under direction, this position will assist in the overall operations of a swimming pool facility, and its assigned temporary employees; to assist in the planning, organizing, coordination, development, implementation, promotion, and evaluation of aquatic activities and programs for all ages.

The Assistant Pool Manager is the working lead class responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the pool and aquatics program. This class is distinguished from the next higher classification of Pool Manager in that the latter has overall responsibility for the pool operations, programs, and staff.  The Assistant Pool Manager receives direction from the Pool Manager; exercises indirect supervision over temporary and seasonal aquatics personnel; and may exercise direct supervision in the Pool Manager’s absence.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Include but are not limited to the following:

• Assist in monitoring and supervision of the day-to-day operations of the aquatics program, which includes direction to lifeguards/instructors; enforce and explain pool regulations and policies; administer first aid and perform emergency rescues.
• Maintain proper health specifications, in restroom and locker areas and take all safety precautions.
• Manage the daily opening and closing of the facility.
• Assist in the oversight of proper sanitation and maintenance of pool water; ensure cleanliness of restrooms, dressing rooms, and public areas; report maintenance conditions affecting facility operation and security.
• Assist in the oversight of the safe and proper operations of assigned pool; ensure pool rules and safety guidelines are followed; maintain order with disruptive patrons and exercise crowd control where warranted; and, refer escalated issues to assigned supervisor or proper authorities.
• Exercise lead/indirect supervision over all assigned staff including temporary and seasonal staff, independent contract instructors, and volunteers. Exercise direct supervision in the Pool Manager’s absence.
• Participate in the recruitment and hiring of temporary, part-time, or seasonal aquatics staff as required.
• Promote and enforce water safety procedures; effect swimming rescues; render first aid and CPR as required; ensure the safety of pool users and enforce all user rules and policies of the department.
• Complete, review, and file accident and incident reports; assist with follow-up related to reports; purchase, check, and maintain first aid equipment; perform daily safety checks and inspections of the facility and all equipment.
• Assist with employee schedules; complete reports on chemical tests; assist with the training of lifeguards and other aquatics staff; verify and check aquatics staff timecards; submit timecards to Pool Manager for approval; coordinate and facilitate staff meetings; assist with special events.
• Work with maintenance staff to ensure that pool facility maintenance procedures are followed.
• Keep the pool, pool deck, and auxiliary buildings/areas clean and free of litter and debris.
• Act as the Pool Manager in her/his absence.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

 

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Position requires sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, grasping, and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. The position also requires both near and far vision when reading correspondence, statistical data and using a computer. The need to lift, drag and push files, paper and equipment weighing 25 pounds or more is also required. The incumbent may use cleaning chemicals, or pool chemicals, which may expose the employee to fumes, dust and air contaminants. Additionally, the incumbent in this outdoor position works in all weather conditions, including wet, hot and cold and is required to swim.

 

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILLS

THE POSITION
To perform a variety of tasks in the maintenance of City-owned buildings, equipment and facilities.

The purpose of this recruitment is to hire a Temporary / Part-Time position. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Maintain and repair City buildings, equipment and facilities by performing a variety of semiskilled carpentry, plumbing,  painting, heating/air conditioning, mechanical repair and electrical work as necessary. Inspect City buildings to locate conditions indicating the need for repairs and maintenance; assist in establishing and implementing preventative maintenance programs. Operate and maintain a variety of heavy tools and equipment, including small power and hand tools. Work cooperatively with others. Regular and consistent attendance.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
Remodel and repair a variety of building components such as counters, tables, desks, bookshelves, cabinets, partitions, walls, windows and doors; boilers, water pumps, exhaust fans, compressors, and other water and sewage system plumbing as required. Perform electrical work such as wiring and rewiring; replace switches, ballast and receptacles as required.
