The City Attorney's Office
The City Attorney’s Office provides legal advice to all City Departments, the City Council and all Boards and Commissions. In addition, the City Attorney’s Office provides risk management services through the Risk Management Division. 

The Position 
The Paralegal position is responsible for the preparation and management of complex legal documents and performs specialized legal administrative services at the direction of the professional staff in the City Attorney's office. The Paralegal works independently within prescribed guidelines and protocol to plan, organize, and complete assignments, which are reviewed upon completion. This is a full-time in-office position (8 am-5pm).

Equivalent to graduation from a four year college or university with major coursework in accounting, business administration, finance or a closely related field and six (6) years of professional experience in accounting or financial management, of which at least two (2) years included the supervision of professional level staff.  Related experience in a public agency and/or a masters degree in accounting or business administration is highly desirable.

Other requirements: Must possess a valid California driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record.

The City of Sebastopol is looking for a respectful, compassionate, empathetic Police Officer Trainee. The selected candidate must be currently enrolled or enrolled at a future date as a self-sponsored recruit in a certified Peace Officer Standards & Training Council (P.O.S.T.) Police Academy. The Police Officer Trainee is a non-sworn, training-level classification requiring no prior law enforcement experience. The incumbent performs a variety of entry-level police support duties in a learning capacity. The selected candidate will assist and observe Police Officers and civilian police personnel.

The successful candidate will attend the Police Academy to obtain a Basic P.O.S.T. Certificate of Completion, and perform related work which may require public contact but not the enforcement of laws. Police Officer Trainees attend a POST certified Police Academy, which follows a standardized curriculum in order to provide them with basic training in various aspects of policing, many of which are prescribed by law and/or statute.

The Police Academy training is designed to provide the candidate the necessary skillsets to prepare them for consideration for promotion to a probationary Police Officer position within the City and begin the Sebastopol Police Department’s Field Training Officer program. Attendance and successful completion of a Police Academy is a legal requirement to be hired as a Police Officer within the State of California and is a requirement for a City of Sebastopol Police Officer Trainee to be considered for promotion to probationary Police Officer with the City of Sebastopol.

The City of Patterson’s Finance Department is seeking to fill two (2) part-time Cashier positions and to establish an Eligibility List.  Under direct supervision, the Cashier receives, accounts for, and reconciles cash, checks, and electronic payments. This position is responsible for collecting and maintaining revenue and transaction records.  Incumbents receive, post, issue receipts, reconcile, and balance deposits daily.  Revenues collected include utility billing payments, various municipal services, and recreational program fees.  Must accurately collect,  account for, and safeguard all funds, including tallying and reconciling monies received at the end of each shift. Under general supervision, the Neighborhood Preservation Inspector ensures compliance with applicable sections of the State, Federal, and Municipal Codes, ordinances, and in relevant areas, such as property maintenance, abandoned vehicles, planning, zoning, signs, community nuisance, and related areas.  This is a classification in the Economic and Community Development Department.

CLASS CHARACTERISITICS:

The Neighborhood Preservation Inspector is the full journey-level classification.  This position requires experience in both Municipal and Zoning Codes and Regulations. Employees at this level are expected to work with property owners independently and to coordinate City resources to solve neighborhood issues.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (illustrative only):

• Work closely with homeowners and businesses to achieve compliance.
• Interpret ordinances, policies and procedures, and code enforcement concepts.
• Prepare reports and recommendations on code enforcement matters, and gain voluntary compliance.
• Coordinate actions with other departments or jurisdictions.
• Prepare reports, legal documents, and letters.
• Prepare case information and present evidence at appeal hearings and other legal proceedings.

The City of Patterson’s Public Works Department is seeking to fill several part-time Maintenance Worker positions and to establish an Eligibility List.  In this entry level class in the Public Works Maintenance Worker series, employees are trained and learn to become gradually more independent in, performing unskilled and semi-skilled manual labor in the repair, maintenance, construction, landscaping and cleanup of public works, parks and city facilities and services.  Duties include but are not limited to assist with digging out, breaking up and hauling away damaged sidewalks, gutters, curbs, and asphalt pavements; assist with painting street signs, crossings, crosswalks, curbs and centerlines; assist in repairing or installing landscape irrigation systems; learn to trim, prune, and remove landscaping and shrubbery; learn to operate a variety of trucks and equipment, including dump trucks, vactor trucks, rollers, front-end loaders, backhoe, tractors, air hammers, pavement breakers, lawn mowers, and other turf equipment; performs related duties as assigned.
