SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, performs a variety of custodial duties to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of assigned rooms, buildings, and related City facilities.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

1.       Sweep, scrub, wax floors; vacuum and clean rugs and carpets; clean restrooms; empty and clean waste receptacles.

2.       Wash and dust windows, walls, and blinds.

3.       Perform minor maintenance and repairs on equipment or buildings such as replacing light bulbs, fixing doors, or minor painting.

4.       Unlock and lock entrances to buildings; check buildings for security.

5.       Inspect buildings for safety, fire, and sanitary hazards.

6.       Operate a variety of electrical cleaning equipment; maintain and order custodial equipment and supplies.

7.       Perform various tasks in moving or rearranging furniture, desks and other equipment; set up room for meetings.

8.       Answer general questions from the public and City staff.

9.       May assist in training less experienced staff.

10.    Perform related duties as required.

Requirements:

1. Custodial work experience is desirable.

2. Education equivalent to the completion of the 12th grade.

3. Possession of a valid, California Driver License

4. Ability to work a flexible schedule that will require weekends.

The City of Lincoln is hiring up to 6 part-time Assistant Pool Managers within the Recreation Department.  This position may require you to work various days, weekends or evenings.

Seasonal employees are limited to working no more than 999 hours in a fiscal year.

Under direction, assists in the overall operations of a swimming pool facility, and its assigned temporary employees; assists in the planning, organizing, coordination, development, implementation, promotion, and evaluation of aquatic activities and programs for all ages.

The Assistant Pool Manager is the working lead class responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the pool and aquatics program. This class is distinguished from the next higher classification of Pool Manager in that the latter has overall responsibility for the pool operations, programs, and staff.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED

Receives direction from the Pool Manager. Exercises indirect supervision over temporary and seasonal aquatics personnel; may exercise direct supervision in the Pool Manager’s absence.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Include but are not limited to the following:

• Assist in monitoring and supervision of the day-to-day operations of the aquatics program, which includes direction to lifeguards/instructors; enforce and explain pool regulations and policies; administer first aid and perform emergency rescues.
• Maintain proper health specifications, in restroom and locker areas and take all safety precautions.
• Manage the daily opening and closing of the facility.
• Assist in the oversight of proper sanitation and maintenance of pool water; ensure cleanliness of restrooms, dressing rooms, and public areas; report maintenance conditions affecting facility operation and security.
• Assist in the oversight of the safe and proper operations of assigned pool; ensure pool rules and safety guidelines are followed; maintain order with disruptive patrons and exercise crowd control where warranted; and refer escalated issues to assigned supervisor or proper authorities.
• Exercise lead/indirect supervision over all assigned staff including temporary and seasonal staff, independent contract instructors, and volunteers. Exercise direct supervision in the Pool Manager’s absence.
• Participate in the recruitment and hiring of temporary, part-time, or seasonal aquatics staff as required.
• Promote and enforce water safety procedures; effect swimming rescues; render first aid and CPR as required; ensure the safety of pool users and enforce all user rules and policies of the department.
• Complete, review, and file accident and incident reports; assist with follow-up related to reports; purchase, check, and maintain first aid equipment; perform daily safety checks and inspections of the facility and all equipment.
• Assist with employee schedules; complete reports on chemical tests; assist with the training of lifeguards and other aquatics staff; verify and check aquatics staff timecards; submit timecards to Pool Manager for approval; coordinate and facilitate staff meetings; assist with special events.
• Work with maintenance staff to ensure that pool facility maintenance procedures are followed.
• Keep the pool, pool deck, and auxiliary buildings/areas clean and free of litter and debris.
• Act as the Pool Manager in her/his absence.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

 

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Position requires sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, grasping, and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. The position also requires both near and far vision when reading correspondence, statistical data and using a computer. The need to lift, drag and push files, paper and equipment weighing 25 pounds or more is also required. The incumbent may use cleaning chemicals, or pool chemicals, which may expose the employee to fumes, dust and air contaminants. Additionally, the incumbent in this outdoor position works in all weather conditions, including wet, hot and cold and is required to swim.

 

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILLS
The following are a representative sample of the KSA’s necessary to perform essential duties of the position.

Knowledge of: Modern principles and practices of aquatics programs; facilities, operations, and techniques used in aquatics programs; routine swimming pool maintenance, chlorinators, heaters, and other equipment used in a pool facility; current techniques in swim lesson instruction; basic pool chemistry, including chemicals used to disinfect water and maintain proper PH in a public pool; practices and principles of first aid and CPR lifesaving safety measures at a public pool; health and safety codes applicable to the operation of a public pool; principles and practices of customer service; modern office equipment, methods, and procedures; computer hardware and software; proper English, spelling, and grammar.

Ability to: Supervise and instruct individuals and groups in various aquatic and related recreational activities; plan and lead the work of volunteers, seasonal/part-time staff; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; interpret community demand for aquatic programs; successfully resolve a variety of customer service related matters; respond to emergency situations in a calm and effective manner; administer first aid and CPR; work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

San Juan Water District Seeks an Electrical Instrumentation Technician

The Electrical Instrumentation Technician is part of the Operations team, performing specialized and technical duties associated with the troubleshooting, maintenance, installation and repair of electrical gear, breakers, electronic equipment, and instrumentation controls associated with surface water treatment plant, pump stations, distributions system facilities, wholesale meters, and medium voltage solar site component. 

Duties Include: 

• Performing corrective and preventative maintenance on electrical switchgear, breakers, transformers, process control systems, flowmeters, transmitters, gauges and other instrumentation and control equipment.
• Performing skilled duties related to the troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, installation, and testing of instrumentation, Programmable Logic Controller’s (PLC’s), telemetry, electrical and electronic components and instruments used in treatment plants, distribution systems and solar fields. 
• Recognizing, identifying and correcting problems with control and instrumentation equipment.
• Planning, installing and maintaining sophisticated electrical, instrumentation, and control systems; developing and using diagnostic problem solving techniques.
• Inspecting, adjusting, installing, calibrating, and repairing electrical and electronic equipment such as Variable Frequency Drives (VFD’s), breakers, transformers, motors, transducers, motor control centers, switches, wiring, electronic circuits, meter transmitters, (Cl2) sensors, and related devices.
• Installing, maintaining, calibrating, and troubleshooting control systems and water quality instruments, analyzers and electrical systems as they relate to water treatment, distribution, and solar systems.
• Working collaboratively with engineering to maintain and modify drawings of District’s Electrical Systems, PLC’s and SCADA systems.
• Assisting in new project design, inspection, installation, and troubleshooting of electrical 
• Systems, including but not limited to, submittals, RFIs, change orders, site layout and planning of specific drawings.

To be considered, candidates should be knowledgeable of principles and practices of electrical theory and electrical circuits, practices and techniques used in the design, installation, testing, calibration, maintenance and repair of radio telemetry, cellular communication, 4160V solar field, electrical and electronic equipment, instrumentation and controls as they relate to water treatment and distribution systems. 

The qualifications include:

• Graduation from high school or equivalent with additional supplementary course work in electrical, electronics, instrumentation, control systems, or equivalent material pertaining to the field of electronics AND
• Three years of journey level experience in the design, construction, installation, modification, maintenance, and repair of electrical/electronic equipment, instrument systems, and control devices common to an industrial facility, water treatment plant, and distribution systems. 
• Possession of a valid California motor vehicle operator's class C license.

The salary range is $55.81 - $66.97, depending on qualifications. In addition, the District offers competitive benefits which include District contribution to CalPERS retirement, medical (100% of premium for most offered plans), dental and vision for employee and dependents; District paid life insurance; 12 paid days of sick leave; 12 paid holidays; and paid vacation depending on length of service. This position will perform professional and technical civil engineering work in the design, construction and maintenance of public works facilities. They possess a solid understanding of engineering mathematics, surveying, drafting, and construction methods, and can read and interpret plans, specifications, and technical documents. At the Assistant Engineer level, the Ideal Candidate is an experienced civil engineer who works independently and exercises sound engineering judgment and initiative. They can manage complex public works projects from design through construction, reviewing plans and specifications for accuracy and compliance, conducting field inspections, and preparing cost estimates, reports, and recommendations. This individual has experience with contract administration, capital improvement planning, and coordination across City departments, and may assist in supervising, training, and evaluating technical staff.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Assist in conducting preliminary studies of engineering projects and help prepare plans for public improvements such as streets, storm drains, sewers, water works, and other public projects. Supervise, coordinate and perform professional engineering work in the design and construction of, streets, sidewalks, water and sewage facilities, and drainage structures, and other public work. Review plans, maps, specifications, cost estimates, and other work for accuracy, presentation, and conformance with established engineering practices. Perform field inspections of public works construction projects, materials testing, survey work and calculations. Prepare preliminary drawings for public works projects, tabulate field data, design improvement plans, specifications, contracts, and other documents.  Make calculations in surveying and other construction work. Assist in preparation of long-range capital improvement programs and budgets. Prepare written staff reports for departmental use and/or presentation to the City Council and City Commissions. Respond to citizen complaints and questions. Assist with property development agreements Prepare plans and legal descriptions for right-of-way acquisition. QUALIFICATIONS

 

Junior Engineer

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

 

Education:
Equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in civil engineering.

 

Experience:
None required.

 

License or Certificate:

Possession of a valid California Driver’s License required upon hire.

 

Assistant Engineer

Education:
Equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil engineering.

 

Experience:
Two (2) years of increasingly responsible work experience in civil engineering or a closely related field.

 

License or Certificate:

Possession of a valid California driver’s license required upon hire.

Possession of a valid Engineering in Training (EIT) Certificate is desirable.

POSITION

To perform a variety of routine, non-hazardous and non-sworn law enforcement office and field work.  The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current vacancy in the Woodland Police Department, as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.

 

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The Ideal Candidate will have experience working in a law enforcement agency and/or have substantial professional experience with public interactions. Candidate will be a self-starter who can work with limited supervision.  The Ideal Candidate will work well as a member of a team, be well organized and have substantial report writing experience.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Investigate routine crimes and prepare appropriate reports.  Assist with abandoned vehicle abatement.  Assist in special traffic control.  Respond to non-criminal calls for service. Operate telephone and radio equipment.  Assist in crime scene identification activities.  Assist in collection, preservation and transportation of evidence.  Maintain accurate chain of custody records.  Inventory and release of evidence and property.  Prepare property for auction.  Purge of files.  Perform Parking Enforcement function.  Report damaged or inoperative traffic signals, signs and markings. Advise the general public on parking laws, regulations and ordinances. Receive complaints regarding parking citations.  Mark vehicles reported as abandoned and conduct follow-up, including towing and storing of vehicle.  Keep records and prepare reports.  Enforce non-moving vehicle code violations and city ordinances pertaining to vehicles.  Perform general clerical duties using typewriter and word processing. Receive calls and take messages. Prepare monthly statistical reports. Retrieve and input data into computer terminal. Prepare correspondence to victims of crime. Provide clerical assistance to detectives. Process reports assigned to detectives. Process court ordered registrants.  Collect pertinent data from police reports and input data into computer.  Make presentations in small and large group settings.  Assist in producing monthly, quarterly and yearly crime statistics reports.  Assist in analyzing statistical data to develop crime patterns. Publish understandable crime information for law enforcement staff.  Coordinate facility maintenance activities and repairs.  Develop and maintain facility tracking systems.  Issue required equipment to both sworn and non-sworn personnel.  Order new and replacement equipment as needed.  Regular and consistent attendance.

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Administer first aid in emergencies. Work off-duty hours as assigned. Assist in training of less experienced personnel.  Perform related duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  High School diploma or equivalent.  Additional college course work or vocational training is highly desirable.

 

Experience:  Two (2) years of general administrative office work experience or one year of administrative office work in a law enforcement agency. Prefer experience with substantial public interaction.

 

License or Certificate:  Required upon hire, possession of a valid California driver's license.

The City of Dixon is looking to fill two (2) vacancies for a Departmental Intern for the Engineering Department! This is a great opportunity for Civil Engineering students currently working towards an engineering career who would like to obtain paraprofessional experience at a Public Sector agency.
