Summary:
Under general supervision, performs a variety of custodial tasks and provides oversight of rental groups, in accordance with District policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist patrons and prospective participants on the phone and in-person
• Assist permit groups with set-up and breakdown of tables, chairs, and other equipment
• Promptly open and unlock facilities or close and secure facilities as scheduled
• Complete facility condition forms following permit group use and incident reports as needed
• Notify management concerning need for major repairs or additions
• Turn athletic field lights off and on for sports groups
• Sell and scan admission tickets special events and/or theater performances

DEFINITION

DESCRIPTION  

The City of Thousand Oaks Public Works Department currently has an opening for an Associate/Senior Engineer! We are seeking engineers with the competence and experience to execute design and construction projects with confidence and professionalism. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated skills in the areas of water and wastewater utilities, land development, roadway improvement, energy resilience, engineering design, and/or construction management across all civil engineering disciplines. 

 

PRIMIARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Associate Engineer:  

• Prepares and oversees the preparation of complex and technical engineering studies, plans, and reports   

• Assists the Division Manager and Team Leader/Senior Engineer in managing varying responsibilities including permitting, design and construction of water, wastewater, storm drain, pavement, energy resiliency and roadway improvements 

• Assists with the preparation of construction documents, drawings, estimates, and specifications    

• Coordinates and performs professional planning and engineering work including reviewing proposed land development plans 

• Participates in the review, development, and/or revision of the various elements of plans, ordinances, and other policies and procedures   

• Provide oversight of engineering consultants and/or co-workers

• Salary range $45.57 - $58.52 hourly with Excellent Benefits (see below)

                          MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education/Training:

• Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in engineering, architecture, or a related field.

Experience:

• Three years of increasingly responsible engineering experience

License or Certificate:

• Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver’s license.
• Possession of an Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate

                                  IDEAL CANDIDATE:

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:

• Proven experience performing professional and technical civil engineering tasks, including design, plan preparation, and construction oversight.

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise, assign, and review the work of engineering staff.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD and other engineering software for preparing detailed plans, specifications, and cost estimates.

• Familiarity with GIS tools and their application in infrastructure planning and analysis.

• Ability to exercise sound engineering judgment in accordance with current codes, laws, and best practices.

• Experience administering construction and professional services contracts, ensuring compliance and budget control.

• Excellent communication skills for interacting with the public, contractors, and internal departments.

• Knowledge of policies and procedures related to public works and infrastructure projects, with the ability to recommend improvements.

• Ability to conduct field inspections and resolve technical issues during project execution.

• Commitment to providing high-quality customer service and support to both internal and external stakeholders.

Health Insurance:

• Medical Premiums are covered at 100% for most plans, even family coverage.
• Coverage available as early as 1st of the month following start date.
• A variety of PPO and HMO plans are available through the CalPERS Health Program.
• The City contributes $158.00 per month and up to $2,269.44 per month in “Simiflex Dollars,” towards the cost of medical. 
• “Simiflex Dollars” can be used to offset the cost of medical, dental, and/or vision insurance, or other optional benefits. 

Paid Leave:

• Work/Life balance with 5.6 weeks of AL (Annual Leave) per year to start (AL combines vacation and sick time). 
• Accruals increase at 5 years and 10 years of service.
• Cash out option available after one year of service.
• 11 paid holidays per year and one floating holiday per year.

Prescription Drug Plan: 

• Major retail options and mail order program.

Paid Dental Insurance:

• HMO and PPO Plan available
• City contribution of up to $100 per month
• Dental insurance from Delta Dental costs the employee $0 to $31.10 per month for family coverage depending on the plan chosen.

Vision Insurance:

• City contribution of $19.80 per month
• Vision insurance from VSP costs the employee $2.66 per month for family coverage.

Flexible Spending Account (FSA): 

• An FSA account allows employees to set aside pre-tax dollars for out-of-pocket health and dependent care expenses.
• Eliminate paying federal or state taxes with an FSA account. 

Employee Assistance Program (EAP): 

• Confidential counseling and referral service to help employees and their household members resolve personal problems. 
• Up to 8 free consultations for employees and all members of their household.

Optional Insurance from AFLAC: 

• Available plans include accident, cancer, hospital and critical care.

Employee & Dependent Life Insurance Plans:

• $101,000 employee coverage provided at the City's expense.
• $5,000 dependent coverage provided at the City's expense.

Short-Term & Long-Term Disability Plans

• Provided at the City's expense

Tuition Reimbursement:
