Water Resources Operators perform duties in the operation, treatment, reclamation, and disposal of wastewater. Examples of duties include reading, recording, interpreting, and monitoring meters, gauges, and laboratory test results to assess system functions and processing requirements; extracting wastewater samples, performing laboratory tests, identifying the treatment adjustments, and operating direct and remote controls to implement treatment adjustments; recording shift operations information in logs and checklists; handling emergency and urgent situations; starting and stopping electric driven pumps and motors to control and adjust flow and treatment processes; and other duties as necessary as defined by appropriate licensure level.

As experience is gained and certifications are achieved, promotional opportunities to advance up to a Water Resources Operator - Grade III is possible without having to participate in additional recruitment and testing processes with the City.

SENIOR RECREATION LEADER

Part-time, non benefited Position

Summary Description

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor/coordinator, the Senior Recreation Leader is responsible for implementing programs at a given site, including administering program curriculum and supervising program staff.  This is an at-will, intermittent, part-time, hourly wage position without City-paid benefits.  Work a flexible work schedule, which may include evening, weekdays, weekends and holidays.

Representative Duties

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices:

• Implement all daily activities of a given program, including administration of program curriculum, leading program activities, monitoring and enforcing program rules and regulations, maintaining a safe environment and collecting any necessary paperwork.
• Instruct program participants in rules, model appropriate behavior, monitor strict adherence to program guidelines and enforce rules.
•      Exercise sound judgment in addressing behavior problems.
•      Responsible for appropriate use, maintenance and storage of all program supplies and equipment.
•      Establish and maintain a respectful and courteous working relationship with participants, volunteers, staff and those contacted in the course of work.

•      Perform other program-related duties as assigned.

The City of Sunnyvale is currently recruiting for a bilingual Senior Office Assistant in the Recreation Services Division of the Library and Recreation Services Department. This position is based at the Columbia Neighborhood Center; remote work is not available. As the main point of contact to the public, this position requires the ability to communicate fluently in Spanish and/or Mandarin to effectively serve the City’s diverse community. The bilingual Senior Office Assistant works closely with Recreation Services Division staff and other City departments. This position is eligible for Bilingual/Translator Pay in addition to regular compensation.

Preschool Teacher

The City of Burlingame is looking for an energetic, caring, creative, and responsible Preschool Teacher. Under direction of a Recreation Supervisor, the Preschool Teacher plans, schedules, and organizes preschool classes for the City’s Village Park Preschool program, assures policies and procedures are maintained, and performs related work as required.

Under general supervision, the Part-Time Office Assistant provides a variety of general clerical and administrative support services for the Recreation and Community Services Department. This is a part-time position and may include a flexible or reduced weekly schedule as determined by the department.

This position performs a range of office support duties such as preparing documents, maintaining records, assisting the public, and supporting departmental projects. The Office Assistant may also be assigned to take photographs at City special events as part of regular job duties. Work is generally guided by established procedures, with supervision available for non-routine tasks.

• Prepare a wide variety of documents, correspondence, reports, and forms using word processing and spreadsheet software.
• Review and proofread documents for accuracy, completeness, and proper formatting.
• Create basic graphics or presentation materials as needed.
• Enter, update, and retrieve information from computer systems; maintain files, records, and logs.
• Assist with processing forms such as purchase requests, timesheets, and other departmental paperwork.

About the Position

Positions in this classification perform work in the organization and implementation of a wide variety of recreation activities. 

The work schedule will be Monday-Thursday 4:00pm-9:00pm but may vary based on the needs of the City.

The Program Coordinator classification is the top-level position in the Recreation Leader Series.  Advancement from Recreation Leader Level II to Program Coordinator requires 500 hours of work experience at Recreation Leader Level II, or equivalent experience.

May provide functional supervision to a Recreation Leader I or II as assigned.  Receives general supervision from a full-time Recreation Department staff member.

Essential Duties

• Provide evening customer support, which includes front desk coverage at the Adult Community Center, processing registrations and payments, processing refunds and transfers, answering phone, contacting customers through emails and calls.

• Room set ups and break downs.

• Assist with program marketing including social media and flyers.
