DEFINITION

Under general supervision, provide recreational and educational instruction and activities, social development, guidance and care for preschool and elementary age children by leading and assisting in the selection and coordination of a variety of activities and curriculum at a childcare site.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Child Care Lead Teacher is the lead teacher in the classroom.  Child Care Lead Teachers may also be asked to temporarily oversee a school site when a Site Coordinator is offsite.  If a situation arises where a Site Supervisor is unavailable for an extended period of time a Child Care Lead Teacher with a Site Supervisor Permit will be asked to act as a temporary Site Supervisor.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

General supervision is provided by the Child Care Site Coordinator. Child Care Lead Teacher  supervises the classrooms to which they are assigned, including Child Care Aides, Associate Teachers, Teachers, and Full-time Teachers that are assigned to their programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

• Assist in the development of a diversified program of recreational games, sports, arts, crafts, and other activities for elementary school children.
• Assist in the development of a diversified preschool curriculum of music, science, math, dramatic play, social studies, literature, and recreational activities.
• Plan and lead a variety of activities appropriate to children of various age groups.
• Participate in and evaluate the effectiveness of activities and events.
• Instruct children in the safe and proper use of supplies and equipment. Instruct children in proper health and hygiene care.
• Assist in the selection and arrangement of field trips, special events and guest speakers.
• Assist with the preparation of site nutrition program.
• Assist with developing discipline techniques and maintaining acceptable classroom behavior from participants.
• Drive/Transport children using City of Pacifica City vans.
• Participate in cleaning and maintaining the facility and equipment.
• Inspect the site and equipment for potential safety hazards; take corrective action to prevent injuries.
• Assist in monitoring site supplies.
• Assist in recording numbers for attendance and nutrition reports. Perform related duties as assigned.
• Assist Site Supervisors with the evaluation process for Childcare Aides, Associate Teachers, Teachers, and Full-time Teachers (I/II) that are assigned to their programs.
• Attend and participate in required in-service training activities.
• Assist Site Coordinator in preparing yearly State of California Desired Results reports, including managing children’s portfolios, and monitoring student progress by using Desired Results Developmental Profile and designated online educational platforms.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

Experience:

The Opportunity

San Mateo County Sustainability Department is seeking a creative and highly analytical individual for the position of Administrative Services Manager I (ASM) to oversee the Department’s administrative functions. The ASM will provide fiscal, procurement and grants oversight; coordinate a variety of administrative support functions within the department; assist in the development, implementation and interpretation of administrative policies and procedures; and train and supervise assigned personnel.

This Administrative Services Manager I (ASM) is a hands-on, multi-faceted role that is broad in scope but extremely detailed and technical in nature. The ASM is a supervisory management position responsible for overseeing and coordinating all or most of the administrative support functions within the department including finance, budget, administration, personnel management, purchasing, contract administration, clerical support, management analysis, research, program evaluation and/or other related functions.

The ASM will also support the department in the development and overall management of a Grant Program for identification, pursuit, and implementation of federal, state, and philanthropic grants and funding focused on sustainability programs and projects. This includes developing and supporting systems to manage the entire grants lifecycle, managing and/or guiding analyst and program level staff in identifying opportunities, developing concept papers and proposals, submitting grant applications, project implementation, and grant closeout. The ASM will receive direction from the Executive Leadership team and exercise direct and indirect leadership over professional, technical and/or clerical team members.

The ideal candidate for this position will have or be:

• Knowledge of public financial administration, budgeting, and project accounting. Able to manage the entire budget cycle from planning and developing to monitoring, analyzing, reporting, and forecasting.
• Knowledge of and experience with the County's budget, accounting, auditing, and financial reporting.
• Knowledge of relevant climate mitigation, energy efficiency, climate resilience, stormwater management, waste reduction and management programs and initiatives.
• Possession of great leadership skills and can mentor, inspire, and motivate staff.

Formed in 2014, the Sustainability Department strives to improve the sustainability of the County’s operations and the greater community through work that is designed to bring solutions today while solving for tomorrow. Examples Of Duties

Training and Experience:

A typical way to qualify is at least three years of progressively responsible experience performing a broad range of administrative duties in a large and complex public-sector organization.

Event Services Representatives assist in monitoring and providing customer/client support for special events. Event Services Representatives maybe required to provide technical assistance and set up of equipment on day of event, assist in resolving customer issues and complaints, and respond to emergency situations during events. The on-site Event Services Representative coordinates with event staff such as ushers, ticket takers, security, crowd control, outside contractors, and performs facility safety checks which may include enforcing Safety and Fire Marshall Regulations.  

Due to the nature of the job responsibilities, Event Services Representatives must be able to:  

• Work extended/irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed. 

• Stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is the full supervisory-level classification in the Police Records series. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• May testify in court regarding police records, processes, and/or authenticity of records, as required.

Physical Demands

• Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
• Work is primarily sedentary with intermittent standing/walking; requires finger dexterity for keyboarding and operating office equipment; occasional bending/stooping/reaching; occasional lifting/carrying of files and records generally up to approximately 20 pounds.

DEFINITION: Under general supervision from Preschool Instructor(s) and the Recreation Supervisor, the preschool aide assists in planning, organizing, and implementing preschool programming for children ages 2-5 years old in a range of classes from introductory drop-off preschool classes to Kindergarten preparedness preschool classes. Program hours are M-F PM 8:30am – 1:00pm. Approximately 20– 23 hours a week. Preschool aides must be willing and able to both take direction from the Preschool Instructor and work independently when fulfilling tasks. Substitute and on-call positions also available.

Under the direct supervision of a Recreation Coordinator, the Recreation Leader implements and facilitates well-rounded programs in youth after-school programs, pre-school programs, day camps, sports leagues, and special events at designated recreation facilities. • Initiates and leads defined youth recreation and sports programs.
• Maintains discipline and observes the overall well-being of the participants and the program.
• Plans various youth recreational and educational programs appropriate for the age and skill level of the participants.

• Observes required safety precautions.
• Maintains attendance and activity records.
• Maintains open lines of communication with participants and/or their parents.
• Makes recommendations regarding youth recreation programs.

Happy Hollow Park & Zoo (HHPZ) is a 16-acre amusement park and an Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA) accredited zoo located in San José, California with the mission of connecting people to nature through play. HHPZ is open to the public year-round.

Position Duties

The Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services Department is currently seeking to fill one (1) full-time Parks, Recreation Facilities Supervisor vacancy in the Parks Division at Happy Hollow Park & Zoo.

The total salary range for the Parks, Recreation, and Facilities Supervisor classification is $112,563.36 - $137,220.72 annually.

This amount includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable pay. The actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience. 

The Parks, Recreation and Facilities Supervisor at  HHPZ plans, directs, coordinates, and supervises park operations (Parking, Admission, Membership, Guest Services, Food & Beverage, Entertainment, Celebrations, Admin services, Rides, Facility Maintenance, Park Maintenance), programs, budgeting, hiring, and contract management. 

The Parks, Recreation and Facilities Supervisor plays a critical role in developing the future strategic plan which includes managing facility improvement projects that support the mission of HHPZ. The Parks Facility Supervisor also supervises, trains, and evaluates park staff, including the Food & Beverage Supervisor and Amusement Park Supervisor and collaborates closely with the Zoo Manager and the Public Information Representative, under the guidance of the HHPZ Parks Manager. 

The desired candidate is a proven leader in recreation and amusement park management and will be a key champion for the goals and objective of the park, cultivating and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders, agencies and partner organizations. We are seeking someone with a strong comprehensive safety background, who can create and promote a work environment and culture that reflects Happy Hollow’s values and continually reviews and reinforces the mission and vision of Happy Hollow. The ideal candidate will accomplish this by mentoring, managing and providing inspired, forward-thinking leadership to park staff. 

The Parks, Recreation, and Facilities Supervisor must have the ability to constantly adjust to changing conditions and deal with a wide variety of customers, agencies, departments, classifications and personalities.  This position requires a person who is technically knowledgeable in a variety of subject areas.
