Essential Duties

• Develop and distribute marketing materials and update the monthly newsletter to showcase Adult Community Center programs.
• Support kitchen preparation and coordinate meal deliveries for the Curbside Lunch Program.
• Process registrations.
• Recruit and coordinate volunteers.
• Caring Cupboard weekly grocery program.
• Assist in planning and organizing special events, classes, and workshops.
• Rentals for City-owned facilities.

DEFINITION: Under general supervision of the Youth and Teens Supervisor, the Preschool Instructor plans, organizes, and implements preschool programming for children ages 3-5 years old in the Kinder Cubs Preschool Program, our preparatory class for Transitional Kindergarten (TK.) Program hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:30am – 1:00pm.  Approximately 20-23 hours per week including curriculum preparation time. Substitute and floating positions in other youth programs also available daily from 8:30am - 5:30pm. 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Knowledge and understanding of the appropriate curriculum to prepare preschoolers for Transitional Kindergarten (TK.)

• Ability to develop, coordinate, plan, implement and supervise the day-to-day activities, themes, and special events for an ongoing preschool classroom.

PART TIME RECREATION SPECIALIST I/II

This position will primarily be assigned to front desk reception and facility assistance for the Recreation Center.

Applicants must be able to work up to 20 hours a week including evenings and weekends.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING GUIDELINES

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities. A typical way would be:

Education: Equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s degree in recreation, gerontology, therapeutics, or a related field.   

Experience: Two (2) years of full-time equivalent experience in the recreation, transportation, education, or a related field. 

Licenses: Must possess and maintain a valid Class “C” California Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.  Possession of and ability to maintain a valid first aid certificate. Possession of and ability to maintain a valid CPR certificate. 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Vision adequate to read and supervise program participants; ability to bend, stoop, or crouch, and have enough physical stamina to lift and carry up to 30 pounds; mobility to move tables and chairs for room setup and to assist in the mobility of a variety of clients. Speak clearly and understandably.

The Recreation Leader II (Summer Camps Senior Leader) position is responsible for providing high-level programs and services through the Parks and Recreation Department, which provide concrete, positive experiences for youth and promote qualities essential to raising successful young people. Recreation Leaders (II) are responsible for creating and implementing the curriculum for the Moraga Day Camp program, which offers youth daily activities, including arts and crafts, games, songs, field trips, and special events. This position is responsible for supervision of part-time staff and day camp participants. This position may also work additional seasonal events for the Parks and Recreation Department throughout the year.

The Position

The Community Services Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of direct coordination and supervision of one or more significant program areas within one of the Community Services Division’s major program Sections, and for assisting the Community Services Section Manager with the overall direction and supervision of the Section. The Music Instructor is responsible for providing quality music instruction to participants of varying skill levels in a positive and engaging environment. This position requires strong knowledge of music techniques and the ability to plan and deliver lessons that meet individual participants’ needs. The instructor will plan, prepare, and implement music lessons tailored to each participant’s abilities and goals, teaching music theory, aural skills, and practical techniques to individuals and groups. They will also prepare participants for performances or showcases as part of the program, select and acquire appropriate teaching materials and resources, and motivate participants to achieve continuous progress. In addition, the Music Instructor will communicate effectively with recreation staff and parents/caregivers regarding schedules, progress, and participant needs, assess participants’ abilities, provide constructive feedback, and maintain progress records.
