The Placer County Community Development Resource Agency is seeking applications to fill one (1) full-time Long-Range Senior Planner vacancy on the Long-Range Planning team. This position performs a variety of complex, long-range planning functions, including supporting development of the General Plan update and Housing Element implementation and will support a Principal Planner and the Planning Director in fulfilling the role. This position can be based out of either the Auburn or Tahoe City office.

Key duties include:

• Assist in updating the County’s General Plan, including drafting and developing policy and code, permitting policies and/or development standards, and implementation strategies, as well as performing legislation review and education.
• Support work efforts centered around housing, including zoning code updates, policy development, permitting policies and/or development standards, legislation review and education, and implementation strategies.
• Collaborate on fees, incentives, and streamlining packages for housing and infill development, and coordinate with developers and landowners. Coordinate with current planning team.
• Perform research, data collection, and analysis.
•  Conduct public outreach and education for a variety of programs or projects, including presenting to stakeholders, advisory bodies, the Planning Commission, and the Board of Supervisors. Collaborate with regional partners and stakeholders.
• Utilize technology, such as GIS and mapping software, website management systems, and other tools to advance policy and program implementations.

Planning Services currently offers a hybrid remote work environment and alternative work schedules. This position requires occasional work outside of normal working hours, such as evenings and weekends, to attend and participate in community and/or staff decision-maker meetings and also requires travel to various countywide locations, including both the Auburn and Tahoe City offices, for a variety of meetings and hearings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EXPERIENCE
Three (3) years of increasingly responsible planning experience performing duties similar to those of an Associate Planner.

TRAINING
Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in urban, regional, or environmental planning, or a related field.

The ideal candidate is passionate about long-range planning, creative and innovative with policy development, flexible, and able to succeed in a fast-paced environment working both independently and with a team. They are familiar with state planning laws and requirements and can develop a comprehensive understanding of the laws and local implementing ordinances to ensure compliance. The candidate demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communications skills and negotiates effectively with development, community, and governmental interests to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.

Additionally, the ideal candidate will have experience working in local government and/or in a long-range planning field and implementing the California Environmental Quality Act. The candidate should demonstrate experience working on a range of long-range planning documents including, but not limited to, General Plans, Specific Plans, and zoning text amendments, and will possess knowledge of a range of planning topics, including land use, community design, housing, sustainability and adaptation, mobility planning, habitat conservation, and natural resource programs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The Reserve Firefighter will respond to and participate in fire suppression, hazardous materials, rescue and medical operations requiring full unassisted ambulatory activity including bending, stooping, lifting up to 100 pounds, walking on uneven surfaces, squatting, climbing, lying prone, and running. Work is performed indoors and outdoors, and exposure to water, heat, fire, smoke and other hazardous substances. Reserve Firefighters will wear self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), protective clothing and boots, operate heavy rescue equipment and administer medical treatment to ill and injured persons.

Please Note:  Reserve Firefighters will be required to work a minimum of two (2) shifts or 48 hours.

This position performs a variety of work in the monitoring of county, state and federal detainees and maintains the security and safety of inmates and staff.

DEFINITION

The City of Live Oak Internship Program is designed to attract, develop and mentor innovative individuals interested in pursuing a career in the public sector. The program seeks dedicated students who, through their academic achievement and/or employment history, have demonstrated high potential for a career in local government. Interns are encouraged to apply for full-time positions with the City after their internship is completed.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

Interns generally work under close supervision and perform simple or routine tasks while learning to perform the more difficult and responsible ones. Interns are hired as limited term employees and employment service is dependent on the length of the project or the particular City service needs.

Intern positions are by their nature temporary employment and Interns are not eligible for City benefit programs unless specifically approved in writing by the City Manager.

The work schedule is typically part-time 15-20 hours per week with flexibility to work 30 to 40 hours per week depending on the needs of the Intern and the City program assigned. Interns with significant experience in their assigned area may be eligible to move along the assigned Salary Band with the specific approval of the City Manager.

Intern positions are not permanently funded and may be terminated at any time.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

• May review and route routine planning documents, petitions, permits, packets and records; analyze environmental checklists and environmental information forms and make specific recommendations following department procedures;

Are you a team player looking for a career serving your community in the growing field of drinking water distribution? If you are hardworking, accountable, and enjoy working with a great team, Citrus Heights Water District invites applications for the position of Water Distribution Operator I/II.

The position will be filled at either the Water Distribution Operator I or Water Distribution Operator II classification, dependent upon candidate qualifications. The salary ranges for each classification are as follows:

• Water Distribution Operator I: $35.87 – $48.43 hourly
• Water Distribution Operator II: $39.45 – $53.27 hourly

WORK SCHEDULE AND BENEFITS:

The District observes a 4/10 work schedule, Monday-Thursday, 10-hour days. The regular work schedule for the Water Distribution Operator I/II position is 6:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Water Distribution Operators also perform Standby Duty on a rotating basis. Standby Duty begins at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday and shall end at 5:00 p.m. on the following Tuesday. Per CHWD policy, employees assigned to Standby Duty must reside within fifteen (15) miles of the District headquarters while performing Standby Duty.

Water Distribution Operators are directly involved in the installation, maintenance, and repair of valves, mains, services, and related potable water distribution system facilities and equipment. Performs related work as required.

Water Distribution Operator I - This is the entry-level class in the Water Distribution Operator series. Positions in this class typically have little or no directly related work experience and work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks. The Water Distribution Operator I class is distinguished from the II level by the performance of less than the full range of duties assigned to the II level. Incumbents work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks, progressing to general supervision as procedures and processes of the assigned area of responsibility are learned.

• Experience:
  • One year of responsible experience similar to a Water Distribution Worker with the District
• License and Certificate:
  • California Class C Driver’s License
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Grade D1 Water Distribution Operator certificate from the State of California Water Resources Control Board within one year of hire.

Water Distribution Operator II - This is the journey-level class in the Water Distribution Operator series and is distinguished from the I level by the assignment of the full range of duties. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new, unusual, or unique situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the work unit. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the I level once the incumbent meets the qualification standards of the II level, demonstrates an ability to perform the full scope of the work, and meets performance standards.

  • One year of responsible experience similar to a Water Distribution Operator I with the District
• License and Certificate:
  • California Class C Driver’s License
