The Position:

Silicon Valley Power (SVP), the City of Santa Clara’s Electric Utility, is seeking two (2) skilled and customer-focused Information Technology Systems Specialists to support the utility’s end-user computing environment.

This position is part of SVP’s Systems Support Group (SSG) — the technology backbone of the utility — which provides reliable, high-quality technical support and systems management for SVP’s staff and operations. As a growing division, SSG supports a broad range of technology projects and modernization initiatives, including those driven by the unprecedented growth in the utility’s service area.

The Information Technology Systems Specialist plays a key role in help desk and deskside support operations, providing timely and effective technical assistance to end users. Core responsibilities include diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issues; performing system deployments, imaging, and upgrades; managing user accounts and access; and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation. Additional duties include helpdesk management, application packaging, patch management, group policy administration, software installation and licensing, VOIP and telephony support, VPN/RDP connectivity, and ensuring the overall reliability and security of end-user devices and systems.

The ideal candidates will demonstrate strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service. This position also participates in an on-call and after-hours support rotation, providing critical technical support and ensuring the availability of key systems during emergencies or planned maintenance activities.

The annual salary range for this position is $122,040.48 - $155,706.48.  This position may be filled at or near the minimum of the salary range. 

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• A Bachelor's Degree from a college or university with major work in computer science, software engineering, technology hardware, or a related field; and
• One (1) year of programming experience in one or more high level structured program languages, networking, and/or operating systems management.

ACCEPTABLE SUBSTITUTION
Additional qualifying experience may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education, up to a maximum of four (4) years.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
None.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience working with municipal utilities or in a telecommunications environment;
• Possession of advanced computing, computer technician, and/or cybersecurity certificates, such as A+, Security +, etc.);
• Experience with Operating Systems (such as Windows, Apple OSX, and iOS, Linux, etc.) and Microsoft 365 or other cloud-based platform; and
• Experience with virtualization software (such as VMWare and Hyper-V).

When assigned to the Electric Utility Operations Division, in addition to the above:
• Experience with Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), microprocessor-based relays, and the Distributed Network Protocol (DNP); and
• Experience using Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• May be required to work unusual hours and weekends in the performance of their duties and be available on an "on call" basis.

The City of Saratoga has an open recruitment for a full-time Park Maintenance Lead Worker in the Public Works Department. The incumbent will report to the Park Maintenance Division Manager. The Lead Worker performs all duties consistent with the Maintenance Worker I/II/III classifications and is distinguished by the level of difficulty of the work performed. The Department

The Parks and Recreation Department is the third largest department in the City and is organized by program area, with each program administered by a supervisor, coordinator, or specialist. The department is comprised of the Recreation, Community Services, Parks, Facilities and Common Greens divisions.

The Parks Division is in charge of planning and maintaining the City’s parks, playgrounds, sports fields, and other landscaping and performs a wide range of tasks in order to care for City parks and open spaces. Staff work throughout the year to refresh the appearance of parks repairing or replacing items as needed to keep public spaces clean and safe. There are approximately 25 parks and play lots, including Sign Hill Park, which has 60 acres of open space, and Centennial Way Linear Park, a 3-mile pedestrian and bicycle trail. Join San Bruno Community Services, Parks Department as a Lead Maintenance Worker! 

The Community Services Department is committed to providing quality programs, services, and spaces to benefit the health and well-being of the community. Within Community Services, the Parks Maintenance Division is responsible for the maintenance of all City’s outdoor recreation sites, including 20 parks covering 68 acres, 6 baseball fields, 128 acres of open space, all City owned facilities, over 7 miles of medians, and one dog park. 
 

Under the supervision of the Parks Field Supervisor, the Parks Lead Maintenance Worker performs a variety of skilled tasks and complex assignments in maintenance, repair, and construction work. The Lead Maintenance Worker is a working supervisor position. The position exercises direct supervision over crews engaged in service, maintenance, and repair. Work assignments may also involve considerable skill in various construction and mechanical crafts and the operation of heavy construction and maintenance equipment. 

CORE DUTIES

Examples of duties may include, but are not limited to:

• Assigns and reviews work of Maintenance Workers I/II and seasonal staff; trains, supervises, and reviews work of assigned staff; provides input into performance evaluations and performance issues.

• Inspects and repairs equipment at frequent intervals to ensure that all aspects of the systems are safe and functioning properly; maintains a variety of records relating to inspections, maintenance activity, materials supply, athletic field layouts and surfaces, base positioning and installation, and layouts of field markings.

• Determines and marks the locations of irrigation system wiring and water lines from the appropriate sources prior to excavation.

• Responds to complaints and resolves problems regarding functional areas such as tree conditions, ball field conditions irrigation system problems, park, building and ball field lighting, water leaks, parks facility issues.

• Ensures the proper maintenance of equipment and tools assigned to their area of responsibility by checking equipment and tools and maintaining maintenance records, and refers defects to supervisory staff.

• Safely operates vehicles/equipment of various sizes and weights in the loading, hauling and unloading of various equipment, soil and sand, concrete, performance of tree work; and other job functions; operates pneumatic tools and power tools.

• Oversees and participates in construction and maintenance projects as part of a crew, including laying pipe, trenching and backfilling, determines safety and playability of sports fields and reports information to their supervisor, prunes trees and shrubs in conformance with established professional practices and safe working methods.

• Applies pesticides and utilizes best Integrated Pest Management practices for assigned areas of responsibility.

• Performs set up of traffic safety work zones utilizing traffic safety control devices as needed for work performed in areas such as medians, right-of ways, streets, and parks.

• Performs other duties as assigned. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education, experience, and training that would provide the best qualified candidates. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be a high school diploma or GED, and two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience performing field maintenance work similar to that of a Maintenance Worker II with the City of San Bruno. 

HIGHLY DESIRABLE

• Possession of a valid California Class B driver’s license. 

• Possession of a Qualified Pesticide Applicators Certificate.

THE POSITION: 

The Executive Administrative Assistant reports directly to the City Manager and/or their designee. This position performs a variety of administrative tasks in support of the Office of the City Manager, as well as the City Council.

Ideal candidates will have increasingly responsible clerical and public contact experience, effective customer service skills, communication skills, and knowledge of working with confidential information.

DEFINITION
Under general supervision, perform a wide variety of confidential clerical and administrative assignments for the City Manager, Staff, and/or the City Council; to take and transcribe shorthand dictation, to do general typing and filing, and perform a variety of responsible clerical, stenographic, and administrative assignments, and to perform related work as required.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

The City of Saratoga is looking for an accounting professional ready for the next step in their career to join our Administrative Services Department team as a full-time Accounting Technician. The Technician, under general supervision, performs journey-level technical and administrative accounting duties related to the preparation, maintenance, and processing of accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions for the City. Responsibilities include reconciling accounts and ledgers, preparing financial reports, executing batch runs and wire transfers, and maintaining both manual and computerized financial records. The role also involves establishing and updating vendor accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations, and assisting with financial reporting activities. The incumbent will be assigned to the Accounts Payable and Program Procurement Support areas and will report to the Finance Manager.

The Technician will have knowledge of and proficiency in: Terminology and practices of financial and account document processing and record-keeping, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, utility billing, and business licensing; Methods and techniques or preparing and maintaining records of financial transactions; Methods and techniques of researching and resolving accounting transactional discrepancies; Business arithmetic and basic accounting and financial management knowledge; Record-keeping principles and procedures; Applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, and ordinances relevant to the area(s) of responsibility; and related areas necessary to perform the essential functions of the position

SUMMARY:  Under close supervision, performs a variety of entry-level administrative tasks and special projects; assists in the coordination of administrative activities and analysis of department systems and procedures; and performs related work, as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training and Experience Guidelines: 

Proof of enrollment in a college or university OR recent graduates with paid or volunteer work experience, which demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties of the position.  Major course of study may be in one of the following areas: Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, Architecture, Computer Science, Engineering, Urban Planning, Human Resources, Communications, Recreation Administration, OR a related field of study. Education and experience will be evaluated based on the actual position.

Knowledge of: 

• Principles and practices of public administration and organization applicable to a local agency.
• Administrative techniques; statistical practices and methods of graphic presentation.
• Modern office methods, practices, procedures, and equipment, including personal computers and modern software and spreadsheet programs.
• Elements of business writing and proper use of English, vocabulary, spelling, punctuation, and grammar.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Possession of a valid Class "C" California driver's license. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed in an office environment in close proximity to other workers.  Incumbent shall be exposed to those conditions normally encountered in a business office environment.  Physical demands require frequent standing, reaching, leaning, twisting, grasping, lifting and sitting for prolonged periods of time.  Must carry moderately heavy boxes up to 50 pounds and/or utilize a dolly.  Incumbent must be able to drive safely to various City sites.  Incumbent must be able to see and hear in the normal range, with or without correction.  Incumbent must have the stamina to work long hours and overtime, if assigned, and be willing to work an irregular schedule, which might include evenings, weekends, holidays, and varying hours.
