The Traffic Signal Technician performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks involving maintenance, repair, modification, inspection, and testing of traffic signals, controllers, and street lighting systems.

Examples of duties include:

• Electrical maintenance and repairs on traffic signal, street lighting, and battery back-up systems and equipment
• Troubleshoots, repairs, and installs traffic signal network communication devices, video detection systems, and closed circuit television cameras
• Performs electrical system wiring and installations
• Services generating units, switches, circuit breakers and other electrical fixtures
• Modifies detector loops and changes and repairs traffic signal heads
• Locates underground utilities
• Responds to emergencies or reported malfunctions
• Consults with factory representatives and traffic engineering staff to identify and resolve technical problems

This is a seasonal, part-time position for the Parks & Grounds division.

Under the general supervision of a Public Works Streets Supervisor or Parks & Grounds Supervisor, and direction of a Maintenance II lead, incumbents in this classification assist with the cleanup and maintenance of City parks, streets, and satellite facilities including buildings, equipment, bus stops, parking lots, trails, flora and landscapes; and perform related work as required.

• Emptying garbage cans.
• Picking up litter and other illegal dumping.

THE POSITION

The City of San Mateo is seeking a Per Diem Human Resources Technician providing a wide variety of technical human resource work in a variety of program areas including benefit administration; recruitment and selection; compensation; human resources information systems database analysis and report writing, and to do related work as required. This position receives general supervision from the HR Director or Senior HR Analysts.

EXAMPLE DUTIES

• Prepare and maintain personnel records.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City invites you to apply for the full-time (38 hours per week) position of Senior Library Assistant.  The Senior Library Assistant performs a wide array of high-level library work and customer service. This position provides support, mentoring, education, skill-building, advocacy, and youth-guided programming to persons receiving services at the Community Drop-In Youth TAY Center located in the Behavioral Health Division at the Glenn County Health and Human Services Agency. The incumbent will work as part of Behavioral Health with the Transition Age Youth Team delivering outreach/engagement and supportive service to youth and families on school campuses, in the community, and/or at the TAY Center. Individuals between the ages of sixteen and twenty-four (16-24) years of age are encouraged to apply. WHAT YOU’LL DO

The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Advanced Practice Provider in the Health, Housing & Community Services Department! In this role, you will make assessments, provide treatment based on a patient's physical and psychosocial condition, provide patient counseling and guidance in the maintenance of health and the prevention of illness; and perform other related work as required.

In the Public Health Division, the Advanced Practice Provider provides health care at the Berkeley High School Health Center (BHSHC) and the City of Berkeley's Public Health Clinic. This position has overall responsibility for the delivery of clinical care and supports other clinical staff.

This is an hourly, part-time position working up to 19 hours per week. It is not a benefited position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is:

• Equivalent to graduation from a Physician Assistant program from an accredited institution approved by the Physician Assistant Board of California (PAB) and one year of clinical experience in a health-related occupation; OR
• Equivalent to completion of a graduate-level Nurse Practitioner program from an accredited institution approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN). Completion of an approved preceptorship and appropriate academic training in an area of specialization covering extended roles in traditional nursing and must meet all other requirements as an advanced practice registered nurse as specified in standards by the California Board of Registered Nursing.

Education and training in specialty area appropriate to the clinical assignment are desirable.

Performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the construction, maintenance, and repair of streets, sidewalks, traffic control, curbs, gutters, signs and markings.  The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a vacancy in the Street Maintenance Division of the Public Works Department, as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.  Initial position/assignment and salary of the selected candidate will be based on previous work experience and valid licenses/certificates. 

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The Ideal Candidate for this position will have prior experience in road maintenance, including work on sidewalks, driveways, roads, curbs, and gutters. While this experience is preferred, it is not required. The candidate must be able to follow directions accurately and demonstrate strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing. They should be punctual, maintain good attendance, and have a positive attitude. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision is essential, along with a willingness to learn new skills and take on additional responsibilities as needed. This position requires flexibility, including availability for overtime, weekend shifts, and holiday work when necessary. While a Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is preferred, it is not mandatory at the time of hire.

Maintenance Worker I:

This is the entry level class in the Maintenance Worker series. The Maintenance Worker I may often perform many of the duties required of Maintenance Worker II but is not expected to have the depth of experience, skill level and certifications of the Maintenance Worker II. As a result, the Maintenance Worker I will have fewer opportunities to exercise independent discretion and judgment on matters related to work procedures and methods. This position is required to work any shift, weekends and holidays as needed.

Maintenance Worker II:

This is the journey level in the Maintenance Worker series. This class differs from Maintenance Worker I in that incumbents perform more complex maintenance duties including working independently, exercising judgment, and operating the full range of tools and mechanical equipment related to a specific assignment. The Maintenance Worker II may also be expected to assist in the oversight and training of less experienced personnel. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the Maintenance Worker I level, or by candidates with prior work experience elsewhere. This position is required to meet all Standby Program requirements, take standby duty, and to work any shift, weekends and holidays as needed.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The following are typical illustrations of duties encompassed by the job class; this is not an all-inclusive or limiting list: 

• Assist other departments in addressing Right of Way (ROW) issues within the city, this may include homeless camps, illegal dumping and blight related issues
• Ensure that safe traffic control measures are deployed, and that proper safety precautions and safe work methods are followed
• Design, fabricate, and install traffic signs and markings, set up barricades, direct traffic, and remove traffic control devices as needed
• Assist the Signs and Markings Group with the installation of signs and road markings
• Operate a variety of light and moderately heavy construction and maintenance equipment including such pieces as a loader, dump truck, water truck, steel rollers, zipper, mastic machine, crack seal machine and rubber-tired tractor with all attachments to perform a variety of routine construction and maintenance operations. Operate forklift as assigned and trained.
• Ability to set, form, pour, and finish concrete is required to repair curbs, gutters, driveways, and sidewalks
• Keep and record accurate and up to date records on all assignments using city maintenance management software
• Promote and maintain safe working conditions and correct unsafe working conditions
• Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade a wide variety of streets and sidewalk equipment
• Prepare plans and specifications for the procurement of parts and supplies on assigned projects
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Regular, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

The Burlingame Public Library is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Special Collections Intern to assist with the assessment, development, and strategic planning of the Library’s Special Collections. This internship provides hands-on experience in archival evaluation, policy development, and collection management—ideal for graduate students pursuing careers in Library Science, Archival Studies, or Museum Studies.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct an inventory and condition assessment of selected Special Collections materials
• Evaluate holdings by topic/theme, physical condition, and space constraints
• Contribute to the creation of a Special Collections component for the Collection Development Policy
• Assist in defining the scope and purpose of the Special Collections

About the Position
