The City of Dixon is recruiting to fill a full-time position of a Maintenance Worker I/II in the Public Works Streets Division and to establish an Eligibility List for future use. 

Essential Job Functions When Assigned to Streets: Performs semi-skilled and skilled repair and maintenance tasks involving traffic painting, traffic sign installation and maintenance and the installation of reflectors; performs minor street asphalting, patching and sealing; performs cement work on sidewalks, curbs and gutters; performs weed spraying, tree and bush trimming; performs graffiti removal. Positions operate backhoe for preparing grades and trenching and operate other equipment including, but not limited to, paint sprayer and striper, tractor, scraper, rototiller, chain saw, weed eater, mower, air compressor, paving machine, sand blaster, and emulsion sprayer.

Maintenance Worker I: This is the entry level class in the Maintenance Worker series and positions in this class typically have little or no directly related work experience.

Maintenance Worker II: This is the journey level class in the Maintenance Worker series and is distinguished from the I level by the assignment of the full range of duties.

POSITION

To attend a Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T), a certified basic academy. ABOUT THE POLICE DEPARTMENT

ABOUT THE CITY

Woodland is a city of approximately 60,000 residents. Incorporated in 1871, Woodland is conveniently located on I-5 just 12 miles northwest of Sacramento and 9 miles north of U.C. Davis. Woodland’s primary business is agriculture and light industrial, including distribution centers for Target, True Value, and Walgreens. Woodland has a community college, 2 senior high schools, 2 junior high schools, and 12 elementary schools in the public school district, supplemented by five private schools, grades K through 12. The area offers various recreation possibilities: water skiing and boating on the Sacramento River, Lake Berryessa, and Lake Folsom; skiing in the Sierras, hunting and fishing; five golf courses; and many other youth and adult oriented recreations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

As a Police Officer Recruit, the Recruit will attend a Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T), a certified basic academy during regular academy hours, and any other scheduled departmental and academy exercise activities.  Successful completion of the academy is required to continue employment and be promoted to Police Officer.  General Supervision will be provided by supervisory Police Department personnel, both sworn and civilian, and P.O.S.T. Academy staff.  No direct supervision of staff is exercised. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  Equivalent to graduation from an accredited U.S. high school; passing score on the General Education Development (GED) test; or possession of a two-year, four-year, or advanced degree from an accredited college or university.

License or Certificate:  Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Environment:  The candidate will train in a high-stress police-training academy; indoor classrooms and outdoor physical agility course; exposed to noise, smoke, and inclement

Physical:  Physical health, strength, stature, and agility to meet the physical demands of police work as determined by an agility test and a pre-employment physical exam.

Vision:  See in the normal visual range with or without correction.

Age:  Must be 21 years of age upon completion of the academy.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Applicants for the Police Officer Recruit position must pass the POST Entry-Level Law Enforcement Test Battery (PELLETB) with a minimum T-Score of 45 and must pass all components of the Physical Agility Test-Work Sample Test Battery (WSTB) with a minimum score of 320.

• If taken within the past 12 months, applicants may submit evidence of a P.O.S.T. Certified PELLETB test score with a score equal to or greater than a T-45 with the application to be considered for this recruitment.
• Woodland Police Department will accept previously received Physical Agility Test-Work Sample Test Battery (WSTB) scores if it is in an official format and less than 6 months old. 

Test Details:

1) Written Test - POST Entry-Level Law Enforcement Test Battery (PELLETB) - This test must be completed in less than 2.5 hours, and it must be passed with a minimum T-Score of 45.  The areas covered by the test include:

• Spelling - Select the correct spelling of a word from a list of options
• Vocabulary - Select the correct meaning of a word from a list of options
• Clarity - Select the sentence that is most clearly written from a pair of options
• Reading - Read a passage and answer questions about the passage's content
• CLOZE - Use contextual clues to complete a passage that contains missing words

2) Physical Agility Test - Work Sample Test Battery (WSTB) - This test consists of five individually timed and weighted events, and the minimum passing score is 320 (Important – POST Academies may require a higher standard). The events include:

• 99-yard obstacle course with sharp turns and up to 34-inch high obstacles
• 165-pound body drag for 32 feet
• 6-foot chain link fence climb
• 6-foot solid wall climb
• 500-yard run

Test Date:

Woodland Police Department will offer the WSTB tests on an ongoing basis. Candidates will be notified of test dates and times once they have applied.

Eligible List Placement: 

Applicants for this position must take and pass the Physical Agility - Work Sample Test Battery (pass/fail), and the POST Entry-level Law Enforcement Test Battery (PELLETB) with a minimum T-score of 45 (weight: 100%).  Those applicants who pass both the PELLETB and Physical Agility test (WSTB) will be invited to participate in a panel interview.  Applicants who successfully pass the panel interview will be placed on an eligibility list and may be selected to participate in a final interview with the Chief of Police.

Chowchilla is an 11-square mile rural city of between 19,000 and 20,000 residents. Located in California’s San Joaquin Valley, Chowchilla is home to some of the state’s most productive agricultural areas. Many of California’s iconic travel destinations such as the Yosemite, Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks, the San Francisco Bay Area and the Pacific Coast are within an easy two-hour drive.

POSITION

The Public Works Director is appointed by and works under the direction of the City Administrator and serves as a member of the City’s executive team. The Public Works Director supervises 20+ employees and directs the operations and activities of the City’s Public Works Department including streets and sidewalks, water drainage, parks, facilities, water and sewer utilities, storm drainage, manages all municipal construction, and prepares and administers departmental budget.

The ideal candidate will be a proven leader with the ability to direct and manage office and field staff.  The Public Works Director is a highly visible position with frequent public interaction. This position will have oversight over Planning and Engineering; general background of these two fields is preferred.

The Public Works Director will be familiar with the dynamics of rural communities and be able to ensure ongoing city services within the constraints of limited budgets. POSITION

A primary function of this position is janitorial services. Will include set up and cleanup of special events. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Six (6) months of work experience in carpentry, electrical and maintenance work is desirable.

WORK HOURS
Position works approximately 16-20 hours per week in the afternoons and evenings, and will require some weekend hours.

Respond to routine permitting inquiries and provide customer service to the public at the permit counter, and/or via telephone, email, or fax.  Research and communicate the status of permits for applicants. Work with Building Inspectors and/or Code Compliance Officers to schedule inspections and pull related permits.  Process various transactions involving business registrations, cashiering and permitting.  Assist customers over the counter with respect to new business registrations and renewals, general building permit issues, and over the counter plan submittals.  Generate reports as needed utilizing the computerized program related to permitting and/or licensing.  Provide information and direction to the public related to community development, planning, building, engineering, code enforcement and permit processes via phone, e-mail and counter work.  Respond to citizen complaints and/or inquiries, referring more complex issues to higher level of authority as appropriate.  Review and check records, forms, and other documents for accuracy, completeness and conformance to rules and regulations.  Update forms and informational materials as needed.  Maintain files, both paper and computerized.  Regular, predictable, consistent and timely attendance is an essential function of the position.  Other duties as assigned.

TOWN MANAGER - TOWN OF LOOMIS

The Town Council of the Town of Loomis, California (population 6,800) is seeking an energetic and engaging individual with a commitment to public service to become its new Town Manager. The Town Manager directs, coordinates, and manages the overall administrative   activities and operations of the Town and advises and assists the Town Council while exercising significant independent judgment and initiative. In this smaller-sized entity, the Town Manager will need to be comfortable with a hands-on and collaborative approach to day-to-day  management. This will include providing strong leadership and frequent interaction with the small team (Finance, Community Development, Engineering and Public Works), fostering a    collaborative, open dialogue, and teamwork. The City of Patterson is looking for a highly qualified Accounting Manager for the Finance Department. Under minimal direction of the Finance Director, the Accounting Manager plans, manages, and coordinates the activities of complex accounting functions.  Oversees the work of supervisory and professional level staff and performs the more complex accounting duties, in the areas of general accounting, accounts payable, budget, debt, fixes assets, grants, payroll, treasury, and Financial information systems.
