Community Program & Technology Specialists (CPS & CTS) work in a variety of settings, both inside and outside of our libraries, to make a difference in our community by building strong community connections—partnering with local organizations, reaching underserved populations, and designing programs that reflect the diverse voices and needs of our neighborhoods. The Community Technology Specialist position is distinguished from the Community Program Specialist position by focusing their work on hands-on, maker-centered programming—bringing STEM to life through workshops, maker technology, and creative DIY experiences that empower learners of all ages and address the digital divide.

The ideal CPS candidate will have the ability to:

• Provide excellent customer service to a diverse community of all ages in a busy public library.
• Design, adapt, and deliver innovative services that benefit the needs of the community.
• Identify and implement research-based methods, practices, techniques, and pedagogy that help learners succeed.
• Maintain and develop inclusive programs that support learners, including but not limited to English as a Second Language (ESL) learners.
• Plan, schedule, coordinate, and carry out programming, workshops, and classes.
• Coordinate and participate in outreach activities to community groups and agencies, ranging from tabling to public speaking.
• Collect and maintain program records and statistics and create reports, as needed.
• Assist in the recruitment, training, and management of volunteers.

Work frequent evenings and weekends.

In addition to the above, the ideal CTS candidate will have the ability to:

• Guide patrons in learning by doing, teach groups and individuals with a wide variety of tech experience and learning styles.
• Plan, schedule, coordinate, and carry out technology, maker, and STEM-related workshops and events to patrons of all age groups in the library and at school visits, fairs, and other outreach activities to community groups and agencies.
• Train coworkers in new technologies and support peers as an IT mentor and guide.
• Support the successful deployment of new technologies to the public and recommend and provide feedback on the implementation of new technologies.
• Have familiarity with makerspaces and makerspace technology including: 3-D printers, laser printers, vinyl cutters, and design software.
• Assist in the creation of technical documentation and procedures as needed.
• Have experience working with Windows and Mac OS, and mobile devices.

Position Summary

Under the general direction of the District Engineer, plans, organizes and directs activities of the Engineering Contracts Section of the Engineering Department. Manages the centralization of engineering contract development activities.  Manages implementation of contract administration procedures.  Manages coordination between project managers and District attorneys, insurance advisor, capital and grants staff, Small Business Enterprise staff, state and federal funding oversight agencies, and consultants/contractors.  Manages the preparation and processing of requests for proposals for professional services and invitations for construction bids for District facilities capital improvement projects.   Administers professional services agreements and construction contracts, including verification of consultants and contractors' compliance with certified payroll submissions, prevailing wage requirements and other contract labor rules.  Supervises contract administration staff.  Provides assistance to District Engineer regarding engineering contract matters, budget analysis and cash flow reports, including acting as liaison between District Engineer and District Officers, Heads of District Divisions and the Board of Directors. Facilitates the work of the District Engineer by using discretion, prudence, initiative, and independent judgment. Performs other related duties and special projects as required.

Essential Responsibilities

• Organizes, plans, writes, directs, coordinates reviews and prepares final versions of requests for proposals, formal bids, professional service agreements, purchase agreements, construction contracts, amendments and change orders in adherence to federal, state, local laws and regulations and District procurement policies and guidelines. 
• Reviews contract documents for accuracy, content, timeliness, reasonableness, funding, performance periods, deliverables, and other terms and conditions.
• Provides procurement and contract administration guidance to engineering staff to ensure contract uniformity, and consistency.

• Manages and supervises processing of contract invoices for payments, including checking for accuracy and compliance with contract payment provisions.
• Prepares monthly reports for tracking contract expenditures.  
• Reviews contract budgets and assures that expenditures do not exceed authorized limits.
• Manages and supervises contract compliance activities to ensure that all engineering contracts are in adherence to federal, state, local laws and regulations and District procurement policies and guidelines.
• Manages auditable contract invoice and payment records. 
• Manages processing of change order and amendment requests and assures compliance with District policies, FHWA and FTA guidelines, applicable laws and regulations.
• In coordination with project managers, negotiates and maintains reimbursement rate agreements and any adjustments with consultants.
• Makes recommendation regarding resolution of procurement/contract issues.
• Consults with District attorneys on contract legal issues.
• Attends pre-proposal and pre-bid conferences as needed and explains the District’s contract award procedures and guidelines.
• Organizes proposal evaluation committees, coordinates appropriate committee meetings and reviews, and assists in preparing Board reports.
• Attends District Committee and Board meetings as required.
• Prepares in-house memoranda and written correspondence to consultants and contractors, e.g., notices to proceed, notifications, sole source justification.
• Administers the contracts throughout their duration including the close out process.
• Reviews cost/price analysis as needed.
• Provides supervision and guidance to subordinate staff.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with District employees, customers, vendors and all others contacted during the course of work using principles of excellent customer service.
• Follows established safe work practices and obey all safety rules.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Regular and reliable attendance and performance is required.

The San Mateo County Attorney's Office is seeking candidates for the 2026 Michael P. Murphy Public Law Fellowship.

In 2014, the County of San Mateo established a Fellowship position in honor of former San Mateo County Counsel Michael P. Murphy. Mr. Murphy served in the County Counsel’s office from 1982 to 2011, the last four years as County Counsel. Vacancies in Bay Area county counsel offices typically attract many qualified applicants and new attorneys are generally not considered for these positions. This Fellowship provides an opportunity for new attorneys to receive training and experience in advising and litigating on behalf of government agencies as they begin their legal careers.

Attorneys in the San Mateo County Attorney’s Office (previously known as the County Counsel’s Office) are generalists. We provide legal advice to County departments, school districts, and special districts; litigate civil cases in State and Federal courts and before administrative agencies; and manage calendar assignments in Dependency, Probate, Lanterman Petris Short Act, and other specialized areas of law. Fellows are given the opportunity to experience a wide range of public sector work, in litigation, public policy, and advice roles. The goal is to provide each Fellow a year in the life of a Deputy County Attorney.

The one-year Fellowship position is focused on providing opportunities to recent law school graduates and judicial clerks. This Fellowship will begin in the Fall of 2026. Law School graduates who will be sitting for the 2026 July Bar Exam are encouraged to apply.

The annual salary range for the position is $131,673 to $187,860.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The City of Gilroy is recruiting to fill the position of Senior Facilities Maintenance Specialist in the Administrative Services & Human Resources/Risk Management Department, Facilities Division.

In this exciting opportunity, the Senior Facilities Maintenance Specialist will work under direct supervision of the Facilities & Fleet Superintendent and will be responsible for maintaining and constructing all City buildings, structures, and park facilities. This role offers a blend of strategic oversight and hands-on work. You'll have the opportunity to lead initiatives that impact the community directly, such as energy efficiency upgrades, safety improvements, and facility renovations. These tasks include a range of semi-skilled construction and repair work involving the use of basic tools and trade-related equipment. Duties may involve repairing electrical equipment and wiring systems; fixing windows, doors, cabinets, and other building components; maintaining interior and exterior furniture such as tables, chairs, benches, and bookcases; performing general plumbing repairs and installations; and carrying out basic concrete and masonry work. 

Additionally, you must be able to diagnose mechanical problems and methodically troubleshoot any issues occurring with building systems, machines, and equipment. This role also serves as a trainer and provides leadership to the team on specific tasks and projects.
