Overview:
The Grants, Compliance, and Claims Management Unit with Valley Water is the centralized unit for seeking and managing grants brought in to help fund Valley Water projects. The pre-award side of work within the unit will be administered by this Senior Management Analyst, with support from a Management Analyst II, and oversight by the Grants Unit Manager.
 
Senior Management Analyst (SMA): Core components of the Senior Management Analysts work will include researching grant opportunities and writing grant applications; high levels of collaboration with project teams, grants liaisons in watersheds and water utility divisions, procurement, legal, government relations, capital improvement program, and communications; and tracking/reporting. The position will tie efforts into the two grant roadmaps (i.e. strategic funding plans), assist in preparing updates to the Board and staff via all employee communications, and aid in early compliance reviews (pre-agreement) to ensure Valley Water can meet grant terms and conditions. As a Senior, the position will help implement new grants management software on the pre-award side in coordination with the unit’s compliance and claims staff, assist in updating standard operating procedures, and work with the Unit Manager to clearly define rationale for which grants to pursue.

Management Analyst II: Core components of the Management Analyst II's work will include assisting the SMA in researching grant opportunities and writing grant applications, coordinating with project teams, tracking and reporting grant-related information, assisting with compliance tracking for federal and state grant terms and conditions, and assisting with grant communications such as the bi-monthly Grants One Pager update for the Board of Directors and the Grants Action Team monthly meeting.

Group Supervisor I ($34.61/hr-$43.24/hr) - Completion of at least 60 semester or 90 quarter units from an accredited college or university. An emphasis in sociology, psychology, corrections, criminal justice, counseling or a closely related social or behavioral science is preferred.

Group Supervisor II ($39.04/hr-$48.83/hr) - Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university. A degree in sociology, psychology, corrections, criminal justice, counseling or a closely related social or behavioral science is preferred.

Selected candidates must be available to work flexible shifts, including graveyards, day shift, swing shift, weekends and holidays at any of the Probation Department locations. Selected candidates must also successfully pass a background investigation, including fingerprints, medical examination, psychological evaluation, a truth verification test and be free from any physical, emotional or mental condition which might adversely affect the exercise of the powers of a Peace Officer. Felony and misdemeanors convictions may be disqualifying depending on type, number, severity, and recency. Group Supervisors hired into permanent positions must pass PC 832 peace officer training and complete a 160 hour STC training course within one year of appointment.

There are currently various vacancies in the Probation Department. Depending on qualifications, the vacancy may be filled at the Group Supervisor I or Group Supervisor II level.

Group Supervisors are responsible for:

• Supervising daily activities of youth in confinement.
• Observing and supervising unstable youth.
• Enforcing security and safety measures including searches of youth and their living quarters for contraband.
• May perform housekeeping tasks.

• Explaining and enforcing rules and regulations.

Qualifications

Group Supervisor I: Completion of at least 60 semester or 90 quarter units from an accredited college or university. An emphasis in sociology, psychology, corrections, criminal justice, counseling or a closely related social or behavioral science is preferred.

Group Supervisor II: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university. A degree in sociology, psychology, corrections, criminal justice, counseling or a closely related social or behavioral science is preferred.

Licensure/Certification:

• Possession of a class C California driver license or equivalent.

The Position

The San Bruno Police Department is recruiting for Public Safety Dispatchers (Lateral.)  Public Safety Dispatchers are responsible for public safety dispatch and related records management activities. This position operates on a 24-hour, 365 days per year basis, and may be assigned to either a day, swing, or graveyard shift on a regular, rotational basis that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.  Public Safety Dispatchers perform a wide range of duties involving radio, telephone, and computers, applying various procedures and codes. • Performs collateral duties including a variety of related clerical tasks: assisting in preparation of work schedules; training and evaluating performance of new employees; conducting training sessions; assisting in fingerprinting and jail operations, which may include searching prisoners; and is accountable for handling cash, bond, and check transactions.
• Plans, organizes, and directs dispatching and related activities on an assigned shift. This may include preparing schedules and prioritizing work; observing work performed by Dispatcher I employees to ensure compliance with standards; approving time off; conducting employee evaluations; and providing effective recommendations on personnel matters.
• Prepares and maintains training and procedure manuals.  As required, prepares special reports, and undertakes projects for Management Staff.
• May act as Records/Dispatcher Supervisor in their absence.
• Maintains liaison with other Department Divisions, City Departments, and other law enforcement and emergency response agencies.
• Maintains various C.A.D and Record Management Files.
• Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

 Must be able to pass an extensive background investigation.

Education

• Possession of a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Additional related college course work or degree preferred.

Experience

• Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience performing duties similar to that of a Public Safety Dispatcher I.

Certificates and Licenses

• Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License, Class C with a good driving record.
• Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Intermediate Dispatch Certificate; an Advanced California POST Certificate is preferred.
