The Position:

The City of Santa Clara is seeking an experienced, energetic, and collaborative leader to serve as its next Senior Inspector supporting the daily operations of the Building Division. This critical role provides both technical expertise and supervisory leadership to ensure the City’s high standards for safety, service, and professionalism are consistently met.

The Senior Inspector is a supervisory-level classification responsible for performing the most complex building, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical inspections, while also providing guidance, coordination, and training for less experienced inspectors and support staff. Depending on expertise, incumbents may be assigned to one or more specialty areas, including Building, Electrical, Plumbing, Mechanical, Permit Center, or Code Enforcement. Experience in MEP plan review is highly desirable and may be used to fill one of the two openings. 

This position requires an individual who can operate as a subject-matter expert and exercise sound, independent judgment in daily operations. The role is distinguished from the Inspection Manager classification, which carries broader responsibility for division-wide planning, field operations, and strategic technology initiatives. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education Requirements: 

Graduation from high school or possession of a GED.

Minimum Experience Requirements:

Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in building inspection with a city and/or county agency.

Desirable Qualifications

• Depending on position assignment, the required experience and certification may be required in a particular specialty such as building inspection, electrical inspection, or plumbing and mechanical inspection.
• MEP plan review experience.  
• Certified Access Specialist (CASp) certification.
• Minimum one (1) year of supervisory experience that includes supervising building inspectors.

Licenses/Certificates
 The following are required at time of appointment and for the duration of employment:

• A valid California Class C driver's license.
• Certification as a Building Inspector, Electrical Inspector, Plumbing Inspector, Mechanical Inspector, or Combination Inspector by the International Code Council (ICC) or International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO), or equivalent.

Other Requirements

• Required to file a Conflict of Interest statement upon assuming office, annually and upon leaving office, in accordance with City Manager's Directive 100.

About the Data Operations & Project Support Team
The Housing Department’s former Data Support Division has transitioned into the Data Operations and Project Support Team, reflecting an expanded scope and growing role within the City. The team provides technical, analytical, and project management support across a wide range of housing and homelessness initiatives. This includes data integration with County partners, coordination for CalAIM, and administration of Salesforce systems such as Encampment Response Coordination System, the Rent Registry, and the Rent Stabilization Program. The team also develops and maintains the data feeds that inform the City Manager’s Office Focus Area Scorecards, which track progress on reducing unsheltered homelessness.

Future Direction of the Team
The Data Operations & Project Support Team is actively building capacity to meet the City’s increasing demand for high-quality data and systems support. Looking forward, the team will expand its role in integrating systems, strengthening data quality, and developing analytics and forecasting tools that inform both policy and operational decision-making. The team is also exploring opportunities to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance efficiency and expand analytical capabilities.

Position Duties

The Housing Department is currently seeking to fill one (1) full-time Information Systems Analyst vacancy in the Data Operations and Project Support Team.

Salary range for this classification is $141,894.48 - $172,885.44. This salary range includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience.

Currently this position is primarily on-site with limited telework. In accordance with City policy, employees are required to work on-site a minimum of four (4) days per week (at least 32 hours) at the assigned work location in San José. Up to one (1) day per week may be worked remotely, subject to operational needs and supervisor approval. Remote work from outside of the United States is not permitted.

The Information Systems Analyst (ISA) will support the Department’s technology ecosystem that powers affordable housing production, asset management, compliance, homelessness response, and public-facing services. The ISA will perform systems and business analysis, administer critical applications, develop integrations and reports, and provide responsive customer support to staff while following City standards for security and data management. Representative duties include:

• Application Development & Customization: Gather and document business requirements; translate program needs into functional and technical specifications. Design and develop highly usable, accessible solutions by customizing platforms and leveraging modern programming languages. Contribute to the full software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, implementation, upgrades, and ongoing improvements. Build custom applications, features, and integrations within the Salesforce platform to meet evolving business needs. 

• System Administration & Operations: Configure, administer, and support departmental applications (e.g., case management, grants/loans, document management, reporting tools). Provide ongoing support and maintenance for the Salesforce CRM and other core systems, including troubleshooting, resolving issues, and ensuring optimal performance. Stay current with platform updates, best practices, and industry trends to proactively identify opportunities for improvement. 

• Data & Integrations: Design and maintain integrations and data pipelines; develop SQL queries, datasets, and dashboards; perform data quality checks and controls. Plan and execute system changes and enhancements, coordinating testing, migration, and release documentation.

• Quality Assurance & Documentation: Execute structured testing and validation processes; ensure compliance with City standards for security and data management. Prepare and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, architecture diagrams, and user guides to support consistency and knowledge transfer.

• End-User Support & Training: Provide responsive user support, including ticket triage, troubleshooting, and service-level communication. Prepare job aids and training materials; conduct training sessions to build staff proficiency in using applications and data tools.

• Security & Compliance: Maintain role-based access controls, audit trails, backup/recovery processes, and incident response procedures to safeguard systems and data.

• Evaluation & Procurement: Evaluate software and hardware options; prepare recommendations considering cost, security, and fit; assist with procurement processes and vendor deliverables.

• Other Duties as Assigned: Perform related work as required.

Key Focus Areas for Housing

• Case management and program systems (loans/grants, compliance, inspections, outreach).
• Data integrations and reporting for Council, funders, and internal dashboards.
• Secure constituent data collection (e-forms, approvals, digital signatures, auditability).
• Vendor coordination for SaaS implementations and support.

Desired Qualifications
Desired qualifications for the ISA position are listed below:

• Experience administering or integrating enterprise/business applications (customer relationship management, grants/loans, permitting, document management, data warehouse/BI).
• Proficiency with Structured Query Language (SQL), APIs, ETL, integration tools, and report/dashboard development.
• Familiarity with security best practices (authentication, role-based access control, encryption, logging).
• Experience writing technical documentation, user guides, and training materials.
• Ability to coordinate small workgroups, vendors, and stakeholders to meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of Agile/iterative project practices helpful.
• Experience in administration, configuration, development, implementation, and support of the Salesforce (SFDC) platform.
• Experience with Salesforce low-code/no-code solutions such as Flows.
• Experience developing Salesforce custom coded solutions using APEX, Lightning Web Components, and JavaScript.
• Experience with data integration tools such as MuleSoft.
• Experience with GIS integration using Esri’s JavaScript and REST APIs.
• Salesforce Certified Administrator and Platform Developer.

This is a hands-on technical role, where the ideal candidate must demonstrate substantial experience in four core areas:

1. Salesforce administration and development;
2. Integrating disparate applications and systems using Application Programming Interfaces (API) or Extract, Transform, Load (ETL);
3. Retrieving, transforming, and presenting data in dashboards and reports; and, 
4. Working directly with customers to understand business requirements, translate into technical specifications, select and implement appropriate solutions, engineer workflows, and provide user training and support, while demonstrating a focus on customer service.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology (IT), Information Science/Informatics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Management, Data Science/Analytics, Business Analytics, Statistics/Applied Mathematics, or a relevant field.

Experience: Four (4) years of progressively responsible professional/journey level experience, of which at least two (2) years of experience include lead technical work in development, implementation and maintenance of computer systems, or application development and/or support.

Acceptable Substitution:

• Additional years of increasingly responsible directly related work experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
• Completion of a Master's Degree in a relevant field from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one (1) year of the required two (2) years of experience which include lead technical work in development, implementation and maintenance of computer systems, or application development and/or support.

Position Duties

The Fleet Management Division in Public Works Department is responsible for the management of the City’s fleet including comprehensive inspection, maintenance, repair, acquisition, and disposal. The City’s vehicle and equipment fleet currently consists of over 2,700 assets.

The Department of Public Works Fleet Management Division is recruiting to fill one (1) Equipment Mechanic Assistant I/II (EMA I/II) position. The EMA I/II is responsible for performing inspections, communicating with other staff and customers, servicing, installation of electronic electrical equipment, ordering parts, entering data in the fleet management system, road testing and diagnosing problems to make various repairs and adjustments on automotive, heavy truck and/or heavy equipment. While working under general supervision, the EMA I/II will be expected to perform safely and follow all rules required by the City of San Jose. These positions, depending on facility assignments, will require working various shift hours and overtime.

The Water and Sewer Utilities Department is a utility enterprise that provides planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operation of the City's water distribution system, sewer collection system, and recycled water system. The Position: 

This is the entry level maintenance position for the Water and Sewer Utility. Typically, you will be assigned to a crew, and will perform semi-skilled work on water or sewer infrastructure. This position will require odd hours and sometimes extended days if jobs run long. You will come in contact with raw sewage, working in knee deep mud, and working around trenches, often on busy city streets.
  
 Under direction, this position operates, maintains, inspects, repairs, and rehabilitates or replaces the water, sanitary sewer, and/or recycled water systems of the City of Santa Clara. This position performs heavy physical labor while performing planned maintenance and repair or emergency response for the City's utility systems and the associated appurtenances.
  
 This position requires one (1) year of related experience. Related experience may include job duties such as pipefitting, plumbing, commercial or residential construction, underground construction, landscaping, paving, steelworker, HVAC, paving, and heavy equipment operations.

The Parks, Recreation & Community Services Manager – Senior Services is responsible for leading the operations, programs, services, and community engagement efforts that support Redwood City’s older adult population. This position oversees a broad range of senior services, including recreation programming, wellness initiatives, social services coordination, special events, facility operations, partnerships, and community outreach, while helping ensure the City’s brand new 45,000 square foot senior center continues to be a welcoming, active, inclusive, and responsive community space.

This role provides leadership and oversight for the day-to-day operations of senior services programs and facilities, including staff supervision, budget administration, program development, strategic planning, contract management, and customer service delivery. The Manager works collaboratively across City departments and with community organizations, regional agencies, volunteers, and service providers to support programs and services that enhance quality of life, social connection, health, and lifelong learning opportunities for older adults.

The Manager also serves as a key liaison to community stakeholders and the Senior Affairs commission, helps guide long-range planning efforts related to aging services and ensures programs and services reflect the evolving needs of Redwood City’s diverse senior community. Responsibilities include overseeing operational logistics, evaluating program effectiveness, supporting staff development, and maintaining strong partnerships that advance the City’s commitment to accessible and high-quality community services.

The Role:

The City of Redwood City is seeking Firefighter Trainees who, under immediate supervision, actively participate in the Firefighter Academy training program. Trainees perform all related learning and testing activities in preparation for the Firefighter/Engineer classification within the Fire Department of the City of Redwood City. ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City Public Works Services Department invites you to apply for the position of Public Works Maintenance Worker III Equipment Operator in the Right-of-Way Division. The Right-of-Way Division is responsible for maintenance of the City’s public right-of-way including streets and roadways, parking lots, roadway markings and painting, streetlights, traffic signals and signs, and street cleaning.  

The position will report to the Public Works Field Supervisor and will serve as a skilled maintenance worker operating a variety of heavy equipment in the construction and maintenance of public right-of-way- assets, assist in scheduling and reviewing work, perform a variety of skilled tasks in the construction, maintenance, repair streets and sidewalks, and occasionally lead a field crew in assigned work. Work will include the skillful operation of construction and maintenance equipment such as street sweepers, backhoes, paving machines, dump trucks, rollers, trucks, tractors, and skip loaders. The position will be involved in the construction and maintenance operation of streets, sidewalks and gutters, will spread asphalt in patching and repairing streets, read and interpret maps of service areas and sweeping districts, and provide technical guidance to less experienced workers.

Definition: Under supervision, to provide facility support to recreation programs, activities or services; understands and adheres to facility policies and procedures; and performs related work as required.  This temporary part-time non-benefited position works an average of 5 - 25 hours per week during the program year.  Available shifts are Saturday and/or Sunday afternoons/evenings.

Essential Duties:  Depending upon assignment, the duties of a Facility Attendant - Recreation Leader I, II or III may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Organizes, inventories and maintains necessary facilities and materials.
• Open, close, and secure recreation facilities.
• Set up and tear down tables and chairs.
• Follow set-up directions specific to each activity and event.
• Maintains group and individual discipline, and code of conduct.

Recreation Leader II:  Current enrollment in high school, with minimum age of 16 at time of appointment.  Equivalent to three (3) months of full-time experience (approximately 500 hours) of volunteer or paid work experience in recreation programs or equivalent. Depending on area of assignment, previous knowledge of and experience participating in the activity and/or sport is desirable. 

Recreation Leader III:  Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12) grade.  Equivalent to six (6) months full-time experience (approximately 1,000 hours) of volunteer or paid work experience equivalent to a Recreation Leader II with the City of Millbrae. Depending on area of assignment, previous knowledge of and experience participating in the activity and/or sport is desirable.

Certificates:  Must possess a first aid/CPR certification or be willing to obtain one. 

Service Standards:  

Must successfully complete background process.  All candidates will be fingerprinted pursuant to California State Law.  All successful candidates under age 18 must possess a work permit prior to hire.
