The Position

The San Bruno Police Department is recruiting for Public Safety Dispatchers (Lateral.)  Public Safety Dispatchers are responsible for public safety dispatch and related records management activities. This position operates on a 24-hour, 365 days per year basis, and may be assigned to either a day, swing, or graveyard shift on a regular, rotational basis that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.  Public Safety Dispatchers perform a wide range of duties involving radio, telephone, and computers, applying various procedures and codes. Dispatchers receive and transmit emergency and non-emergency telephone and radio traffic as well as process communication reports, records, and radio logs, while maintaining a high level of confidentiality.  Dispatchers may also support the Police Department by performing clerical tasks, training, assisting with fingerprinting, and being accountable for financial transactions.  This position is integral in supporting the goals and objectives of the City and Police Department.  

Examples of Duties

Essential Duties

• Receives and transmits emergency telephone and radio traffic.  
• Maintains and processes a variety of communications reports, records and radio logs.
• Operates a dispatch console, uses Computer Aided Dispatch (C.A.D.) System and other computer programs to process information and records.
• Maintains a high level of confidentiality.
• Performs collateral duties including a variety of related clerical tasks: assisting in preparation of work schedules; training and evaluating performance of new employees; conducting training sessions; assisting in fingerprinting and jail operations, which may include searching prisoners; and is accountable for handling cash, bond, and check transactions. 
• Plans, organizes, and directs dispatching and related activities on an assigned shift. This may include preparing schedules and prioritizing work; observing work performed by Dispatcher I employees to ensure compliance with standards; approving time off; conducting employee evaluations; and providing effective recommendations on personnel matters.
• Prepares and maintains training and procedure manuals.
• Maintains liaison with other Department Divisions, City Departments, and other law enforcement and emergency response agencies.
• Maintains various C.A.D and Record Management Files.

Minimum Qualifications
 

Must be able to pass an extensive background investigation.

Education

• Possession of a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Additional related college course work or degree preferred.

Experience

• Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience performing duties similar to that of a Public Safety Dispatcher I.

Certificates and Licenses

• Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License, Class C with a good driving record.
• Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Intermediate Dispatch Certificate; an Advanced California POST Certificate is preferred.

San Mateo County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) is seeking a well-qualified individual for the position of Psychologist I/II-Behavioral Health and Recovery Services. 

There is currently one vacancy on the Central County Adult Mental Health Clinic team in San Mateo.

 

In this position, the psychologist will work as part of a dynamic, multicultural and multidisciplinary team, supporting our culturally diverse San Mateo residents who are diagnosed with a Serious Mental Illnesses and Co-Occurring Disorders.

This Psychologist will conduct admission assessments and evaluation, provide individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, case management, and rehabilitation services to a caseload of adults diagnosed with a serious mental illness.  The Psychologist will also support the psychology doctoral student program and the MSW/MFT graduated internship program at the clinic and provide students with supervision and provide clinical consultation. The Psychologist will work with the team in appropriate discharge planning and coordination of care with other community based organizations.
 
In this position, the psychologist will also administer psychological testing to a small number of clients referred from other BHRS Adult outpatient clinics.

Psychologist I is the entry level class in the Psychologist series, providing professional psychological diagnostic and therapeutic services in a county program. This class is flexibly staffed with Psychologist II and incumbents are expected to advance to the higher level after gaining experience and demonstrating the required proficiency.
 
Psychologist II is the fully experienced journey level class in the Psychologist series providing a full range of professional psychodiagnostic, psychotherapeutic, consultant and training and research work in a comprehensive community mental health program with a high degree of skill and independence.

Under general supervision, the Light Rail Power Supervisor supervises and coordinates the overhead power and substation maintenance and repair of the light rail system.

Distinguishing Characteristics
This is the first full supervisory level in the maintenance and repair of electric power systems for light rail, including overhead and substations. The next higher class of Light Rail Way, Power and Signal Superintendent manages the overall activities of the program and supervises this class.

About Way, Power & Signal Maintenance
Way, Power & Signal Maintenance is responsible for timely and reliable maintenance, preventive maintenance, inspections, repair and servicing of the light rail right-of-way, rail system power, tracks, signals, station facilities and related equipment. Components of the Way, Power & Signal unit are:
 

• Station & Wayside Maintenance: Station & Wayside Maintenance maintains and repairs (including graffiti removal) light rail stations, terminal buildings, restrooms, park & ride lots, landscaping, fences, guardrails, and other trackside areas.

• Track Maintenance: Track Maintenance maintains (including right-of-way weed eradication, vegetation control, and graffiti removal), performs preventive maintenance, inspects, services and repairs rail, switches, ties, roadbed, and track systems.

• Power Maintenance: Power Maintenance maintains (including trackside right-of-way tree trimming), performs preventive maintenance, inspects, repairs, and services light rail electric power systems, including overhead, substations, lighting, and other electrical systems.

• Signal Maintenance: Signal Maintenance maintains, performs preventive maintenance, inspects, repairs, and services signal systems, crossing gates, fare machines, SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) controls, and station audio/video equipment.

• Passenger Facilities Maintenance: Passenger Facilities Maintenance maintains, performs preventive maintenance, inspects, repairs, and services all VTA-maintained passenger facilities, including bus stops. Services include: bench installation, painting and repair, core drilling for poles at new bus stops, garbage collection, trash receptacle installation and relocation, graffiti abatement, litter removal, pressure washing, red curb painting, signage inspection, route updates, and sweeping services. Janitorial services for transit centers are provided daily through a Facilities Maintenance service contract with a third-party vendor. Guadalupe

Minimum Qualifications

Employment Standards
Sufficient education, training and experience to demonstrate possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Development of the required knowledge, skills and abilities is typically obtained through the equivalent of six (6) years of experience in electrical/electronic maintenance, including one (1) year in an electrified rail or high voltage power supervisory position AND the equivalent of completion of a recognized apprenticeship program for electricians.

Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license and the ability to qualify for and maintain a Class B license.

The Position

The Veterinary Technician will assist in the care of animal patients at the City’s animal shelter. The City of Auburn is hiring for the seasonal, part-time Bus Driver I position in the Auburn Transit Department.

Auburn Transit is looking for qualified individuals to join our transit team. These positions are seasonal, part-time and each has a maximum of 999 hours of work per fiscal year. The incumbent's schedule will be flexible, based on the needs of the department, community transit needs and employee availability.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

This position operates a variety of transit and General Public Paratransit (GPPV) vehicles to transport passengers in a safe, courteous and reliable manner. The incumbent will learn all transit laws, operating procedures and policies.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

The Bus Driver I is an entry-level classification responsible for routine tasks and operation of specific transit vehicles. The role is performed under direct supervision from the Transportation Supervisor or designee and does not involve supervision over other staff.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

The following duties are typical for this classification. Actual work may vary based on department needs or change due to evolving business practices.

• Operates a bus or other General Public Paratransit (GPPV) vehicles on City streets and highways in all weather conditions to transport passengers on established routes with designated stops, on-demand rideshare services, field trips and special events.
• Ensures passenger safety by observing passenger behavior, verifying safety belts are secured and rendering aid to passengers in an emergency.
• Assists passengers boarding and deboarding as needed or requested, including senior citizens, individuals with disabilities and care-dependent persons.
• Operates a smart device and two-radio to respond to transit dispatch and on-demand rideshare requests requiring adjustments to existing schedules and routes.
• Operates automatic wheelchair lifts, collects fares, issues passes, secures wheelchairs and other assistive devices.
• Promptly notifies management and completes reports regarding accidents and incidents involving vehicles and passengers.
• Conducts mandatory daily pre-trip vehicle inspections adhering to state and city regulations before each route, including reporting inspection results, daily trip logs, and required vehicle repairs and maintenance.
• Performs minor maintenance, repair and cleaning of transit vehicles and fleet storage facility.
• Adheres to all public transit federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations.
• Maintains a valid California driver’s license and passenger certifications required by the state vehicle code, Department of Motor Vehicles, Department of Transportation and other applicable standards.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Our staffing is expected to expand in size as the City grows. The Department is managed by a Chief of Police, a Deputy Chief, 4 Lieutenants, 10 Sergeants, and a Police Records Supervisor. The Department has three Bureaus; Patrol, Investigations, and Community Relations. Police Officers are assigned to all Bureaus where they work in various capacities and teams.   Within the Bureaus are many specialty units including K-9, Traffic/Motors, School Resource Officers, Gang Task Force, Detectives, and Homeless Outreach Street Team.  There are a number of collateral duties available to officers including SWAT, Crisis Negotiations Team, Field Training Officer, Honor Guard, Arrest & Control Instructors, Firearms Instructors, Gang Resistance Education, and Training (G.R.E.A.T) instructors, Social Media Team, Recruitment, and Bicycle Patrol. The Woodland Police Department prides itself on being a service-orientated agency using a Community Oriented Policing model and Intelligence-Led Policing (ILP) strategy. The Woodland Police Department welcomes and practices constant community engagement, outreach, and activism. The City's Police Activities League (PAL) was formed and is led by Woodland Police personnel who place an emphasis on providing accessible and healthy activities for the city's youth.

The City of Woodland Police Department is looking for lateral officer candidates who are currently employed as a California peace officer, have two years of experience and possess a California POST Basic Certificate or are have formerly been employed as a California peace officer, possess a California POST Basic Certificate and have not had more than a three-year break in service as a California Peace Officer.
