The Waterpark EMT is responsible for responding to emergencies and providing efficient and immediate care to the critically ill/injured at Adventure Waterpark. In addition, The EMT provides security services as needed. The EMT is expected to work weekends and holidays on a regular basis.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (This is a general description of duties and is not all-inclusive)

• Functions within the scope of care as defined by state, regional, and local regulatory agencies
• Provide outstanding customer service while performing assigned duties, including interpreting and conveying information throughout the Waterpark
• Ability to open/maintain an airway, administer CPR, control hemorrhage, bandage wounds, immobilize extremities, administer oxygen, and other duties within the scope of practice
• Respond to emergencies in a timely and safe manner
• Recognize hazardous situations and contain area until help arrives
• Produce competent reports of incidents and injuries
• Provide public security services during the course of the day and for Admin at closing
• Uphold all rules and regulations of the Waterpark
• Maintain a high degree of confidentiality, professionalism, and integrity while performing all aspects of assigned responsibilities
• Attend training and staff meetings as assigned
• Assist other City departments in the event of major emergencies

SUPERVISION EXERCISED AND RECIEVED

The position is supervised by the Waterpark Operations Manager and/or Recreation Supervisor

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be 18 years or older
• Possess E.M.T. certification with experience in the field, and submit verification upon hire
• Possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral
• Ability to establish and maintain productive relations and positive attitude with and toward others
• Possess good organizational skills and be able to multi-task
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required
• Ability to secure and retain valid California driver's license
• All candidates must meet the following physical requirements:
  • Must not be allergic to chlorine or other pool chemicals
  • Sit or stand for long periods of time (100% of assigned shift, and/or in excess of 10 hours)

What You’ll Do

• Operate wastewater treatment facilities to control flow and processing of wastewater, sludge and effluent; monitor gauges, meters and control panels; observe variation in operating conditions, interpreting meter and gauge readings and test results to determine processing requirements.
• Operate valves and gates, start and stop pumps, engines and electric motors to control and adjust flow and treatment processes, operate and maintain boilers, perform routine maintenance work on valves, tanks, related equipment and facilities.
• Monitor, adjust and troubleshoot as needed plant operational processes utilizing data-driven technology, such as the SCADA or PCS system.
• Fully utilize the computerized work systems in accordance with work flow processes.
• Operate treatment plant vehicles and stationary machinery as required.
• Collect samples and perform routine laboratory tests and analyses.

These positions require shift work, nights, weekends, holidays with on-call emergency response 24 hours per day. However, along with this challenge is the benefit of working a 12-hour shift that results in a very favorable work/life balance and requires the minimum commuting days as compared to other standard 8-hour shifts.

Who You Are

The WWTP Operator in Training:

• You have graduated from high school or equivalent, and have six educational units of math or science course work, and six months experience in handling mechanical equipment and tools.
• You have up to 18 months to obtain a Grade I WWTP Certificate to promote to WWTP Operator I.

The WWTP Operator I:

• You have graduated from high school or equivalent and have six months experience in handling mechanical equipment tools.
• You possess a Grade I WWTP Certificate and work under direct supervision of the WWTP Shift Supervisor or WWTP Operator II and perform more routine operation work.
• You may be promoted to WWTP Operator II upon obtaining a Grade II WWTP Certificate and completing qualifying training.

The WWTP Operator II

• You possess a Grade II Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate issued by the State of California.
• You have graduated from High school or equivalent and a minimum of one year of experience in the operation of a wastewater treatment plant.

Group Supervisor I ($34.61/hr-$43.24/hr) - Completion of at least 60 semester or 90 quarter units from an accredited college or university. An emphasis in sociology, psychology, corrections, criminal justice, counseling or a closely related social or behavioral science is preferred.

Group Supervisor II ($39.04/hr-$48.83/hr) - Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university. A degree in sociology, psychology, corrections, criminal justice, counseling or a closely related social or behavioral science is preferred.

Selected candidates must be available to work flexible shifts, including graveyards, day shift, swing shift, weekends and holidays at any of the Probation Department locations. Selected candidates must also successfully pass a background investigation, including fingerprints, medical examination, psychological evaluation, a truth verification test and be free from any physical, emotional or mental condition which might adversely affect the exercise of the powers of a Peace Officer. Felony and misdemeanors convictions may be disqualifying depending on type, number, severity, and recency. Group Supervisors hired into permanent positions must pass PC 832 peace officer training and complete a 160 hour STC training course within one year of appointment.

There are currently various vacancies in the Probation Department. Depending on qualifications, the vacancy may be filled at the Group Supervisor I or Group Supervisor II level.

Group Supervisors are responsible for:

• Supervising daily activities of youth in confinement.
• Observing and supervising unstable youth.
• Enforcing security and safety measures including searches of youth and their living quarters for contraband.

• Explaining and enforcing rules and regulations.

Qualifications

THE POSITION:

Under general supervision, receives and transmits routine and emergency telephone and radio traffic; dispatches and coordinates police, fire, public works, and other municipal staff and equipment via multifrequency two-way radio; maintains and processes a variety of communications reports, records, and radio logs; and does related work as required.

The After School Instructor will plan, prepare, and instruct recreation activities (Instructor Aides will assist). Activities may include art, cooking, dance, STEM activities and other program areas. PROGRAM LEADER (SPORTS AND FITNESS)

Salary Range: $17.37 to $23.15/hour, DOE

This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefitted position; 15-20 hours per week (not to exceed 950 hours per calendar year); predominantly afternoon/evening schedule, some weekends.

DEFINITION

The Town seeks gym monitors, scorekeepers, and leaders for a variety of youth and adult sports. Sports may include, but are not limited to basketball, softball, and bocce ball. Sports knowledge is preferred. All staff will be cross-trained for multiple sports. CPR/FA certification is recommended but not required.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Program Leader receives supervision from the Program Coordinator and/or Program

The Newark Recreation and Community Services Department is looking for Pool Service Technician for our fantastic swim lesson and aquatic programs, to work at the Silliman Activity & Family Aquatic Center. We are looking for someone to perform a wide variety of duties related to maintaining the City’s Aquatics facilities, pools, water slides and property. Swimming experience is desired. Those that are successful in the application review will be invited to attend an interview either in person, or via ZOOM. Please note that this position requires you to work in an indoor aquatic environment subject to warm/humid temperatures.
