Under the general supervision of the Program Director, we are seeking professional, passionate, and energetic individuals who can successfully manage a preschool classroom, develop lesson plans, and effectively promote the emotional, physical, mental, and social wellbeing in a classroom environment.  This is a classroom position, not an administrative/office position

The Shallow Water Lifeguard is responsible for the supervision of on-site recreation activities at the Aqua Adventure Waterpark and safe operations of all rides (in water 4 ft or less). This responsibility may include public assistance, public education, enforcement of rules and regulations, administration of first aid and life support, and light maintenance. The Lifeguard is expected to work weekends and holidays on a regular basis.

• Provide outstanding customer service while performing assigned duties, including interpreting and conveying information throughout the Waterpark
• Supervise public use to enhance recreation activities and insure safe and legal uses
• Ensure the safety of all guests and staff within the Waterpark
• Respond to emergencies in a timely and safe manner
• Produce competent reports of incidents and injuries
• Recognize hazardous situations and contain area until help arrive
• Comply with standards of City designated safety agencies
• Maintain a high degree of confidentiality in performing all aspects of assigned responsibilities
• Attend training and staff meetings as assigned
• Perform duties of Water Safety Attendant as needed
• Assist other City departments in the event of major emergencies
• Perform other duties as assigned

SUPERVISION EXERCISED AND RECEIVED

The position is supervised by the Lead Lifeguard and/or Coordinator.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• At least 15 years of age
• Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to establish and maintain productive relations and positive attitude with and toward others
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Possess excellent organizational skills and be able to multitask
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required

  • Swim 50 yards without stopping
  • Sit or stand for long periods of time (90% of assigned shift, possibly in excess of 10 hours)

The Coordinator is responsible for providing the highest quality of guest service to all visitors. The Coordinator will be responsible for administrative duties and assist at various City facilities, as assigned. In addition, the Coordinator will monitor facility rentals and support the special events. This is potentially a year around part time position.

Energetic and responsible leaders are needed to work with youth ages 4-17 (primarily 5-12) in a variety of camp and community service programs. The Camp Specialist is required to plan and implement sports, games, arts-n-crafts, dance and outdoor work projects.

The Newark Recreation and Community Services Department is looking for Pool Service Technician for our fantastic swim lesson and aquatic programs, to work at the Silliman Activity & Family Aquatic Center. We are looking for someone to perform a wide variety of duties related to maintaining the City’s Aquatics facilities, pools, water slides and property. Swimming experience is desired. The Program Coordinator for is a unique position that is primarily responsible for planning and coordination of all aspects of the ASES funded After School Academy (ASA) program. ASA provides students in grades 1st through 6th a safe space for expanded learning. Every day students have the opportunity to make social connections, experience enriching activities, and receive academic assistance. Students socialize and connect with our team and their peers daily. ASA supports students every school day immediately after school until 6pm. Our goal is to improve student's social, emotional, and academic potential through community, education, recreation, and enrichment.

• Coordinate all aspects of a After School Academy program

• Acting immediately and appropriately to ensure the safety of patrons in the event of an emergency/Providing emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services
• Performing various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility
• Having a thorough knowledge of rescue techniques

The Facility Attendant provides operational supervision of community centers during the absence of full-time staff. Work hours may vary but will often be evenings, weekends and occasionally weekdays. The Waterpark Deck Crew provides custodial maintenance and supervision of the Waterpark before, during, and after Waterpark operations. Work hours may vary but will often be mornings, weekends, weekdays, and holidays.
