POSITION

To respond to fire alarms, medical emergency, and other emergency activities in the protection of life and property; and to participate in fire prevention, training and station and equipment maintenance activities.  The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current vacancy in the Woodland Fire Department (WFD), as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The following are typical illustrations of duties encompassed by the job class, not an all-inclusive or limiting list:

• Respond to fire alarms with assigned company; lay and connect hose lines; hold nozzles and direct water streams; raise and climb ladders.
• Perform rescue operations in a variety of situations including but not limited to rescuing persons from areas threatened by fire, hazardous conditions, confined space, and active shooter/rescue task force events.
• Provide basic life support during medical incidents, assessing and initiating patient care until relieved by proper medical personnel.
• Operate all types of portable fire extinguishers, hand tools, hose lines, power tools and appliances, salvage covers, forcible entry tools, emergency medical equipment and other rescue equipment.
• Participate in fire drills; serve as instructor as assigned; attend training sessions.
• Promote and maintain safety in the workplace.
• Work cooperatively with others as integral part of a team.
• Follow chain of command and be responsive to orders.
• Regular, predictable, consistent and timely attendance is an essential function of the position, in that Employee must be present and fit for duty.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

• Respond to hazardous materials incidents and participate as member of the County Hazardous Materials Team. Shut down natural gas and electrical services to structure.
• Participate in fire inspection activities and other fire prevention, community risk reduction, and public education activities as assigned.
• Ensure that businesses are operating in compliance with the fire code.
• Participate in the programs providing various public relations services, including facility tours, public education seminars and other public events.
• Respond to inquiries from the public.
• Assist in investigating fire origin and cause.
• May be requested to respond to emergencies during non-duty hours. 
• Control traffic.
• Inventory supplies; maintain records.
• Can serve as “acting positions” when certified.
• Clean station quarters and equipment and maintain a clean and orderly condition in and about the fire station; perform minor building maintenance.
• Operate radio and communications equipment.
• Assist in overhaul and salvage operations.
• Learn a wide variety of firefighting duties, methods, and procedures including the operation of firefighting apparatus, equipment, and tools.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent.  College-level coursework in fire science, general management, or related field is desirable.
• Proof of completion of accredited Firefighter Academy

Experience:

• Possession of at least three (3) years of full-time work experience with a municipal fire agency, including current employment in good standing.  Exceptions may be considered for those in lay-off status if deemed not for cause.

License or Certificate:

Required Upon Hire:

• Proof of valid Candidate Physical Ability Test (valid for one year from issuance date).

Required Upon Hire and Continued Employment:

• Valid California Commercial Driver License (Class A or B), or Class C w/FF endorsement
• Emergency Medical Technician Certificate

Detective Assignment

• Serve on assigned taskforce including gang or drug taskforce; gather knowledge about individuals or groups who are involved in criminal activity in order to understand how they function, describe their current activities, forecast future action they may undertake, and provide intelligence and resources that will eradicate criminal activity; coordinate and participate in multi-jurisdictional intelligence gathering and suppression operations;
• Receive, review, and analyze reports and case information on law enforcement activities requiring special and detailed investigations;
• Coordinate and conduct complete and detailed investigations of crimes involving juveniles and adults, crimes against persons and property including child and elder abuse claims, homicides, rape and assaults with deadly weapons, and crimes involving vice, gaming, and narcotics violations; follow cases from reporting, to arrest, to prosecution;
• Contact, interview, and interrogate victims, complainants, witnesses, suspects, and others involved in cases and incidents; obtain statements, documents, and factual and physical evidence;
• Collect, preserve, maintain, and book evidence and recovered property found that is involved with suspected crimes;
• Hold stakeouts, perform undercover activities, conduct surveillance activities, and other observation assignments;

Experience:

• Some work experience as a California peace officer or other work experience that demonstrates a general aptitude for police work.

PATTERN II –LATERAL TRANSFER

• Successfully completed (at any time) a California POST certified basic law enforcement academy: AND
• Must be currently employed in a California law enforcement agency with at least one (1) year of full-time experience as a sworn peace officer with a California law enforcement agency, and be eligible for appointment as a Peace Officer under Section 830.1 PC; AND
• Must possess a basic POST certificate issued by California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training or other documentation to substantiate your eligibility.
• Must possess or be eligible to possess a Proof of Eligibility (POE) or certificate (Basic, Intermediate, or Advanced) from California Peace Officer Standards and Training under SB 2.  Ineligibility or decertification from POST will automatically disqualify candidate from holding a peace officer classification.

• Graduate from high school or passage of high school level General Education Development (GED) test: AND

The Dixon Fire Department is opening their Firefighter/Paramedic Recruit position for someone to attend the Fire Academy in January 2026. The "Firefighter/Paramedic Recruit" is an entry-level classification designed for recruits with a current paramedic license to gain firefighting, fire rescue, and fire prevention skills and training necessary through an accredited Fire Academy. Training may include firefighting techniques and procedures; emergency medical training; technical rescue and hazardous materials training.

The role is distinguished from lower classifications by its scope of work and requirements for specialized training and technical proficiency. This classification performs recurring tasks and solves problems independently under general supervision from the department director or assigned supervisor, and does not exercise supervision over staff.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

The following duties are typical for this classification. Actual work may vary based on department needs or change due to evolving business practices.

• Perform  a varied range of administrative, operational and technical tasks supporting assigned programs and functions.
• Maintain accurate financial, human resources, and administrative records and data within various computer systems, including data entry, report generation, and resolving discrepancies.
• Participate in the implementation and testing of new technology systems and process improvements.
• Handle inquiries, provide information, offer technical information and guidance on procedures, rules and regulations to internal and external customers.
• Provide administrative support to department management and staff, including research, processing, and preparing reports, correspondence, and written materials.
• Maintain professional and courteous interactions with all contacts.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Finance Duties:

• Participate in core finance processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, license and permit fee collection, and general financial transaction processing.
• Process and record financial transactions related to payroll and benefits, prepare related tax forms (e.g. 1099 and W2), and fee/levy data for tax rolls.
• Assist with budget preparation and monitoring, financial reporting, external auditor inquiries, and the review/approval of purchase requisitions.
• Participate in the implementation and adherence to Government Accounting Standards Board requirements and statements.
• Maintain financial and accounting records and data within systems, reconcile accounts, identify and resolve discrepancies, and prepare related reports.

Human Resources Duties:

• Participate in various functions supporting payroll, recruitment, benefits administration, leaves and other human resources functions.
• Participate in processing payroll including changes to wages, positions, benefits, leaves of absence, and related.
• Assist with benefits administration including processing forms, enrollments and changes, assisting employees, and responding to vendor inquiries.
• Intake and assist with worker’s compensation and insurance claim documentation.
• Apply personnel rules, MOUs, and relevant regulations to HR and payroll tasks, and assist with ensuring compliance, and maintain confidentiality of sensitive personnel and management information.

The Dixon Fire Department offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity for qualified applicants pursuing a career in fire safety.  The position performs fire prevention activities to save lives and property; responds to hazardous material incidents; responds to all fire alarms with designated company; prepares and operates the necessary equipment at the scene of the fire such as a hose, ladders, chemicals, bars, hooks, etc.; administers first aid to injured patrons; performs other acts required of a Firefighter at the scene of an emergency; carries out all duties assigned by Superior Officers.  Work involves irregular hours during the day and evenings, and on weekdays, weekends, and holidays.

The City of Patterson’s Public Works Department is seeking to fill a Full-Time Environmental Compliance Specialist position. 

Under general supervision, assists and coordinate assigned environmental compliance programs including industrial waste pretreatment, Fats Oils and Grease (FOG), storm water, water conservation and/or recycling programs within the department; coordinates assigned activities with other divisions, outside agencies and the general public; and provides staff assistance.

This position may require working flexible or extended hours including evenings and weekends.

The City of Dixon is looking to fill one full-time, regular position of Accountant in the Finance Department. This position performs professional level accounting functions such as recording and reporting financial transactions, review of financial records; provides fiscal control for assigned areas of operation, preparation of financial report statements and analyzes. This is not a remote position and work schedule will be Monday through Friday, onsite.

Accountant - This classification is the entry level, mid-management position in the accounting series. Professional level work is performed, and incumbents are expected to perform the full range of accounting duties with minimal supervision. Successful performance in this position requires a thorough knowledge of governmental accounting procedures and the ability to exercise sound judgement within established guidelines.
