Silicon Valley Power (SVP) currently provides over 40 percent of Santa Clara’s electricity from carbon-free renewable resources. In addition to using green energy from large-scale wind, solar, geothermal and hydroelectric projects outside of the area, SVP employs innovative ways to locally produce electricity by capturing and burning methane gas from a closed city landfill and using power from solar generating systems on city-owned garages and vacant, unusable land. The Position: 

Under direct supervision, the Assistant Electric Utility Engineer performs a variety of entry-level professional electric utility engineering field and office work in Electric system planning, electric system design, construction and/or maintenance programs.  SVP invites applications from dynamic and innovative qualified candidates for an entry level engineering position. Assistant Electric utility engineer will be part engineering team to conduct design, establish standards and implement construction projects. Incumbents may be assigned to work in any division in the Electric Department reporting to a Principal, Senior Electric Utility Engineer, Electric Utility Engineer Division Manager, Assistant Director or Director.

The salary range for this position is $145,678.08 – $185,797.44.   This position may be filled at or near the minimum of the salary range. 

Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Education/Experience Requirements: 

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with: 
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering from a college or university that is accredited by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET).

               OR

• • Possession of a State of California Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T.) Certificate and at least 1 year of experience in electrical or mechanical engineering office and/or field work, and Experience using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Mathlab).

License/Certifications: 

Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is required at time of appointment and for the duration of employment.

Desirable Qualifications: 

• Registration as an Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineer in the State of California.
• Experience using ESRI based Geographic Information System (GIS).

• Must be able to perform all of the essential functions of the job assignment.
• May be required to work shifts, weekends, and odd and unusual hours in the performance of duties and emergency situations.

The Superior Court of California, County of San Mateo is seeking a dependable and skilled Court Utility / Maintenance Worker to support daily court operations through general maintenance, repair, custodial coverage, and logistical services. This position performs a wide range of semi-skilled and skilled tasks essential to maintaining well-cared for and professional court facilities.

This is an opportunity to play a vital behind-the-scenes role supporting the administration of justice. Court Utility / Maintenance Workers are vital to ensure court facilities remain safe, functional, and welcoming for judicial officers, staff, justice partners, and the public.

The Court Utility / Maintenance Worker performs a broad range of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, repair, custodial, and logistical services in support of court facilities. Incumbents work independently on routine assignments and under general supervision on complex or unusual tasks, exercising sound judgment and professionalism in an active court environment.

The work differs from higher-level trades classifications in that the work is generalist in nature and does not require journeyman-level certification. It differs from custodial-only classifications by requiring maintenance, repair, carpentry, and equipment support skills.

Examples Of Duties

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Perform painting, furniture repair, minor carpentry, and wood restoration
• Repair and replace window coverings, fixtures, and building hardware
• Conduct basic appliance, equipment, and minor electrical repairs
• Perform minor workstation upgrades and repairs
• Assemble, move, and reconfigure furniture and equipment
• Provide occasional custodial coverage on an as-needed basis, not as a primary function of the classification, including restrooms, offices, and public areas
• Deliver paper, supplies, furniture, and water gallons throughout court facilities
• Stock, inventory, and assist with ordering supplies and materials
• Assist departments, court staff, and operations as required
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and light equipment
• Follow established safety procedures and court protocols
• Perform other facilities related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Knowledge of:

• General building maintenance and repair practices
• Painting materials, techniques, and surface preparation
• Basic carpentry and furniture repair
• Safe use and care of tools and equipment
• Workplace safety standards and procedures

Ability to:

• Perform physical labor safely, including lifting, moving, and standing for extended periods
• Read and follow work orders, instructions, and safety guidelines
• Work independently and prioritize multiple tasks
• Communicate effectively and professionally with court staff and the public
• Maintain discretion and professionalism in a court environment

Experience:

• One (1) to three (3) years of experience in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, custodial services, or a related field
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
• Possession of a valid California Driver’s License may be required

The examination process will consist of an application screening (pass/fail) based on the candidate's application and responses to the supplemental questions. Candidates who pass the application screening will be invited to a panel interview (weight: 100%).

Police Officer

Description:  Performs law enforcement and crime prevention work, controls traffic flow and enforces state and local regulations. Some essential duties are:

• Responds to calls for service and takes appropriate action to resolve problems

Qualifications: Must either be currently employed as a sworn Peace Officer in California and have successfully passed an FTO program, or have completed a Certified POST Basic Academy.

Education: Graduation from a U.S. High School or equivalent is required.  Additional education at the college level is preferred.

Licenses:  Possession of or the ability to obtain a valid California driver’s license by the time of hire, and ability to maintain the valid license.

Physical Requirement: Meet standards of adequate physical stature, endurance and agility. Vision: • 20/100 correctable to 20/30, with adequate depth perception and color vision. If soft contacts are worn, no limit on uncorrected distance visual acuity provided soft lenses have been worn for at least six months prior to the physical examination.

Background: • As part of the selection process, successful candidates will undergo a stringent background investigation which will include: confirming all information provided by the candidates, a polygraph test, fingerprinting, psychological and medical examinations, including a drug screening. SALARY:  Step A ($120,598.79) to Step E ($146,552.90) annually. DEFINITION:

The Music Instructor is responsible for providing quality music instruction to participants of varying skill levels in a positive and engaging environment. The instructor will plan, prepare, and implement music lessons tailored to each participant’s abilities and goals, teaching music theory, aural skills, and practical techniques to individuals and groups. They will also prepare participants for performances or showcases as part of the program, select and acquire appropriate teaching materials and resources, and motivate participants to achieve continuous progress. In addition, the Music Instructor will communicate effectively with recreation staff and parents/caregivers regarding schedules, progress, and participant needs, assess participants’ abilities, provide constructive feedback, and maintain progress records. Delivering excellent customer service and representing the City in a professional and positive manner are essential aspects of this role. The ideal candidate will be patient, enthusiastic, and dedicated to fostering a supportive learning environment where participants can grow both musically and personally.
