The Department: 

The Department of Public Works (DPW) constructs, maintains and improves various components of the City’s infrastructure and provides quality, cost-effective, timely services to the residents and businesses of Santa Clara. DPW is responsible for a wide variety of programs throughout the City which include implementation of solid waste and urban run-off pollution prevention programs, design, construction management, inspection and maintenance of City streets, bridges, storm drain systems, traffic signal systems, building facilities, fleet, street trees, landscaping and the closed landfill. The Mechanical Maintenance Position is in the Facilities Division of the Public Works Department.

The Position: 

The Mechanical Maintenance Worker is a journey level technical classification. This classification operates, lubricates, cleans, adjusts, and makes repairs to heating, ventilating, refrigeration, emergency generators, solar systems, and other stationary building equipment, and installs and troubleshoots electrical systems up to 480 volts. The Mechanical Maintenance Worker is distinguished from the Mechanical Maintenance Foreman/Forewoman in that the latter is a supervisory position responsible for supervising Mechanical Maintenance Workers and Utility Workers in the maintenance and repair of the mechanical equipment found in City buildings.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Education Requirements: 

Graduation from high school or possession of a GED

Minimum Experience Requirements: 

Two (2) years of experience in the maintenance, operation, installation and troubleshooting of diesel and gas engines, centralized heating, ventilation, emergency generators and air conditioning units, related mechanical equipment and electrical systems (up to 480 volts) found in heavy duty machinery or large buildings, such as manufacturing plants, office buildings, or public buildings.

License/Certifications: 

• Possession of a valid Class C California driver's license is required at time of appointment and for the duration of employment.
• California State issued Forklift Certification by the end of the probationary period.
• HVAC/Refrigerant certification required at time of appointment and for the duration of employment.

Experience with building management systems, such as Direct Digital Control (DDC), Variable Air Volume (VAV), and other related electrical control systems is desirable.

Maintenance Worker III is an advanced journey-level position responsible for operating a variety of light construction equipment in support of Valley Water’s maintenance and construction projects. This role provides agency-wide support for work on creeks, ponds, reservoirs, and other flood control facilities throughout the county.

Assigned to the Vegetation Field Operations Unit, this position performs a broad range of duties supporting Valley Water’s vegetation management programs. Responsibilities include vegetation control, integrated vegetation management, arboriculture, native plant revegetation, invasive plant management, and biotechnical erosion control on Valley Water properties.

This is primarily an outdoor position requiring work in varying and sometimes challenging environmental conditions, including heat, cold, and rain. Incumbents may also be required to respond to after-hours flood control emergencies, including nighttime callouts.

As a light equipment operator, the Maintenance Worker III must possess a valid Class A driver’s license to operate Valley Water commercial vehicles and to transport light equipment used in vegetation management and flood control projects. Daily equipment operation may include a compactor, water truck, tree truck and chipper, dump truck, and wheel loader. Equipment is used to haul vegetative debris, maintain native plant mitigation sites, support invasive plant management efforts, and assist with Valley Water’s sandbag operations.

This position also ultimately requires a Qualified Applicator’s Certificate (QAC) in Category C (Right-of-Way) and Category F (Aquatics) to mix and apply herbicides and calibrate spray equipment for vegetation control on Valley Water managed properties.

The City of Dixon is opening a great opportunity for those interested in contributing to local law enforcement efforts for the position of Police Volunteer in the Police Department. Under the direction and supervision of experienced police personnel, volunteers will provide critical support across various functions, complementing the efforts of sworn officers and civilian staff.

This is a volunteer position intended as an educational and community service experience. Project Manager I (Utility Location and Marking)

AC Transit is seeking a Project Manager I (Utility Location and Marking) in the Capital Projects department. Under general direction, serves as project manager for routine to moderately complex projects and assists higher-level project managers on more complex projects as needed. This is the experienced level within the Project Manager series. There are four (4) levels within the series, which are distinguished from one another by the technical complexity of the assigned duties and the level of discretion and independent judgment exercised. Positions at this level are responsible for performing project management activities for routine to moderately complex projects.

Positions in the Project Manager series are flexibly staffed to meet the needs of the District. Positions at the experienced level are normally filled by advancement from the entry-level and promotion is subject to the following: (i) management affirmation that the incumbent is performing the full range of duties assigned and (ii) after gaining requisite experience and demonstrating proficiency that meets the minimum qualifications of the next higher-level classification.

This classification is differentiated from the Project Manager II in that the latter is a lead-level classification responsible for organizing, assigning, and reviewing the work of departmental and/or contract staff, and is further differentiated by the scope, complexity, and sensitivity of the assigned projects.

Prepares, reviews, and maintains a variety of project-related information and documentation, including project schedules, Statements of Work (SOWs), status reports, detailing issues, risks, and deliverables; monitors agreements and projects for compliance with relevant codes, ordinances, rules, and regulations.
Reviews and recommends the approval of project proposals; coordinates design and planning services for assigned projects; and reviews design concepts for compliance with development plans.
Coordinates with grants management, grants accounting, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable to resolve issues.

Prepares project staff reports for Board presentations; presents oral and written presentations to a variety of stakeholders that may include external boards and commissions, advisory committees, and citizen groups.

Attends and participates in professional group meetings and committees; stays abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of project management and federal, state, and local regulations related to the area of assignment.

Performs utility marking of the District's Fiber Optic Cable located in the public right-of-way using industry standard locating equipment and as-built drawings based on notifications from 811/USA Alert or City Building Departments.

Performs utility marking of all utilities located on District property using industry standard locating equipment and as-built drawings based on requests from District's Project Managers.
Maintain and upgrade as appropriate existing utility location documentation.
Performs related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in a field directly related to the area to which assigned. For Engineering/Capital Projects: Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, planning, or a related field.

Experience: Four (4) years of experience in the professional field required by the assigned special projects or two (2) years that involved responsibilities at a level equivalent to the District's classification of Project Coordinator. Years of experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a two for one basis; two (2) years of experience may be submitted for one (1) year of education).

Highly Desirable: 

• Ability to read and understand as-built plans, including construction plans
• Ability to observe construction work performed by others that impacts District's utilities to ensure any site restoration is done to code.
• Must understand the 811 / USA Alert system and program, how it works, how to monitor for projects that may impact our District assets.
• Must know the color codes used to mark utilities.
• Interpersonal skills to coordinate with contractor who are permitted to excavate in/around District assets and with City inspectors to enforce quality standards on subject contractors. Ability to use locator equipment, materials, and hand tools to perform marking tasks. Ability to write reports documenting marking tasks performed.
• Must be proactive and a self-starter. Utility marking requires the individual to stay ahead of the contractors.
• Must be willing to work in inclement weather.

Physical Requirements: Must maintain the physical condition necessary to perform tasks in an office setting operating a computer, keyboard, and other peripheral equipment; safely drive a District automobile; and walk, stand, and climb short distances in construction settings in order to inspect the progress of assigned projects.

Performs a variety of unskilled or semi-skilled maintenance work, and operates a variety of equipment in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance and replacement of Town water, sewer, street and storm drainage facilities and systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

The City of Lincoln is creating an applicant pool for the position of Public Safety Dispatcher I/II within the Police Department.  Interested applicants may submit their application to be part of the applicant pool.  As new vacancies occur, the recruitment team will review applications for consideration.

The Lincoln Police Department is authorized for 23 sworn officers, six dispatchers, and various other civilian and volunteer positions. The dispatch center provides public safety dispatch services for the Lincoln Police Department and three Lincoln Fire stations. The communications center is staffed 24/7 and dispatchers work in pairs or solo. Public safety dispatchers answer emergency and non-emergency calls for police, fire and other city services. Dispatchers prioritize calls and dispatch public safety units as needed. Heavy phone and radio use is a primary duty of the position. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Public Safety Dispatcher I

The Public Safety Dispatcher I is the entry level class in which incumbents learn to perform and perform Police Dispatcher duties under immediate supervision. This classification is alternatively staffed with Public Safety Officer II and incumbents may advance to the higher level after gaining experience and demonstrating a level of proficiency that meets the qualifications of the higher class.

Public Safety Dispatcher II

The Public Safety Dispatcher II is the working level class in which incumbents are expected to perform the full range of Police Dispatcher duties with minimum supervision and apply sound judgment regarding their scope of authority in dispatching personnel. This classification is distinguished from the Community Service Officer series in that the latter performs duties involving work in taking reports in the field and performing face-to-face public service activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Include but are not limited to the following:

• Receives and enters calls for police, fire and medical service in CAD; dispatches and tracks field units; interprets level of service needed through information obtained from field officers or citizens; coordinates multi-agency responses when necessary; transfers calls to appropriate agencies if warranted.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping in the performance of daily office activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement, and fine coordination in preparing reports and retrieving and entering data using a computer keyboard. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading work related documents and using the computer, and acute hearing is required when providing phone, dispatch and face to face service. The need to lift, drag, and push files, paper, and documents weighing up to 25 pounds also is required.

PARKS, RECREATION AND ARTS COMMISSION

A Parks, Recreation and Arts Commission of the Town of Danville is hereby established.  The Commission shall consist of eight (8) regular members, one (1) of which shall be a Youth Commissioner as defined in Section 2-10.12 of this chapter, and one (1) alternate member, all of whom shall be appointed by the Town Council.

Qualifications

All members shall by experience, training, education, occupation or avocation, have demonstrated knowledge of and interest in park, recreation, cultural, or arts facilities, or leisure and human services.

Term of Office

With the exception of the Youth Commissioner, the term of office of each member of the Commission shall be four (4) years unless otherwise determined by the Town Council. The term of each Youth Commissioner shall be two (2) years. Each member shall serve until their successor is appointed and qualified.

Removal or Vacancy

A member of the Commission may be removed by a majority vote of the Council. A vacancy is filled in the same manner as the original appointment. A person appointed to fill a vacancy serves for the remainder of the unexpired term.

Time and Place of Regular Meeting

The Commission shall hold at least one (1) regular monthly meeting. The Commission shall fix the time and place of its regular meetings by resolution or by-law. Special meetings may be called as necessary. All meetings of the Commission are open to the public and the Commission shall give notice of its meetings as required by law.

No Compensation for Members; Reimbursement of Expenses

Members of the Commission shall not receive compensation for attendance at Commission meetings, but are entitled to reimbursement for expenses incurred in the course of their duties upon approval by the Town Council.

Chair and Vice-Chair

The Commission shall elect a Chair and Vice-Chair from among its members. The Chair and Vice-Chair serve for a term of one (1) year and until the successor of each is elected and qualified.

Adoption of Rules

The Commission shall adopt rules for the transaction of its business and shall keep a public record of its resolutions, transactions, findings and determinations.

Quorum. Four (4) members of the Commission constitute a quorum for the transaction of business.

Duties of Officers of the Commission

 a.   Chair. The Chair shall preside at all meetings of the Commission. The Chair shall appoint all committees and shall perform all the duties necessary or incidental to the office.

b.   Vice-Chair.  The Vice-Chair is Chair in the absence or inability of the Chair to act.

Duties and Powers of the Commission

The Park and Leisure Services Commission shall:

  a.   Be the primary advisory body to the Town Council on acquiring and developing park, recreation, cultural, and arts facilities and providing recreation and arts programs for Town residents;

   b.   Review the Town’s Parks, Recreation and Arts Strategic Plan and recommend steps to implement or revise the Plan as needed;

   c.   Hold public meetings, conduct surveys, and use other reasonable methods to determine community park, recreation, and arts needs and recommend actions to meet those needs to the Town Council;

   d.   Review site plans for public parks, recreation, art, or cultural facilities and recommend plans and specifications to the Town Council for additions and improvements;

   e.   Review and comment on all subdivisions and other development proposals in which land is proposed for dedication, credit for private open space is requested, projects on school lands or other significant park, creek, trail, or open space concerns exist;

   f.   Review and comment on the annual implementation of the Capital Improvement Program;

   g.   Recommend to the Town Council for adoption facility use policies including fees, restrictions, priorities and other concerns and review the adopted policies and fees annually recommending changes as needed.

    h.   Consider improvements to the condition of Town recreation facilities annually; and

    i.   Perform other duties prescribed by the Town Council.

Qualifications and Role of Youth Commissioner

The Town Council shall appoint a Youth Commissioner to serve on the Commission to represent the interests of Danville youth. The Youth Commissioner shall be a Danville resident of high school age. The Youth Commissioner shall have the same obligations and authority of all other commissioners.

Residency Requirements

All members of the Commission shall be residents of the Town of Danville.

Commission Alternate

The Town Council may, at its discretion, appoint one alternate to the Commission. The alternate member of the Commission shall attend all meetings of the Commission. If a regular member of the Commission is absent or required to abstain from all or any part of a Commission meeting, the alternate member shall participate in place of the absent member, with all rights and privileges of a regular member, including the authority to vote on matters before the Commission.

The Town of Hillsborough is seeking highly motivated, positive, and people-oriented candidates for part-time per diem Communications Officer positions in the Police Department. Shift coverage is needed on daytime and overnight shifts. This position is only open to candidates with two or more years of experience as a Public Safety Dispatcher in California in the previous five (5) years.

GENERAL PURPOSE

Under general supervision, receives and transmits routine and emergency telephone and radio traffic;

dispatches and coordinates police, fire, public works and other municipal staff and equipment via multi-frequency two-way radio; maintains and processes a variety of communications reports, records, and radio logs; and does related work as required.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

Communications Officer II

This classification has primary responsibility for staffing the Town’s public safety dispatch communication center. Under most circumstances, the training and experience for this position would occur by having prior experience working for another police department as a Communications Officer for a period of at least two years.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Communications Officer II typically performs, but is not limited to, the duties noted below on a regular basis:

• Receives and handles incoming telephone and voice radio calls for police, fire, ambulance, and public works

• Secures and records information as to exact locations and circumstances using radio or other equipment to dispatch appropriate units to the emergency scene.

• Maintains radio contact with local units on assignment and directs and coordinates with staff from other agencies on a mutual-aid basis, as needed.

• Operates a multi-channel two-way radio, telephones, teletype, office equipment and software systems.

• Performs numerous duties simultaneously.

• Prioritizes calls for service as well as other work-related tasks such as assisting with schedule, monitoring email account or assisting with social media.

• Maintains radio logs and records other information as required.

• Maintains resource files for computer aided dispatch system.

• Serves as trainer to newly hired dispatchers on as needed basis.

• Assist with providing state-mandated training on relevant matters to other department staff, as directed.

The workload will be a balance of assisting in daily municipal operations and special projects. Duties may include, but are not limited to town-wide capital inventory, risk management, citizens’ requests, record management, benchmarking, policy analysis and research.
