The City of Sebastopol is seeking two diligent, energetic, dependable Administrative Technicians, one to serve in the Public Works Department and the other will serve the Building and Community Development departments. The Administrative Technician will perform a variety of technical-level administrative duties in support of an assigned City department or program. Duties may include areas relating to finance, grants, building, planning, public works, engineering, or general support of City operations. The selected candidates will conduct research, collect and analyze data, and prepare draft reports. In addition to tracking and reporting operational statistics, this position provides technical assistance to management.

There are two assignments within the City, one located in Public Works and one in City Hall. The Administrative Technicians will be expected to cross-train as emergency coverage for any department's administrative duties.

For the position assigned to Public Works: The Administrative Technician assigned to Public Works will report to the Director of Public Works/ City Engineer at 714 Johnson Street, Sebastopol, CA 95472. This position will perform clerical duties such as answering phones, providing office support services, and ordering supplies for the department. In addition, the position will manage budget tracking operations that include Springbook reports, invoicing, and project close-outs. The Administrative Technician will oversee contract processing, special event permit processing, and California Department of Industrial Relations(DIR) registrations. The selected candidate will assist in Council agenda reports and in preparing the agenda packets. This position will also serve as the Water Conservation Coordinator, providing news to the public on drought reports and Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions (CC&Rs) within the City.

For the position located in City Hall: The Administrative Technician will report to the City’s Building Official or Community Development Director at City Hall, 7120 Bodega Avenue, Sebastopol, CA 95472. The primary duties of this assignment will serve as the main City contact at the City’s public counter, providing support to the Building and Community Development departments. In, addition to supporting Building and Community Development in all permitting activities, this assignment involves providing administrative and analytical support for the City Clerk, Assistant City Manager and City Manager, serving as staff and support for public meetings, administering the media and public comment for assigned public meetings, tracking and responding to public records act requests, records retention assistance, assisting with records management, transcribing minutes, and updating the City’s website with official documents.

The Novato Sanitary District is seeking an innovative, collaborative, and hands-on public finance leader who is well-versed in managing complex budgets, accounting, and financial systems. This position is under the general direction of the Administrative Services Manager, with strategic direction from the General Manager. The Finance Manager is an at-will, single independent classification within the District.

The Finance Manager position is responsible for directing, managing, and administering District’s financial activities and operations, including accounting, financial planning and reporting, debt issuance, budgeting, treasury and investment portfolio, payroll and benefit administration, financial system management and administration, and implementation and monitoring of internal controls.

The Finance Manager is a practicing accountant in addition to being an organizational architect and member of the Administrative Services team. The City of Sebastopol is looking for a respectful, compassionate, empathetic Police Officer Trainee. The selected candidate must be currently enrolled or enrolled at a future date as a self-sponsored recruit in a certified Peace Officer Standards & Training Council (P.O.S.T.) Police Academy. The Police Officer Trainee is a non-sworn, training-level classification requiring no prior law enforcement experience. The incumbent performs a variety of entry-level police support duties in a learning capacity. The selected candidate will assist and observe Police Officers and civilian police personnel.

The successful candidate will attend the Police Academy to obtain a Basic P.O.S.T. Certificate of Completion, and perform related work which may require public contact but not the enforcement of laws. Police Officer Trainees attend a POST certified Police Academy, which follows a standardized curriculum in order to provide them with basic training in various aspects of policing, many of which are prescribed by law and/or statute.

The Police Academy training is designed to provide the candidate the necessary skillsets to prepare them for consideration for promotion to a probationary Police Officer position within the City and begin the Sebastopol Police Department’s Field Training Officer program. Attendance and successful completion of a Police Academy is a legal requirement to be hired as a Police Officer within the State of California and is a requirement for a City of Sebastopol Police Officer Trainee to be considered for promotion to probationary Police Officer with the City of Sebastopol.

The Novato Sanitary District is seeking a highly motivated, and goal-driven individual to join our Collection System team as a Collection System Worker (CSW). The District will hire at the level of CSW I or CSW II depending on skills, certifications and licenses held by candidates in the pool of qualified applicants. 

The CSW performs a wide variety of tasks associated with the maintenance of wastewater collection and reclamation systems, including inspection, cleaning, maintenance, and repairs on lines, pump stations, and treatment facilities. The successful CSW I candidate will possess experience in general maintenance tasks, including the safe and effective operation of a variety of hand and power tools and equipment. Possession of a commercial driver's license is highly desirable. Experience working with sewer cleaning trucks and equipment is also a plus. The successful CSW II candidate will have three or more years of experience in collection system maintenance. Experience in pump station maintenance is highly desirable.

Facility and Sports Field Attendants work in the formal Suisun City classification of Recreation Specialist I. Starting hourly rate will depend on qualifications. This position works on average 19 hours per week.

The Department: The Recreation, Parks and Marina Department is responsible for the operations and programs of the Suisun City Marina, the Senior Center and the Joseph A. Nelson Center, including preschool, after-school programs at various sites, recreation classes and sports leagues, community events and special event rentals.

The Position: Facility and Sports Field Attendants work behind the scenes making all Recreation and Community Services excel!  This job entails setting up for events and rentals, cleaning the facility and performing light maintenance duties.  We’re looking for highly motivated people with a customer service orientation who genuinely enjoy helping others and who are flexible problem-solvers.
