The Department

The Community Services Department plays a key role in enhancing the community and ensuring the citizens of Fremont receive excellent customer service through the management of recreation facilities, quality recreation and environmental programs, and park planning.

The Position

The Park Ranger/Naturalist will provide information and assistance to the public, as well as enforce laws, rules, regulations, and the Fremont Municipal Code. The primary focus of the position will be to assist with implementing the initiatives of the Homeless Task Force. Additionally, the incumbent may conduct natural resource protection and environmental education programs.

Examples of Job Duties

• Work in prescribed uniform and is responsible for general patrol and supervision of City of Fremont’s parks, plazas and trails.

Occupational Therapist II is the experienced journey level class in this series. Foster City is seeking a well-qualified individual with strong leadership skills to fill the position of Financial Services Manager. They are responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and managing the day-to-day operations of accounts receivable, business license, cash receipts, and utilities. The Financial Services Manager compiles annual City budget and all non-departmental budgets, manages the effective use of division resources to improve organizational productivity and customer service, provides complex and responsible support to the Finance Director in areas of expertise, and performs related work as required.

The position will be an overfill position due to the current incumbent's retirement, pending City Council approval. This position will be filled for training purposes to ensure a smooth transition and continuity of operations allowing the new hire to gain hands-on experience and knowledge before the incumbent's departure. Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed for relevant education, experience, training, and other job related qualifications. Based upon a review of employment applications received, a limited number of the qualified applicants will be invited to participate in the examination process. 

The process will consist of an Oral Panel Interview. An eligibility list will be established from those who pass the examination process with a score of 70% or higher. Maintenance Worker I

Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent GED.

Experience:   One year full-time in semiskilled construction maintenance or landscape maintenance work.

License:  Must possess and maintain a valid Class C California Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record and within six (6) months of hire, must possess and maintain a Class B California Driver’s License with required endorsements.  Those assigned to the Water Division within one (1) year must possess and maintain a Class D-2 Water Distribution Certificate from the California Department of Health Services.  Those assigned to the Collection Division, within one year must possess and maintain a California Water Environment Associations (CWEA) Grade I Collections Certificate.

Physical Requirements:

Vision, hearing, and physical ability adequate to obtain and maintain a California Class B Driver’s License; speak clearly and understandably.  Requires moderate and sometimes strenuous exertion including bending, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing, lifting, twisting, digging, carrying and/or handling material weighing up to one hundred (100) pounds.  Work in confined spaces and wear protective equipment.  May work in conditions that require exposure to noise, odors, chemical and biological agents, gases, and contact with sanitary wastewater; work at heights up to 20 feet; work in varying temperatures of cold and heat, and inclement weather for extended periods of time; work in conditions that may contain dust, mold and various chemicals.

Special Requirements:

DEFINITION

Experience: Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience as a Building Inspector with a Municipal Building Department performing combination inspections.

Licenses: Must possess and maintain a valid Class C California Driver’s License issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles and a satisfactory driving record. Certifications such as Combination Inspector or related are preferred.  

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Physical agility adequate to inspect construction sites. Requires physical flexibility and dexterity, including the ability to continually stand, bend, stoop, reach, and crouch.  Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, hear voices, and operate telephones.  Must have ability to quickly and accurately see, review, and interpret plans and diagrams and make inspections.

THE TRAINEE POSITION:

In addition to using green energy from large-scale wind, solar, geothermal and hydroelectric projects outside of the area, SVP employs innovative ways to locally produce electricity by capturing and burning methane gas from a closed city landfill and using power from solar generating systems on city-owned garages and vacant, unusable land. The Position: 

SVP is seeking Journey Line workers that have the ability to perform routine and emergency work maintaining and expanding SVP’s electric transmission and distribution system, including but not limited to: 
- Perform electrical installation and repair work and to construct and maintain overhead and underground electric distribution and transmission system; 
- Think and act appropriately and quickly in emergencies; 
- Maintain good public relations; 
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; 
- Work from electrical plans and detailed drawings; 
- Input data using computer programs for documenting electric facility maintenance and inspection findings; 
- Effectively train and supervise others; 
- Understand and follow oral and written instructions; 
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationship with those contacted in the course of work, including the general public; 
- Walk or stand for extended periods of time and bend, stoop, reach, carry, crawl, climb, and lift as necessary to perform assigned duties;
- Effectively handle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet strict deadlines; and Work in a team-based environment and achieve common goals.

The annual salary range for this position is $174,855.60 - $223,586.16.  This position may be filled at or near the minimum of the salary range.

Candidates must attain a passing score on each phase of the examination process to qualify for the Eligible List. A department interview may be required prior to appointment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

- Graduation from high school or possession of a G.E.D.; and

- Completion of a recognized three-year apprenticeship program as a Lineworker is required.

LICENSE & CERTIFICATION

- Possession of a valid California Class A Driver's license is required, or

- Possession of a valid California Class C license at the time of appointment and the ability to obtain a California Class A license within six months of employment

- Incumbents in this position are required to become rubber glove certified as a condition of holding the classification of Journey Lineworker within nine (9) months of appointment.

 

SPECIAL CONDITIONS & REQUIREMENTS

- Incumbents of this classification may be required to work outside their regularly scheduled hours, and to be available for emergency and/or pre-arranged work whenever called upon.

- Incumbents of this classification may be subject to drug and/or alcohol testing as mandated by federal regulations.

- Must be able to perform all of the essential functions of the job assignment.
