- VALID CPAT WITHIN 12 MONTHS
- HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE (OR EQUIVALENT)
- CSFM FIRE ACADEMY GRADUATE
- MUST PASS PRE-EMPLOYMENT PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL SCREENING
- MUST HAVE A VALID CPR & EMT LICENSE
COVID POLICY: The City of Hayward has adopted a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all new employees issued formal offers of employment on or after February 1, 2022. Under this policy, proof of full vaccination is required as a condition of initial and continued employment with the City unless the employee has applied for an exemption and is awaiting the City’s response or has been granted an exemption, or unless stricter State or Federal legal requirements apply.
IMPORTANT: The Firefighter Candidate Testing Center’s (FCTC) Written Exam and Statewide Eligibility List and will be used to screen applications. If you are not already on the FCTC Statewide Eligibility List, please make arrangements to take the exam by November 19, 2022 at www.fctconline.org/written-testing/. There is a $50 fee for the FCTC written test.
Under general direction of the Community Development Director and City Manager, supervises and reviews the inspections of residential, commercial, industrial buildings and related structures for compliance to building codes and regulations, recommends code enforcement and building inspection policies to the City Council for adoption, supervises and directs the maintenance, construction, repair and improvements on City buildings and facilities, acts as the City’s Safety Officer; and does other related work as required.
