The Los Gatos Monte Sereno Police Department depends on reliable technology for public safety, investigations, communications, and record-keeping. As the Information Technology Systems Administrator, your work will directly contribute to the safety of our residents and the efficiency of our public services by making sure all systems are stable, secure, and aligned with industry best practices, state and federal data security requirements, and Town policies. You will serve as the cloud security officer for the Police Department and help maintain the Town’s IT infrastructure and the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), as needed. 

This is a hands-on role perfect for a motivated individual who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. We are looking for someone who can communicate effectively with other team members and staff and work independently with little supervision.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Administer, monitor, and maintain servers, networks, workstations, storage, and related infrastructure for the Police Department and the wider Town technology environment.
• Implement and enforce security measures, patching, vulnerability management, backup and recovery, disaster planning.
• Install, configure, and support law enforcement software applications and systems such as:
  • Body-worn cameras 
  • In-car mobile audio video systems 
  • Automated license plate readers
  • Mobile data computers
  • Portable and mobile radios and handheld communication devices
  • Computer aided dispatch (CAD)
  • Records management systems (RMS)
  • Mobile data, mapping, evidence technology systems and audio and video storage technology
  • Associated mobility VPN management, wireless connections for video and data transfer, cellular data connections
• Ensure the connections to CLETS, SLETS, California Department of Justice, Sheriff’s Office, ECOMM, SVDPS meet the DOJ requirements for data security.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues; perform root-cause analysis.
• Maintain user accounts, permissions, authentication, and access control in line with department and Town policies.
• Ensure documentation, policies, and standard operating procedures are updated and followed.

• Provide technical support, both remotely and on-site, including diagnosing and resolving hardware, software and network issues.
• Plan, test, and implement system upgrades, patches, and enhancements.
• Assist with or lead procurement, installation, configuration, and maintenance of IT hardware and software.

• Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot servers, networks, workstations, and other IT infrastructure used by the Police Department and other Town departments.
• Serve as a member of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Team responsible for developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and troubleshooting all aspects of EOC technology.
• Coordinate with and manage external vendors for system upgrades, maintenance, and new technology rollouts.
• Assist with or lead technology projects from conception to implementation.

About The Position

We are seeking highly motivated, highly skilled, innovative and enthusiastic individuals to join the Recreation and Human Services Division with the City of Half Moon Bay.  As a critical member of this team you’ll be responsible for assisting in organizing and conducting a variety of recreation programs and activities.

You will report to the Recreation Supervisor and work alongside the Recreation Leader and other Building Attendants.  You will have the opportunity to work in a beautiful community and a tremendous opportunity to build and expand on the organizational and community success that has transformed the City over the past several years.   

What You Will Do

• Open, secure and close City facilities.
• Arrange chairs, tables and other equipment for events held at City facilities.
• Arrange audio system and room set-up for City Council, Planning Commission and Recreation Committee meetings.
• Monitor activities during the facility rentals and other facility usage including monitoring the time of access and departure of the group, monitoring set up and clean up quality provided by the group to ensure that department standards are met. Inspect facilities after usage ends. 
• Accept and file facility rental paperwork and drop in fees. 
• Provide customer service in person or by phone by orienting users, answering questions and resolving problems.
• Enforce department rules including facility rental policies.
• Communicate with the community in both English and Spanish (preferred).
• Work evenings and weekends as needed. 
• Perform related duties as assigned.

What You Bring

Sufficient education and experience to satisfactorily perform the duties of this classification. Knowing that any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. Such as:

Building Attendant I: Possession of a High School Diploma, or equivalent, and no experience working in a recreation setting.  Experience working in a recreation setting can substitute for the diploma or equivalent.

Building Attendant II: Possession of a High School Diploma, or equivalent; and two (2) year’s paid or unpaid work experience, or two (2) years of experience equivalent to the level of Building Attendant I.

Building Attendant III:  Possession of a High School Diploma, or equivalent; and four (4) year’s paid or unpaid work experience, or four (4) years of recreation leadership experience equivalent to the level of Building Attendant I.

Knowledge of:

• Basic mathematical functions.
• Equipment, facilities, operations and techniques used in a comprehensive community recreation program.
• Modern computer equipment and Microsoft Office suite programs and browsers.

Skill to:

• Set up audio and video systems and other devices as needed.

Physical Demands

The ability to maintain effective audio/visual discrimination and perception to the degree necessary for the successful performance of assigned. The ability to move tables, chairs, and equipment; lift equipment and supplies from 5 to 50 lbs. in weight is required.

Working Conditions

This position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities.  The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in preparing statistical reports and data using a computer keyboard.  Additionally, the position requires near vision in reading correspondence, statistical data and using a computer, and acute hearing is required when providing phone service and communicating in person.

Under direct supervision, the Assistant Electric Utility Engineer performs a variety of entry-level professional electric utility engineering field and office work in Electric system planning, electric system design, construction and/or maintenance programs.  SVP invites applications from dynamic and innovative qualified candidates for an entry level engineering position. Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Education/Experience Requirements: 

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with: 
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering from a college or university that is accredited by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET).

• • Possession of a State of California Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T.) Certificate and at least 1 year of experience in electrical or mechanical engineering office and/or field work, and Experience using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Mathlab).

Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is required at time of appointment and for the duration of employment.

Role description

Under general supervision, operates, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs a wide variety of pumping, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration and auxiliary plant machinery and equipment in a large complex or multi-faceted facility. Ensures that all equipment, machinery and systems are functioning normally and safely, and complies with all applicable safety rules and regulations. The incumbent will either be assigned to work in the world class historic Cable Car Barn or the Mechanical Systems Program which manages SFMTA’s subway system, this includes the recently completed Central Subway extension project.

*Different shifts at the Mechanical Systems Program (MSP), various Subway Stations, and Cable Car (CC) Building, at 1201 Mason Street, San Francisco, CA 94108. Initial trainings may occur in shifts different than those listed below:

1. Transit CC (Grave, SUN-THU, 21:00-05:00 / 9:00pm-5:00am)
2. Transit CC (Grave, THU-MON, 21:00-05:00 / 9:00pm-5:00am)
3. Transit MSP (Grave, MON-FRI, 22:00-06:00 / 10:00pm-6:00am)

Essential functions of the class include:

• Operates, maintains and repairs a wide variety of pumping, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration, and power generating equipment in a large complex or multi-faceted facility to ensure the safe, correct and efficient functioning of the facility and equipment may be required to operate computerized building management systems, preventative or predictive maintenance computer systems or Computerized Data Gathering System (SCADA).
• Inspects and tests: machinery and equipment for safe, efficient and proper operation by visual and audio inspection during walk-throughs and by standard monitoring; fire prevention equipment to ensure safe and proper functionality; water storage and multiple distribution systems, high pressure zones, wood and steel storage tanks, pumps and relief valves, and samples of water.
• Makes entries and keeps records on shift operation by taking and entering gauge readings and accurate water laboratory analysis readings and temperatures on operating log sheets or into a computer data system to ensure preventative maintenance and equipment history; and changes charts and recordings accordingly.
• Receives, records and stores large amounts of treatment chemicals and may handle hazardous chemicals in confined or enclosed areas; must be capable of safely and properly handling chemical spills; may also include handling and treatment of industrial or hazardous waste.
• Contacts, communicates and is required to deal with contractors, building tenants and/or the general public in order to be able to discharge assigned duties.
• Maintains keys, communications equipment, and security (in the absence of Security Personnel), in order to ensure the security of a plant and buildings and grounds, including public safety. As part of an emergency response team, recognizes, evaluates, and responds to potentially hazardous situations.
• Performs control tests on water samples to determine chlorine and fluoride residual, pH, alkalinity, turbidity, color, saturation index and flocculation factors; under supervision, conducts water analysis and regulates treatment chemical dosages to maintain water quality in filtration plant, distribution system, or other large complex facility may also be required to perform water analysis on water/wastewater as required by the State of California; performs boiler water and cooling tower chemical tests, including pH, alkalinity TDS, etc., to monitor and control growth of organisms in water.
• Performs related duties as required.

Nature of work
Involves physical effort in the repair and maintenance of machinery and equipment; the ability to lift heavy objects; exposure to working conditions where minor abrasions, bruises, and burns may occur; occasional uncomfortable work inside closed and dirty spaces; exposure to potential uncomfortable weather conditions and traffic conditions; and requires physical stamina to stand, stoop, bend and climb ladders while working in confined spaces, entryways and tight crawl spaces.  Some positions may also require the ability to operate both automatic and manual automobile transmission as needed. Employees may be required to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays, and a shift of up to 12 hours.

How to qualify

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Four (4) years of verified journey-level stationary engineer experience in the maintenance, repair and operation of a variety of mechanical and electrical pumping, heating, air conditioning, ventilating and related plant machinery used in a government establishment, hospital, industrial, production or commercial building; AND

2. Possession of a valid California Driver’s License; AND

3. Possession at time of hire a Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) certificate issued by the Federal Environmental Protection Agency.

Substitution: (Any of the following may be substituted for the required experience)

• Completion of a recognized four-year Stationary Engineer apprenticeship program
• Graduation from a recognized four-year Maritime Academy with a degree in engineering or technology
• Possession of at least a 3rd Assistant Marine Engineer's License of any (unrestricted) horsepower

Medical Examination/Drug Testing:
Candidates who are being considered for appointment for positions may be required to pass a medical examination. The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) has determined that Class 7334 Stationary Engineer is a “safety-sensitive” position, under regulations issued by the Federal Transit Administration (49 CFR Part 655). Federal law requires that all transit employees who perform safety-sensitive functions be subject to random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, return-to-duty and follow-up drug and alcohol testing. All applicants for Safety-Sensitive positions shall undergo urine drug testing prior to employment and within 90 days prior to performing Safety-Sensitive functions for the first time. Receipt by the SFMTA of a negative test result is required prior to the employee being placed on the payroll. A positive, adulterated, negative dilute or substituted test will result in a decision not to hire, and the applicant’s name will be removed from the list of eligibles for Safety-Sensitive positions. The SFMTA will not consider hiring any person who tested positive, adulterated, substituted or refused to submit to testing for a minimum of two years following the positive test.

Possession of and ability to maintain a valid California Driver’s License.

Possession of a POST (Peace Officer Standards & Training) written examination certificate with a preferred T-Score of 52 or above and a passing score for the WSTB physical agility examination. Or possession of a National Testing Network Law Enforcement written examination certificate with a preferred score in the 90th percentile and a passing score for the WSTB physical agility examination.

 

Necessary Special Qualifications:

Free of any felony convictions.

Effective January 1, 2023, peace officers must be legally authorized to work in the United States under federal law. There are no specific citizenship requirements per Senate Bill 2. California Government Code Section 1031(h) limits employment authorization documents to those consistent with Section 274a.2 of Title 8 of the Code of Federal Regulations. The Position:

This is a non-sworn classification structured for incumbents hired for the purpose of becoming a sworn police officer.  Police Officer Trainees are hired into this civilian position for the period prior and during the time they are assigned to a POST-certified Basic Law Enforcement Academy.  Upon successful completion of training at the academy and upon the availability of a Police Officer position, Police Officer Trainees are sworn in and appointed to the classification of Police Officer.  Police Officer Trainee benefits are limited to those of a civilian employee.

This recruitment is to fill a vacancy in our Wastewater Treatment Plant Division. If selected for our Wastewater Division, you will be working with our Collections division where they focus on conveying wastewater to the treatment plant by cleaning, inspecting, repairing, and other pipeline maintenance tasks.
