THE POSITION

The PTCO position in the DOT Parking Compliance Unit is responsible for:

• Patrolling assigned areas within the City limits and responding to complaints for illegally parked motor vehicles for the purpose of enforcing motor vehicle, roadway, garage and surface lot parking laws and regulations.
• Supports school safety and vehicle abatement programs
• Provides tow support for construction or street maintenance projects. 
• Provides vehicular and pedestrian traffic control during construction projects and special events within the City.
• Provide education and information about parking laws and regulations
• Participates in community outreach activities.
• Patrol coverage areas without a partner by walking or driving
• Work alternate work shifts, including grave and swing, weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call.

The responsibilities of the City Attorney's Office consist of representing and advising the City Council and all City officers in all matters of law pertaining to their offices, representing and appearing on behalf of the City in all legal actions or proceedings, providing the City Council with information and advice regarding ongoing litigation and legislation affecting the City, and staffing City Council meetings and City boards and commission meetings as necessary. The City Attorney's Office provides legal advice and support on matters initiated by the City Council, City Manager's Office, and City departments, including review and negotiation of contracts, leases, licenses, policies, and Public Records Act requests responses.

The Office consists of eight attorneys and a Risk Manager, who are supported by a full time Legal Executive Assistant and Legal Office Specialist (recently added in the FY 25-26 budget), as well as a part time Office Assistant.

The Position: 

The Legal Executive Assistant position is in the City Attorney’s Office and provides support to the City’s attorneys, as well as the Risk Manager.  This is a critical administrative support role in the City Attorney’s Office that is responsible for assisting with a wide variety of legal documents, processes and procedures. The ideal candidate should possess a high level of confidentiality, communication skills, tact and discretion, and be able to manage and track multiple projects for multiple attorneys simultaneously.  

The Legal Executive Assistant is distinguished from other classes in the administrative support series in that the incumbent provides responsible, confidential, administrative support services for the City Attorney and other attorneys in the Office. The job involves working with individuals, activities, and issues with which the City Attorney’s Office is involved and requires daily contact with a cross-section of government, community, and public and private officials, as well as individual members of the community. The incumbent must be able to handle non-partisan confidential matters with a high level of judgment.

As a member of the City's Unclassified Service, this is an "at-will" position and the incumbent serves at the discretion of the City Manager.

The Department:

The Finance Department administers the financial affairs of the City of Santa Clara, including City-owned public utilities. The Position: 

The Finance Department is seeking to recruit a Senior Management Analyst in the Accounting Division to support personnel management, general accounting, and accounts payable. The Senior Management Analyst will also be involved in the financial analysis of special grants and fund accounting and prepare periodic and annual reports for the City, its Agencies and Corporations, and the annual State Controller Reports. The incumbent would be a contributor of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report which includes Management’s Discussion and Analysis (MD&A), basic financial statements including notes, and supplementary information.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong accounting background and possess a bachelor's degree in a related field. This position will be required to perform high-level technical support and complex financial analysis related to accounting. Responsibilities

• Manage professional, technical, clerical, and other lower level staff to include, prioritizing and assigning work; conduct performance evaluations; provide training; and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations. Evaluates training needs and workload balance for staff and prepares plan for implementation.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience

Desirable Qualifications

A Master's degree in Public or Business Administration or closely related field is desirable.

As part of the Engineering Services Division, Survey Section of the Public Works Department is responsible for delivering land surveying services on a variety of City projects including street widening/improvements, storm and sanitary facilities, library/community center/fire station sites, and airfield projects. These land surveying services include, but are not limited to the following:  topography, property acquisition, construction staking, pavement marking layout, and monument preservation. 

The Survey Section is currently recruiting to fill two (2) Instrument Person vacancies. An Instrument Person performs a variety of sub-professional surveying and engineering functions of moderate difficulty either on a survey crew in the field or in the Survey Section office. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:  

• Acts as instrument person on a survey party. 

• Records field notes and prepares maps and sketches from survey data. 

• Sets up, adjusts, and operates all types of survey instruments. 

• Provides lead direction and training to other survey personnel. 

• Uses modern, survey-grade Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment. 

• Calculates grades and enters data into field books. 

• Turns angles and extends horizontal line using a total station. 

• Uses the level to obtain vertical control. 

• Uses the level, total station, rod, targets to perform topographic surveying in order to describe the existing features of a piece of land in order that it may be reproduced as a plan map. 

• Locates survey points by measurement, magnetometer and from maps of former surveys. 

• Assist with transferring electronic field data to a PC workstation, processing and interpreting the data, and checking for errors. 

• Assists with producing high-quality, computer-generated topography maps and tables using sophisticated engineering software. 

This is the journey level class in a four class surveying series. This class differs from the next higher class of Survey Party Chief in that incumbents of the latter perform sub-professional surveying work and are usually responsible for completing only a segment of a surveying program or project.

The Department

The South San Francisco Public Library is a full-service library committed to delivering quality services to a diverse community.  Library services are available at three sites, including the Main Library (901 Civic Campus Way), the Grand Avenue Library (306 Walnut Avenue) and the Gene Mullin Community Learning Center (520 Tamarack Lane).  Lifelong literacy services are provided by Project Read at the Main Library and the Gene Mullin Community Learning Center (GMCLC). 

The Position

This position manages core library literacy services over several program areas that include one-on-one adult tutoring, ESL, Computer and Citizenship instruction and programs, family literacy outreach and activities including our early literacy outreach van, afterschool homework program for a local Title I school, and literacy programs that cross many interest areas such as computer literacy, civic literacy, financial literacy.  Library literacy services are based out of the SSF Main Library and the Gene Mullin Community Learning Center and are embedded in general library services, supporting community members in their reading, learning, civic engagement and personal literacy goals.

Under general supervision, this Facility Repair Worker will perform a wide variety of semi-skilled work in the repair of buildings and equipment at San José City Hall. 

Salary range for this classification is $77,355.20 - $94,036.80 annually. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience.  

This Facility Repair Worker position will be stationed at San José City Hall. City Hall is an 18-story high-rise structure which adds maintenance and operational challenges. In addition to the typical duties of a Facility Repair Worker, the successful candidate will maintain the potable/reclaimed water systems, learn how to maintain pressure variances in the systems, operate and maintain a large water feature/fountain on site, and work in high locations utilizing a scissor-lift and ReachMaster® 138 ft. boom lift. City Hall houses the upper management of most of the city departments, as well as the Mayor and City Council Offices. The ability to work in a politically sensitive environment is essential. 

Other duties of this position include, but are not limited to: 

• Proactive maintenance of roofs and roof water drainage systems; 

• Ability to install and modify office space cubicles, including ergonomic adjustments; 

• Skilled at painting techniques and proper cleanup for small and larger surfaces, including graffiti removal; 

• Perform drywall repair; 

• Experienced in maintaining and repairing various plumbing fixtures and resolving plumbing issues (clogs, drainage, flushometer repair, piping work, mixing valve repairs, sink and faucet repairs); 

• Monthly inspections of fire sprinkler systems and pumps; 

• Flooring repair, including carpet and tile work; 

• Familiarity with fire control panels; 

• Experience in motors, pumps, and other architectural water feature infrastructure; 

• Knowledge of fundamental provisions of various codes related to the maintenance and repair of facilities; 

• Knowledge and experience related to door and lock repair and replacement work, which include electronic access control door hardware and door operators;   

• Ability to draw sketches and plans for assigned projects, estimate the materials needed, and record keeping; 

• Maintain all work order details, status updates, labor applied, and contractor costs in City’s work order database.

As the Senior Engineer, you will help us plan, design, and build infrastructure to support the City goals and objectives of creating a more sustainable, healthy, and livable Sunnyvale. Ideal candidates will have both strong project/program management skills and the ability to effectively and efficiently communicate and build relationships.
  
The current open position is in the Department of Public Works Engineering Division and is with the design team in the Project Administration Section. Senior Engineers are working managers. The position primarily works on managing design of a wide variety of capital improvement projects, possibly including pavement rehabilitation, parks renovation and enhancements, or water and sewer utility projects. The position oversees consultants and leads a team of other City engineering staff.

The eligibility list created from this recruitment may be used for future Senior Engineer vacancies within the City.

Minimum Qualifications

Education/Experience

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a related field, AND

Five years of increasingly responsible professional civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering experience, depending on assignment, including experience in a supervisory or project management role.

Licenses/Certificates

Possession of registration as a professional civil or structural engineer issued by the State of California.
