The City of Auburn is looking for an Administrative Services Technician, a unique role where you'll contribute equally to our Finance and Human Resources departments!

 

ABOUT THE POSITION

We're seeking a detail-oriented and adaptable professional to make an immediate impact. Your time will be split equally between the two departments, with a primary focus on payroll processing. Beyond that, this role offers a variety of technical and paraprofessional work, including accounts payable and receivable, accounting, cash handling, budget, benefits administration, recruitment, customer service and other essential technical-level functions.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

A paraprofessional classification requiring specialized administrative and technical skills to perform semi-complex, administrative, support and confidential duties. The role is distinguished from lower classifications by its scope of work and requirements for specialized training and technical proficiency. This classification performs recurring tasks and solves problems independently under general supervision from the department director or assigned supervisor, and does not exercise supervision over staff.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES

The following duties are typical for this classification. Actual work may vary based on department needs or change due to evolving business practices.

• Perform  a varied range of administrative, operational and technical tasks supporting assigned programs and functions.
• Maintain accurate financial, human resources, and administrative records and data within various computer systems, including data entry, report generation, and resolving discrepancies.
• Participate in the implementation and testing of new technology systems and process improvements.
• Handle inquiries, provide information, offer technical information and guidance on procedures, rules and regulations to internal and external customers.
• Provide administrative support to department management and staff, including research, processing, and preparing reports, correspondence, and written materials.
• Maintain professional and courteous interactions with all contacts.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Finance Duties:

• Participate in core finance processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, license and permit fee collection, and general financial transaction processing.
• Process and record financial transactions related to payroll and benefits, prepare related tax forms (e.g. 1099 and W2), and fee/levy data for tax rolls.
• Assist with budget preparation and monitoring, financial reporting, external auditor inquiries, and the review/approval of purchase requisitions.
• Participate in the implementation and adherence to Government Accounting Standards Board requirements and statements.
• Maintain financial and accounting records and data within systems, reconcile accounts, identify and resolve discrepancies, and prepare related reports.

Human Resources Duties:

• Participate in various functions supporting payroll, recruitment, benefits administration, leaves and other human resources functions.
• Participate in processing payroll including changes to wages, positions, benefits, leaves of absence, and related.
• Assist with benefits administration including processing forms, enrollments and changes, assisting employees, and responding to vendor inquiries.
• Intake and assist with worker’s compensation and insurance claim documentation.
• Apply personnel rules, MOUs, and relevant regulations to HR and payroll tasks, and assist with ensuring compliance, and maintain confidentiality of sensitive personnel and management information.

The City of Dixon is looking to fill one full-time, regular position of Accountant in the Finance Department. This position performs professional level accounting functions such as recording and reporting financial transactions, review of financial records; provides fiscal control for assigned areas of operation, preparation of financial report statements and analyzes. This is not a remote position and work schedule will be Monday through Friday, onsite.

Accountant - This classification is the entry level, mid-management position in the accounting series. Professional level work is performed, and incumbents are expected to perform the full range of accounting duties with minimal supervision. Successful performance in this position requires a thorough knowledge of governmental accounting procedures and the ability to exercise sound judgement within established guidelines.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

The Senior Human Resources Analyst is a professional level class in which the incumbent is expected to perform a wide range of the most complex human resources activities.  As the advanced journey level classification within the Human Resources Analyst series, positions at this level are distinguished from other classes within the series by the greater level of responsibility assumed, complexity of duties assigned, independence of action taken and by the nature, scope and impact of the work performed.  Employees perform the most difficult, confidential and advanced level type of duties assigned to classes within the series, which may include providing direct supervision over assigned personnel and performing complex professional analytical work in support of internal and external customers with sound judgement and minimal supervision.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Supports the Human Resources Director with monitoring compliance of the Department’s various programs with applicable laws, guidelines and regulations; tracks and analyzes proposed legislation to determine impact on human resources operations and programs; researches, develops and proposes updates to, and/or establishment of new, City policies, administrative regulations and personnel rules.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, and squatting in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in preparing reports using a computer keyboard. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading written reports and work related documents. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal service. Additionally, the incumbent in this position may work in all weather conditions including wet, hot and cold. The need to lift, drag and push files, paper and documents weighing up to 25 pounds is also required.

The Watershed Planning Project Manager (Class: Project Analyst II or Project Analyst III) will manage projects related to urban river restoration, public access, and open space conservation, master planning, and park development, including design and construction of new park amenities, creation of parkland in urban neighborhoods, renovation of infrastructure and buildings, acquisition of land, and planning in a watershed context. Capital projects include renovation of existing facilities, new construction by contractors and force account, and fee acquisition of land interests.

This is professional and technical work pursuant to the terms of grants, contracts, and applicable regulations, involving frequent communication with others, for a flexible person at an intermediate level. Project managers must also build community and political support, seek funding opportunities, actively cooperate with other government agencies and non-profit organizations, and keep abreast of related planning processes. The work performed will support MRCA’s capital Workprogram for improvements, land acquisition, and major maintenance projects in nature parks within greater Los Angeles, and other MRCA efforts related to public access, open space conservation, habitat restoration, and urban park development.

This is a full-time, non-exempt, at-will position.

Supervision

This position may report to the Chief of Watershed Planning, Chief of Park Development, or other Executive-level staff depending on MRCA's needs. Assorted tasks may be supervised by Executive Staff and may include participation in multi-division teams. The position supervises no other staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.

• Implement multiple projects simultaneously: The project manager is the central point of contact on all issues concerning assigned projects and will be responsible for project quality. Perform project tracking, scheduling, and budget management.
• Analyze various planning documents and processes for consistency and impacts on MRCA's watershed planning priorities. Write formal comment letters and informal memoranda.
• Participate in planning processes related to the Los Angeles River and other local watersheds, at both regional and individual project scales.
• Identify potential projects and assess feasibility.
• Write and coordinate grant proposals and research new funding opportunities for land acquisition, park development, and related planning efforts.
• Oversee consultants and contractors, manage contracts, coordinate project team and collaborate with coworkers to ensure that the project scope is completed according to grant agreements, schedules, and cost limits. Assist in selection of consultants/contractors.
• Determine project scope, options, and alternatives to overcome constraints. Revise as often as needed to address unexpected conditions.
• Perform day-to-day administration of grants, prepare required reports and ensure conformance with grant agreements.
• Cooperate with other team members to accomplish project goals.
• Produce written materials including staff reports, text for publication, proposals, progress reports, and a variety of other documents.

Depending on the MRCA's needs, park development may be emphasized in the specific job duties, including:

• Assist with coordination of construction. Achieve budget goals by monitoring vendor costs, change orders, and material and supply costs.
• Coordinate as needed with Construction Supervisors to monitor progress of in-house staff (force account).
• Manage the CEQA compliance process for potential projects.

Depending on the MRCA's needs, management of maintenance funding sources may be emphasized in the specific job duties, including:

• Analyze proposed expenses for eligibility and determine appropriate funding sources for expenses.
• Assist with budget development and monitoring for multiple locations and funds.
• Liaison frequently between operations and maintenance staff and finance staff to ensure smooth administrative processes.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position, occasionally move about inside the office to access supplies and office machinery, frequently communicate and exchange information, review handwritten, electronic and facsimile documents, observe site conditions, and operate a computer and other office productivity machinery. The employee must occasionally move items weighing up to 20 pounds inside the office.

Required Hours and Location

Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week with some scheduling flexibility. Occasional overtime work in evenings or weekends upon prior approval by supervisor. The position will work out of the Los Angeles River Center and Gardens but may be required to travel to various other locations. Offices at the River Center are spread among multiple buildings and floors. Remote working or a hybrid schedule may be allowed, subject to supervisor approval.

Public Contact

As public parklands, the majority of MRCA properties are open to the general public during operating hours. This position is likely to have physical contact with members of the public in public areas such as parking lots and shared public/office restrooms and during in-person public meetings. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

COMPENSATION

Wages

The range of hourly rates for a Project Analyst II is $27.27 to $33.15.

The range of hourly rates for a Project Analyst III is $30.57 to $37.15.

Classification Level

The selected candidate may be hired as a Project Analyst II or Project Analyst III, depending on experience. A Project Analyst II will perform the functions with a moderate level of supervision, making some judgments independently, and regular check-ins for guidance and task prioritization. A Project Analyst III will perform the functions with a low level of supervision and less frequent check-ins to verify tasks and decision support. A Project Analyst III shall have the ability to advance into a team leadership role and determine project direction.

POSITION

To respond to fire alarms, medical emergency, and other emergency activities in the protection of life and property; and to participate in fire prevention, training and station and equipment maintenance activities.  The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current vacancy in the Woodland Fire Department (WFD), as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The following are typical illustrations of duties encompassed by the job class, not an all-inclusive or limiting list:

• Respond to fire alarms with assigned company; lay and connect hose lines; hold nozzles and direct water streams; raise and climb ladders.
• Perform rescue operations in a variety of situations including but not limited to rescuing persons from areas threatened by fire, hazardous conditions, confined space, and active shooter/rescue task force events.
• Provide basic life support during medical incidents, assessing and initiating patient care until relieved by proper medical personnel.
• Operate all types of portable fire extinguishers, hand tools, hose lines, power tools and appliances, salvage covers, forcible entry tools, emergency medical equipment and other rescue equipment.
• Participate in fire drills; serve as instructor as assigned; attend training sessions.
• Promote and maintain safety in the workplace.
• Work cooperatively with others as integral part of a team.
• Follow chain of command and be responsive to orders.
• Regular, predictable, consistent and timely attendance is an essential function of the position, in that Employee must be present and fit for duty.

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

• Respond to hazardous materials incidents and participate as member of the County Hazardous Materials Team. Shut down natural gas and electrical services to structure.
• Participate in fire inspection activities and other fire prevention, community risk reduction, and public education activities as assigned.
• Ensure that businesses are operating in compliance with the fire code.
• Participate in the programs providing various public relations services, including facility tours, public education seminars and other public events.
• Respond to inquiries from the public.
• Assist in investigating fire origin and cause.
• May be requested to respond to emergencies during non-duty hours. 
• Control traffic.
• Inventory supplies; maintain records.
• Can serve as “acting positions” when certified.
• Clean station quarters and equipment and maintain a clean and orderly condition in and about the fire station; perform minor building maintenance.
• Operate radio and communications equipment.
• Assist in overhaul and salvage operations.
• Learn a wide variety of firefighting duties, methods, and procedures including the operation of firefighting apparatus, equipment, and tools.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent.  College-level coursework in fire science, general management, or related field is desirable.
• Proof of completion of accredited Firefighter Academy

Experience:

• Possession of at least three (3) years of full-time work experience with a municipal fire agency, including current employment in good standing.  Exceptions may be considered for those in lay-off status if deemed not for cause.

 

License or Certificate:

Required Upon Hire:

• Proof of valid Candidate Physical Ability Test (valid for one year from issuance date).

Required Upon Hire and Continued Employment:

• Valid California Commercial Driver License (Class A or B), or Class C w/FF endorsement
• Emergency Medical Technician Certificate

The Dixon Fire Department is opening their Firefighter/Paramedic Recruit position for someone to attend the Fire Academy in January 2026. The "Firefighter/Paramedic Recruit" is an entry-level classification designed for recruits with a current paramedic license to gain firefighting, fire rescue, and fire prevention skills and training necessary through an accredited Fire Academy. Training may include firefighting techniques and procedures; emergency medical training; technical rescue and hazardous materials training.
