Under general supervision of the Construction Inspection Manager, this Assistant Engineering Technician position performs routine technical office and field engineering functions in connection with public works activities.  The current vacancy exists in the Construction Inspection Section of the Engineering Division. 

 

Examples of duties include:

• Performs field inspections of public works projects, developments, and activities requiring permits and inspection
• Inspects grading, underground utilities, City water mains, sewers, storm drains, curbs, gutters, paving, irrigation systems, street lights, and other infrastructure construction for conformance with regulatory standards, plans, and specifications
• Maintains daily written records of progress made in construction and materials used
• Assists in the preparation of progress payments and writing of change orders
• Performs other contract administration duties on routine public works projects

 

 

We are seeking two outgoing and community-oriented individuals to join our Public Works department as temporary, part-time and/or substitute Crossing Guards. This rewarding and impactful position safely assists school children in crossing busy intersections by halting vehicles through the use of mechanical signals and/or hand-held stop signs; maintains order among children waiting to cross the street at street crossing points; permits street crossing only when safe to do so; reports the license numbers of vehicles violating school crosswalk-related traffic laws to Community Services management personnel or the Simi Valley Police Department; and, instills an awareness in school children of safety measures necessary for safe street crossing. 

Pay rate for this position is $16.50 hourly

• Must be 18 years of age or older, have open availability, and be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

• Must possess good hearing ability across a frequency range from 500 Hz to 3,000 Hz. Hearing levels meeting these requirements in the better ear either with or without a hearing aid will be acceptable. The City of San José Information Technology Department (ITD) seeks a Cybersecurity Analyst (Enterprise Supervising Technology Analyst) to support new and existing initiatives in the Cybersecurity Office. The position will focus on Risk Mitigation as well as Identity & Access Management with exposure and support on all aspects of the Cybersecurity practice, including cross-support.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position, occasionally move about inside the office to access supplies and office machinery, frequently communicate and exchange information, review handwritten, electronic and facsimile documents, and operate a computer and other office productivity machinery. THE POSITION

About the Position

The City of San Carlos is seeking a full-time Associate Engineer in our Public Works Department. This position performs professional and technical civil engineering work in support of the City’s public works and private development projects. Responsibilities will range from simpler projects and to more complex ones. Employees in this job class provide general engineering support and direction to a variety of public and private projects. Projects worked on may include civil works projects including: roads, drainage, grading, buildings, water and wastewater pipelines and treatment facilities, tanks, generators, parks and landscaping, bike paths, environmental mitigation and other related subjects.

 

The Associate Engineer is distinguished from the Assistant Engineer by the level of experience in the field of municipal engineering and the level of job knowledge.  This is a more specialized class wherein incumbents are charged with performing a wide variety of complex engineering assignments and having a much broader range of knowledge, skills and abilities.

 

Employees in this classification work under general supervision of the Principal Engineer.
