Infrastructure Services Unit (Position Code 27) 

Valley Water Telework Program: Eligibility for telework will depend on the type of work performed, operational needs, and the ability for the employee to perform the essential functions of their job duties while teleworking. Imported Water Unit (Position Code 385)

The Department: 

The Purchasing Division resides in the City's Finance Department and maintains a "centralized purchasing system" that is responsible for all purchasing and contracting activity for supplies, materials, and equipment as well as general and professional services.  The Division also operates a Central Warehouse, with over 3,000 inventory items primarily to support the City's utility departments (Silicon Valley Power and the Water and Sewer Departments). The Division is also responsible for the disposition of surplus property and the City mailroom.

The Division will soon expand its warehouse operations with the opening of a second warehouse to support Silicon Valley Power’s infrastructure projects. This recruitment is to fill the Chief Storekeeper position that will manage operations at the current central warehouse, as the incumbent Chief Storekeeper will be transitioning over to the new warehouse.

The Chief Storekeeper is a classified position responsible for overseeing day-to-day warehouse operations, including:

The Position

The Multipurpose Senior Service Program (MSSP) Case Manager will perform professional and clinical social work tasks and duties for older adults living with complex medical conditions to assist them to obtain optimum health, financial, and/or social services. The Department

The Community Services Department plays a key role in enhancing the community and ensuring the citizens of Fremont receive excellent customer service through the management of recreation facilities, quality recreation and environmental programs, and park planning.

The Position

The Park Ranger/Naturalist will provide information and assistance to the public, as well as enforce laws, rules, regulations, and the Fremont Municipal Code. The primary focus of the position will be to assist with implementing the initiatives of the Homeless Task Force. Additionally, the incumbent may conduct natural resource protection and environmental education programs.

• Performs construction related inspection, which includes installation and compaction of pipe, erosion, checking construction work against specifications and drawings, monitoring traffic flow, and checking existing facilities.
• Reviews drawings, maps, plans, and specifications for maintenance projects, capital improvement projects, and private projects.
• Performs field inspection of lateral connection and tests.
• Recommends field changes on construction work.
• Assists in preparation of progress payments.
• Prepares and maintains necessary records and reports.
• Performs field measurements, calculations, and sketches.
• Assists in the design of plans and specifications.
• Prepares "As Built" plans for construction activities.
• Assists in the updates and maintaining databases; performs field work in order to check discrepancies in computer data, and document existing conditions.
• Performs survey and layout for construction projects.
• Performs related duties as required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE  

• Equivalent to AA degree with specialization in civil engineering or construction management (additional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis up to a total of two years) AND 
• Two (2) years of responsible engineering inspection or administrative construction experience is required.  Municipal sewer inspection experience is highly desirable.
• Valid California Driver's License
