The County of Marin seeks an experienced, motivated leader to manage the Facilities Capital Projects Division and partner with stakeholders in the delivery of high-profile projects at County buildings. This position oversees a major division within the Public Works Department with management responsibilities over facilities capital improvement planning and programming, project development, and preparation and oversight of the division’s operating and capital budgets. The Facilities Capital Projects Division is comprised of ten accomplished project managers, architects, and support staff that develop a wide variety of facilities projects from the planning phase through design, permitting and construction.

The Facilities Capital Projects Division Manager will join the County during an exciting time of growth and development. The next division manager will have the opportunity to leave a long-lasting positive impact on the community by leading the design and construction of major facilities projects to support the delivery of County services. Overview:

Are you an experienced Vegetation Maintenance professional with five or more years of experience and a valid Class A driver’s license? If so, we encourage you to consider this opportunity with Valley Water.

Maintenance Worker III is an advanced journey-level position responsible for operating a variety of light construction equipment in support of Valley Water’s maintenance and construction projects. This role provides agency-wide support for work on creeks, ponds, reservoirs, and other flood control facilities throughout the county.

Assigned to the Vegetation Field Operations Unit, this position performs a broad range of duties supporting Valley Water’s vegetation management programs. Responsibilities include vegetation control, integrated vegetation management, arboriculture, native plant revegetation, invasive plant management, and biotechnical erosion control on Valley Water properties.

This is primarily an outdoor position requiring work in varying and sometimes challenging environmental conditions, including heat, cold, and rain. Incumbents may also be required to respond to after-hours flood control emergencies, including nighttime callouts.

As a light equipment operator, the Maintenance Worker III must possess a valid Class A driver’s license to operate Valley Water commercial vehicles and to transport light equipment used in vegetation management and flood control projects. Daily equipment operation may include a compactor, water truck, tree truck and chipper, dump truck, and wheel loader. Equipment is used to haul vegetative debris, maintain native plant mitigation sites, support invasive plant management efforts, and assist with Valley Water’s sandbag operations.

This position also ultimately requires a Qualified Applicator’s Certificate (QAC) in Category C (Right-of-Way) and Category F (Aquatics) to mix and apply herbicides and calibrate spray equipment for vegetation control on Valley Water managed properties.

• Operate a variety of small power tools and light equipment, including spray equipment, mowers, chain saws, weed eaters, pole saw, hydro seeder, small trenchers, loader, compactors, water trucks, forklift, straw mulcher, auger, sandbag machine, and chipper; clean, adjust, and perform minor maintenance on light equipment to ensure proper operating condition. 
• Mix and apply herbicides, and calibration of spray equipment to control the growth of vegetation on and around flood control and water distribution facilities and rights of way.

Additionally, the ideal candidate for the Sheriff’s Office will possess a California Class C or Class A license, have a clean driving record, and be comfortable working alongside incarcerated individuals. Fluency in Spanish, Tagalog, Mandarin, Cantonese, Russian (speak, read, write) is highly desired but not required.
  
Candidates chosen for these positions must successfully pass a background investigation in order to work in a locked facility around incarcerated persons. Felony and misdemeanor convictions may be disqualifying depending on type, number, severity, and recency.  
   
The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office currently has one regular full-time vacancies with additional vacancies expected. The appointment may be made at either the Food Service Worker I or II level, depending on the qualifications of the successful candidate(s) and the needs of the department.
  
As a Food Service Worker with the Sheriff’s Office you will be responsible for:

• Directing the work of incarcerated individuals who are assigned to clean and prepare food or assist in related routine tasks defined by supervisors at specific facilities assisting Cooks in the preparation of meals.
• Driving a large or small truck to deliver food and supplies and maintaining basic records related to vehicle use such as mileage and service reports.
• Preparing food for cooking by peeling, cutting, or slicing.
• Preparing salads, sandwiches, beverages, and simple desserts.
• Setting up tray lines and/or individual trays.
• Maintaining safety and security of equipment and addressing issues that arise.
• Overseeing the activities of the dish room, including ensuring chemicals are ordered, monitoring the PH and temperatures of the equipment, and preparing daily items such as dishes, pots, pans, containers, carts, and equipment.
• Cleaning facilities including sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing work areas such as floors, storage spaces, trucks and emptying garbage cans.
• Assisting with deliverables including signing for, bringing in, and/or storing items.
• Performing basic office tasks such as answering phones, working with computers, and paperwork.
• Following Food Service Unit policy and procedures including arriving to work on time, submitting personal timecard and assisting in following up on requests in a timely matter.

Qualifications

Food Service Worker I ($30.86 - $34.47 / hourly) is the entry/trainee level position. Initially under close supervision, incumbents learn a full range of Food Service Worker duties. As experience is gained there is greater independence of action within established guidelines. This classification is flexibly staffed with Food Service Worker II and incumbents may advance to the next level after gaining experience and demonstrating proficiencies which meet the higher-level qualifications.
  
Food Service Worker II ($32.50 - $36.35 / hourly) is the journey level position. Under general supervision, incumbents independently perform a variety of responsible food service duties. Incumbents work under specified guidelines and supervisors are available in non-routine circumstances. Specific duties may vary from position to position.
 
Knowledge of:

• Basic kitchen cleaning and sanitation methods.
• Operation and care of kitchen equipment.
• Proper lifting techniques.

Skill/Ability to:

• Prepare simple foods and beverages.
• Interact cooperatively with others including staff, patients, inmates and members of the public.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Coordinates the planning, promoting and implementing of programs and activities including registration and operations of special events offered by the unit.
• Participates in collecting fees for services; provides patron assistance with payments; properly stores or transfers cash monies; processes refund requests.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience: A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: graduation from high school or GED and at least 2,000 hours of relevant work or volunteer experience, at least 30 units completed in recreation or a related field. An associate degree is preferred. Must be at least 18 years old.

THE POSITION:

Under general supervision, receives and transmits routine and emergency telephone and radio traffic; dispatches and coordinates police, fire, public works, and other municipal staff and equipment via multifrequency two-way radio; maintains and processes a variety of communications reports, records, and radio logs; and does related work as required.

Performs a variety of unskilled or semi-skilled maintenance work, and operates a variety of equipment in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance and replacement of Town water, sewer, street and storm drainage facilities and systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Typical duties include but are not limited to:
•    Perform required labor involved in construction and maintenance projects as part of a crew, including pavement cutting, ditch digging, manhole and line cleaning, main and pipe repair, laying and backfilling.
