ABOUT THE POSITION

Are you a college student with a passion for making a difference in your community? Are you interested in a future career in law enforcement, public service, or community outreach? The City of Gilroy is seeking a college level Youth Task Force (YTF) Summer College Intern to work in the Gilroy Police Department Violence Prevention Unit. This is a unique opportunity to gain real-world experience, develop leadership skills and work alongside dedicated professionals who are committed to community safety and engagement. The Intern will participate and work with an experienced team and gain skills and knowledge in planning, organizing, and coordinating various youth and community projects, programs, events and tasks related to violence and gang prevention efforts. 

In this exciting opportunity, the YTF Intern will work under the direction of the Youth Task Force Coordinator, and will help carry out community events, participate in community organizing, community forums, community surveying, support engagement projects, and will help lead recreational and outreach programs at San Ysidro Park. The internship is a balance of office/administrative work and hands-on work in the field.

This internship has potential to be extended to the Fall semester.

WORK SCHEDULE 

This paid summer internship opportunity is part-time varied work schedule up to 25 hours per week. This internship schedule may have varied work hours each day to align with assigned tasks and participation in various community programs and events.

The Public Works Director will play a critical leadership role during a period of elevated development activity and organizational transition. This position requires a hands-on leader who can maintain momentum on existing initiatives while advancing new priorities across Public Works, Engineering, and land development functions.

This is an exempt, "at-will" senior management position directly responsible to the City Manager.  Salary is negotiated within salary range depending on qualifications.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Gilroy is recruiting an undergraduate or graduate-level City Emergency Management College Summer Intern for the summer of 2026. This internship will provide a significant opportunity to gain experience and exposure and accumulate skills that are used daily in city government emergency management programs that make substantial impacts to the community. The Emergency Management Team works year-round to ensure that community is prepared for disasters through planning, training, outreach, and coordination with local and regional partners. Joining our team means contributing to meaningful work that directly supports community reliance and preparedness. 

Working under the supervision of the Emergency Services and Volunteer Coordinator, the Emergency Management Intern will assist with planning, preparedness, outreach, and administrative functions that support OEM programs and Emergency Operations Center (EOC) readiness. Work includes both office-based and field support activities.

WHAT YOU’LL DO: 

• Assist with reviewing and updating emergency planes, annexes, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) 
• Support EOC readiness activities, including equipment checks, document organization, and checklist updates
• Maintain resource lists, contact databases, and situational awareness tools
• Assist with Emergency Management Volunteer coordination and management 
• Help develop outreach materials and coordinate community education events

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Gilroy Police Department is seeking a motivated and community-minded undergraduate Police Administration Intern interested in gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic law enforcement environment. This internship offers the opportunity to work alongside sworn officers and professional staff while supporting public safety initiatives that benefit the Gilroy community.

The intern will assist multiple divisions within the department by providing clerical and administrative support related to crime analysis, youth task force and gang prevention initiatives, public safety communications, and community outreach programs. The City of San Mateo Parks and Recreation Department is looking for responsible, enthusiastic, and team-oriented individuals to join our Team!

The Position:

Are you seeking a meaningful career serving youth in a diverse, multicultural community? Join our team and make a positive difference every day. The Community Services Coordinator is delegated lead responsibility for planning, implementing, and evaluating a program of activities or services within a specified program assignment, and, typically, for providing direct leadership in a portion of that assignment. This assignment may be a specifically defined programming area that is narrower in size or scope than those assigned to Supervisors or comprised of multiple delegated responsibilities. This position will coordinate programs and services for the Police Activities League (PAL). This position receives general supervision from higher-level recreation positions and may exercise functional and technical supervision over lower-level and part-time recreation personnel and volunteers.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have a valid State of California driver’s license. Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. Typical ways to obtain knowledge and abilities would be:

• Experience: Two years of responsible paid leadership experience in recreation or a related human services setting
• Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by college-level courses in recreation or a related field.

The candidate should know the basic principles and methods of planning, coordinating, and leading recreation and human services programs and activities. They should understand simple arithmetic and how to handle recreation equipment and materials.  A candidate should have knowledge of general office procedures and an understanding of community groups, activities, programs, and facilities. They should understand the basic principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluations. Bilingual ability in Spanish is highly desirable. A bilingual pay differential is available for candidates fluent in identified languages. Availability is required between 20 and 40 hours per week, depending on the time of year. Availability is typically Monday through Friday; however, occasional weeknights and weekends will be required for PAL special events.

Job Responsibilities:

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Instruct and lead specialized recreation and human services activities in such areas as sports, cultural arts, programs for the handicapped, senior citizens, crafts, teens and other areas of leadership requiring leadership in a structured environment.
• Provide activities and general facility supervision and control at a community recreation center or special use facility.
• Coordinate, develop, implement, and evaluate programs and services in assigned program area. Perform a variety of office related functions including program registration, answering citizen inquiries both in person and on the telephone and maintaining routine records and reports as required.
• Observe and take precautions to secure the safety of participants and spectators.
• Assist in preparing program facilities for structured program activities and special events.
• Occasional driving of City vehicles to support programmatic needs, including transporting youth participants on field trips.
